Bug#328602: Offer of adoption for redir

2005-10-20 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi there--

i'm happy to take over maintenance for redir. i'm not a
debian-developer yet, but i've started the NM process. i've uploaded
a version of redir containing version 2.2.1 here:

  http://lair.fifthhorseman.net/~dkg/src/redir/

it fixes a couple of the outstanding bugs simply by virtue of
including the new upstream release, moves the package to priority:
extra, fixes a documentation bug in upstream's source, and is now
using full-on debhelper V4 for debian/rules.

Please let me know if this looks reasonable, or if there are any
changes that i should incorporate to make it more acceptable.

Thanks for maintaining redir so far, Bernd.

Bug#195948: Maintaining the dspam package in a team.

2005-10-20 Thread Matthijs Mohlmann
Hi,

Lets take it together.

We are all trying to make a package for dspam. Some of us have the same
approach others have different approaches. Lets take it together so we
don't duplicate work.

Christoph has created a list at workaround.org where you can subscribe
through: http://workaround.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dspam-debian

I have now my svn repository at
http://svn.cacholong.nl/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/?root=dspam

And for using svn:
svn co http://svn.cacholong.nl/dspam/dspam

If anyone agrees with this please subscribe to the mailinglist and send
me your gpg pubkey and preferred username. (gpg pubkey is used to send
an encrypted message back) This is preferred as I have the stuff in svn
now.

If not, then lets move to alioth and work from there.

Please sent a confirm message and then start real development. I want
this package as fast as possible in debian, because I know already about
its nice features and I really need it on my server too ;) (I have
updated the debian/control file with some descriptions so look in there
too)

Further I hope that we can have a good relationship and work together on
the package.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Matthijs Mohlmann

Bug#311597: anyterm and /bin/login in etch

2005-10-20 Thread Julian Gilbey
Just discovered that in etch, /bin/login is not suid, which makes
anyterm useless. The workaround I used was (I'm sure not totally
securely, though):

In the anyterm.conf apache configuration file, I gave
/usr/sbin/anygetty the "--loginprog /usr/sbin/anylogin" option, and
made anygetty setgid to anyterm (a group created by addgroup --system
anyterm).
Then /usr/sbin/anylogin is owned by root:anyterm with privs 4750,
compiled from:

#define REAL_PATH "/bin/login"
int main(int ac, char **av)
{
  execv(REAL_PATH, av);
}

HTH,

   Julian

Hi Riccardo,
don't know if someone else is working on it, but there would be
galago-daemon and a bunch other packages and libs also, that would be
nice to have.

Beagle for instance, would use libgalago + galago-daemon + gaim feed to notify

I'm maintaining the toolchain-source package used to generate
cross-compilers. The native versions of gcc and binutils is maintained
by others, but we try to keep the two in sync by generating the
toolchain-source source from the native gcc source.

The main thing that needs to be done right now is to move to gcc 4.0.
This should be done by getting the gcc-4.0 source package to compile
for cross targets and supply the gcc-maintainers with patches for
that.

After that is done, there is quite a few bugreports that should be fixed:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?which=pkg&data=toolchain-source&archive=no&version=&dist=unstable

I am working profesionally with compiler development so I am familiar
with that kind of tools and support.

Please let me know if and how I can help out.

Ok, that seems managable. I'll do it if you're willing to help me get
started and pointed in the right direction. Required tools and so on...
Also, any logs and documentation (or pointers to) of what has been done
and what is planned would be apreciated. Addresses to people that I'll
need to get in touch with would also be nice. To sum up, take every
ounce of information you have and drop it on my head.

If unsure about the name of this package, please ask on debian-perl

Bug#334907: ITP: php-htscanner -- htaccess file parser for PHP in CGI mode

2005-10-20 Thread Piotr Roszatycki

Owner: Piotr Roszatycki <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: php-htscanner
  Version : 0.1

* License : PHP License 3.0
Description : htaccess file parser for PHP in CGI mode

When using a CGI version of php (plain old CGI or FastCGI), Apache can't pass
any PHP settings from htaccess files it parses. This can be solved by giving
each user it's own php.ini file, but the htscanner might be an alternative
solution. This extension parses these configuration files (in most cases
..htaccess) and changes the settings. It will search all directories for a
configuration file from the docroot until the directory where the request
scripts is found.

The source is licensed under PHP License, but I hope the upstream author could
release it under fixed license.

Bug#304159: GNU DL != GDL. Existing package GDL is unrelated.

2005-10-20 Thread David Golden

Just to point out that the existing "gdl" (GNOME DevTool Libraries)
source package in debian is AFAIK not related to
GNU Data Language (IDL clone) Juan's itp was for.

AFAIK there was a previous abortive itp #68057 which was going to
use the package name "gnudl" for the GNU Data Language
(IDL clone). : http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=68057

( In freshmeat, the project is listed
as "The Data Language", but tdl is also taken in Debian
by a little to-do list thingy.

Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor written in Gtk2-Perl. It aims at bringing
the concept of a wiki to your desktop. For example every page is saved
as a text file with wiki markup. Pages can contain links to other
pages, and are saved automatically. Creating a new page is as easy as
linking to a non-existing page. This tool is intended to keep track of
TODO lists or serve as a personal scratch book.

Mostly. For ITA pings (probably the only thing I do systematically),
merkel.d.o:~vela/ita-age.pl tells me which bugs are inactive, which
are missing owners, and which have had no reply to a ping.

For title fixes, I really should use wnpp-lint [1], but sometimes it
gets things wrong [2], and I'm too lazy to double-check. :-)

Agreed, and I think your automatic expiry scripts are a great step in
that direction. Now we just need to fix those pesky corner cases. :-)

Bug#253293: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Debianized mod_auth_shadow-2.1.tar.gz]

--- Begin Message ---
Hello!

I'm using your mod_auth_shadow on several machines running Apache
1.3 and Debian Woody.

Now I'm switching to Debian Sarge and Apache2. Unfortunately your
module is not packaged for Apache2 in Debian.

I downloaded the latest tarball (mod_auth_shadow-2.1.tar.gz) and
debianized it.

Everything is contained in the "debian/" subdirectory. If you add
that directory to your sources, every Debian user can make a
Debian package by simply installing the Build-Depends
packages and running

fakeroot debian/rules binary

I tested it on Debian Sarge (stable) and Etch (testing).

I'm not a Debian mantainer, so I will send this mail also to the
official Debian mantainer of the Apache1.3 mod_auth_shadow
module. May be this will facilitate the Debian packaging.

Techincal details:

- Changed the makefile to be Debian compatibile.
- Added the file auth_shadow.load, used by the Debian install.
- Used dpatch to store all the patches in the debian/ directory.
- Created the postinst script to set proper permissions
  onto validate program.

Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the squashfs package.

The package description is:
Squashfs is a highly compressed read-only filesystem for Linux. It uses zlib
compression to compress both files, inodes and directories. Inodes in the
system are very small and all blocks are packed to minimise data overhead.
Block sizes greater than 4K are supported up to a maximum of 64K.
 .
Squashfs is intended for general read-only filesystem use, for archival
use (i.e. in cases where a .tar.gz file may be used), and in constrained
block device/memory systems (e.g. embedded systems) where low overhead is
 needed.

Bug#195948: New dspam version release

2005-10-20 Thread Matthijs Mohlmann
Hi,

Please CC me, I don't get the mails from this bug.

Ok, lets do it together.

What are we going to do:
Move svn to alioth ?
Use the list on alioth or workaround.org ?

If you want to use svn @ cacholong.nl then please send your gpg pubkey
and your preferred username then I can add you to the svn passwd list.

For the list is the same, if you want to use workaround.org please
subscribe to workaround.org. (The svn commits are going there at the
moment.)

I'm still busy on dspam. It's not ready yet, and I'm move some
statically linked binaries to dynamically linked.

Regards,

Matthijs Mohlmann

Bug#334244: Adoption of bibcursed

2005-10-20 Thread John Wright
Hello,

I would be interested in maintaining bibcursed -- I'd hate to see it
disappear. I think it's nice to have a non-graphical BibTeX editor
handy when I can't remember the exact field and I don't want to fire up
Java (or I'm working remotely).

Is it up to date with dspam? I just built 3.6.0 using
Matthijs' SVN tree from:
---
http://svn.cacholong.nl/dspam/dspam/branches/upstream/3.6.0/debian/

and so far, so good.
