Bug#344906: ITP: sysprof -- A system-wide linux profiler

2006-01-14 Thread Junichi Uekawa
Hi,

  Sysprof is a sampling CPU profiler that uses a Linux kernel module to profile
  the entire system, not just a single application. Sysprof handles shared
  libraries and applications do not need to be recompiled. In fact they don't
  even have to be restarted.

 PS: I'm not so familiar with kernel modules. I've put a preliminary package on
 the web [1] in case you have comments.

How would the user choose between oprofile and sysprof, how do they
differ?

regards,
junichi

Bug#348043: ITP: upslug2 -- command line program to upgrade the firmware of LinkSys NSLU2

2006-01-14 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Martin Michlmayr [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: upslug2
  Version : 2-11
  Upstream Author : John Bowler [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/nslu
* License : custom, see below
  Description : command line program to upgrade the firmware of LinkSys
NSLU2

The following description is taken from upstream's README files.
The Debian package will have one slightly more suited for the
Debian control information.

upslug2 is a command line program intended to allow the upgrade of a
LinkSys NSLU2 firmware to new or different versions. Unlike upslug
and the LinkSys (Sercomm) upgrade utilities upslug2 will synthesise a
complete 'image' from a kernel and a root file system, as such it
duplicates part of the functionality of 'slugimage'.

upslug2 also optimises the upload to avoid transmitted parts of the
image which need not be written or are 'blank' (set to the erased
flash value of all 1's).

upslug2 is functionally similar to upslug, however it is not derived
from upslug. It is a rewrite ab initio based on the following
information:

Bug#348062: O: boson-base

2006-01-14 Thread Philipp Kern
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The maintainer of the source package `bison-base' agreed that
all his packages could be orphaned due to his lack of time.
The package is currently very RC buggy, but recently an updated
package was uploaded to Ubuntu.

Copied from the Boson website and Wikipedia:

Boson is an open source OpenGL real-time strategy computer game
programmed in C++, with the feeling of Command Conquer or StarCraft.
It is designed to run on Unix (Linux) computers, and is built on top
of the KDE, Qt and kdegames libraries.

Kind regards,
Philipp Kern

Sysprof has a nice gtk interface. Moreover, the interface is quite
simple and intuitive: you just have to press the Start then Profile
buttons and you see the call tree. That said, oprofile seem to have more
advanced options and is available on more archs.

Cheers,

Samuel.

Hi,

printbill seems to be dead upstream, RFA-bug (#282561) open more than
one year ago, last maintainer upload 3 years ago (1 NMU to fix 1 RC-bug

Any objections for its removal from unstable?

I request an adopter for the xmltv source package.

Gather television listings, process them and organize your viewing.
XMLTV is a file format for storing TV listings, defined in
xmltv.dtd. =20

http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/

I would like to find someone to take this package over. I would be
willing to stay on as co-maintainer, but I would prefer not to have to
sponsor package uploads while in that role. Since I'm trying to unload
this package due to time constraints, having to sponsor the package
doesn't really do me any good (it would take more effort to sponsor this
package than just maintain it).

See: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/09/msg01318.html

Mathias Weyland [EMAIL PROTECTED] did initially express interest in
maintaining this package. I have not heard from him after his initial
email, when I asked him whether he would need me to sponsor his uploads.

 Ah, ok, that quite a bit more work yes ;)

 You might want to add something about the decoding to the package

Good idea, thanks.

Bug#347570: Considering an ITA

2006-01-14 Thread Mario Iseli
Hello,

I'm having a look at the package because i consider to do an ITA. Please
make not any NMU's or ITA's until i tell that i'm not interested in the
package.

When i'm going to adopt i'll change the following:
* Separate the source package in those packages:
yudit (dummy package which installs yudit-common, yudit-bin)
yudit-bin (the platform dependent binaries)
yudit-common (independent stuff)
yudit-doc (yudit has a big documentation, would be better in a seperate
package)

Regards,
Mario Iseli

Bug#348122: ITP: libapp-cache-perl -- Easy application-level caching

2006-01-14 Thread Jonas Genannt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Genannt [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libapp-cache-perl
  Version : 0.31
  Upstream Author : Leon Brocard [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~lbrocard/
* License : GPL
  Description : Easy application-level caching

 The App::Cache module lets an application cache data locally. There
 are a few times an application would need to cache data: when it is
 retrieving information from the network or when it has to complete a
 large calculation.

2006-01-14 Thread Jonas Genannt
Hello,

retitle ITP ivan -- a non-standard graphical rogue-like game

Perhaps if you are really interested in packaging the software, you should
retitle the bug in the right way.

Please see here: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control

Greets,
Jonas
