I intend to orphan the zssh package.

The package description is:
zssh (Zmodem SSH) is a program for interactively transferring files to a
remote machine while using the secure shell (ssh). It is intended to
be a convenient alternative to scp, allowing to transfer files without
having to open another session and re-authenticate oneself.
 .
Files are transferred through the zmodem protocol, using the rz and sz
 commands.

Bug#331079: Great... but why block on hs-plugins?

2005-12-28 Thread John Goerzen
It'll be great to have hs-curses packaged in Debian, but why would it
have to depend on hs-plugins? Since hs-plugins is not very portable
-- either to different Debian platforms or to different Haskell
environments -- that's concerning for me.

Thanks,

hs-curses does not depends on hs-plugins, but riot does.

Since hs-plugins is not very portable -- either to different Debian
platforms or to different Haskell environments -- that's concerning
 for me.

My idea was actually to ship two binary packages: riot and riot-static,
the former needing hs-plugins.

Distributing riot as a binary debian package without hs-plugins removes
its configuration ability which sounds pretty limitating too me.

I am using the riot package as a test to see if hs-curses is working
well enough to be released. Maybe I should just release a static only
version of riot and hs-curses altogether?

I understand I need a sponsor and someone to mentor my packaging.

Description : Perl extension for basic first-pass API testing for class
trees

For many APIs with large numbers of classes, it can be very useful to
be able to do a quick once-over to make sure that classes, methods, and
inheritance is correct, before doing more comprehensive testing.
This module aims to provide such a capability.

Description : Carnegie Mellon University's link grammar parser for English

In Selator, D. and Temperly, D. Parsing English with a Link Grammar
(1991), the authors defined a new formal grammatical system called a
link grammar. A sequence of words is in the language of a link
grammar if there is a way to draw links between words in such a way
that the local requirements of each word are satisfied, the links do
not cross, and the words form a connected graph. The authors encoded
English grammar into such a system, and wrote this program to parse
English using this grammar.
.
This package can be used for linguistic parsing for information
retrieval or extraction from natural language documents. Abiword also
uses it as a grammar checker.

Bug#310876: mdf2iso already packaged in Ubuntu Universe

2005-12-28 Thread Asheesh Laroia
A few months back, I filed the ITP Bug#310876
http://bugs.debian.org/310876. Just as I'm finally uploading this to
mentors.debian.net and about to look for a sponsor, I discovered that
Lukas Fittl had packaged this in Ubuntu Universe.

Lukas, do you plan to upload it to Debian, too? If not, um, what should
we do for Debian users?

Thanks, all.

Bug#291694: Who's going to package bloat?

2005-12-28 Thread Asheesh Laroia
I was about to upload this to mentors.debian.net, but I remembered that
Mohammed took my bug a few months back. May I take it back?

Also, it seems David was the one who actually gave it to Mohammed.

For what it's worth, I've been in contact with Sam Hocevar who has been
working with upstream on maintaining their packages. Either way is fine,
though I'd rather end up with the package; let know soon so I can decide
what to do with this .diff.gz :-).

Description : Perl library to encrypt stuff simply

Maybe you have a web application and you need to store some session
data at the client side (in a cookie or hidden form fields) but you
don't want the user to be able to mess with the data. Maybe you want
to save secret information to a text file. Maybe you have
 better
ideas of what to do with encrypted stuff!
 .
This little module will convert all your data into nice base64
 text
that you can save in a text file, send in an email, store in a
 cookie
or web page, or bounce around the Net. The data you encrypt can
 be as
simple or as complicated as you like.

Perhaps this is adelicate question -- but
shouldn't ltrace be put up for adoption? There are two developers with patches for 2 or 3 architectures, and
nothing has happened in over a year.

Hey, I should have subscribed to debian-wnpp!
I didn't intend to take this bug :)

I only retitled it because its title was ITP: or something like that.

So you are totally free to package it!

Bug#298340: RFP: drawterm

2005-12-28 Thread Nick Barkas
I am interested in creating a Debian package for this. I can't find a
license for it in its source code though, and it needs mk to build. I
think you can only get mk from plan 9 ports
(http://swtech.com/plan9port), which is not in Debian (yet).

There is also a version of drawterm available here:
http://swtch.com/drawterm/. It is released under the LPL, and it builds
on my system using make instead of mk. I'll try and debianize this
version of the drawterm source.

I request an adopter for the libhtml-tokeparser-simple-perl package.

The package description is:
This is the CPAN module HTML::TokeParser::Simple.
 .
HTML::TokeParser::Simple is a subclass of HTML::TokeParser that uses
easy-to-remember method calls to work with tokens. For instance,
rather than writing code like this:
 .
$token-[0] eq 'S' and $token-[1] eq 'form' .
 .
you can instead write something simpler like this:
 .
$token-is_start_tag( 'form' )
 .

Bug#289168: Waiting for Xvidcap

2005-12-28 Thread Asheesh Laroia
I really would like to use this program, and it's even packaged. Why has
it lingered on http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html for a year now?

As a Debian user, I'd like to say it would be great if it were uploaded.
I would like to use xvidcap to make video-based Debian documentation to
help my friends enjoy Free Software.

 Hi,

what are your current plans involving this package? At present, the gdb

Description: perl Apache::ASP - Active Server Pages for Apache with mod_perl.
This perl module provides an Active Server Pages port to the Apache Web
Server with perl as the host scripting language. Active Server Pages is
a web application platform that originated with the Microsoft NT/IIS
server. Under Apache for Unix and Win32 platforms it allows a developer
to create dynamic web applications with session management and embedded
 perl code.
 .
This module works under the Apache Web Server with the mod_perl
module enabled. See http://www.apache.org and http://perl.apache.org
for further information. It can also work under a standard CGI call
interface using the asp-perl command. See README.Debian in this
 package for more details
 .
This is a portable solution, similar to ActiveState's PerlScript for
NT/IIS ASP. Work has been done and will continue to make ports to and
from this implementation as smooth as possible.

 which doesn't [e.g. Apache::SSI and Apache::SSIChain]).

The current maintainer of libapache-ssi-perl, Stephen Zander [EMAIL

Description: perl Apache::SSI - Implement Server Side Includes in Perl.
Apache::SSI implements the functionality of mod_include for handling
server-parsed html documents. It is meant to run under Apache's mod_perl.
 .
In my mind, there are two main reasons one might want to use this module:
you can sub-class it to implement your own custom SSI directives, and/or you
can use an OutputChain to get the SSI output first, then send it through
 another PerlHandler.

Justification: Mail bouncing for 3 months, last upload half a year ago

As I now use Apache2 rather than Apache1 I no longer use this package
and do not have a way to easily test/maintain it. I am thus orphaning
it in the hope it will find a better home. It is currently up-to-date
with upstream and the packaging is in good shape.

I request an adopter for the libjavascript-rpc-perl package.

The package description is:
JavaScript::RPC::Server::CGI is a CGI-based server library for use with
Brent Ashley's JavaScript Remote Scripting (JSRS) client library. It
works asynchronously and uses DHTML to deal with the payload.
 .
The most current version (as of the release of this module) of the
client library as well as a demo application have been included in this
 distribution.

I looked at the homepage, and while this does appear useful, is it really
nescessary to be packaged all by itself?

Think about a collection package; I don't think debian should be overloaded
with tons of single-program packages.

Yes, at the moment I upload the package I did not have the ITP.

This is the initial debian release, do you think this is apropiate?
I supouse you do, so I'll list it.

- debian/rules is OK, but why don't you use debhelper and its dh_*

Because I am understanding the process as much I can, gcolor2 and

This is for the first round. There may be others, but today I wish you

Bug#345120: ITP: ksalup -- Enhanced port of Winpopup for KDE

2005-12-28 Thread Javier Ballesteros
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : ksalup
Upstream Author : Emmanul Zurmely [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://ksalup.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
Description : Enhanced port of Winpopup for KDE

KSalup is an enhanced port of Winpopup for KDE. It also allows the
user to send and receive Winpopup messages over a local network (LAN).
 .
 KSalup supports two protocols :
 .
Communication with a computer running Winpopup or using the
NetBios protocol over TCP sending and receiving messages through
 Samba.
 .
Communication with computers on a local subnet, using the
Netbios protocol over UDP, compatible with almost all of the current
softwares (Kurupop, Pipo p, Salup, Windows NT, ...)
