Bug#253735: Update? Repository for gnome-bluetooth package?

2006-01-21 Thread Barry Hawkins
Is there any update on gnome-bluetooth? The unofficial repository seems
to no longer be available and the last message here is two months old,
yet a search for gnome-bluetooth in the Debian repostories for all
releases, even experimental, yields no results. If there is a new
unofficial repository or if user should try and build the package from
source, please let us know.

Having into account version number of this software and that it uses
gtk+1.2, it will be probably completely unmaintained upstream, and I am
against including it in the archive, unless more reasons are given.

  Thanks.

Bug#349165: O: ieee80211 -- Source for the 802.11 (wireless) network stack for Linux

2006-01-21 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the ieee80211 package.

As it is now included in vanilla kernel since 2.6.14 and is impossible
to build without breaking the debian packaging system for recent kernels
(see #338775), I lost interest in packaging ieee80211. I'm therefore
orphaning it.

The package description is:
This package provides the source code for the 802.11 (wireless) network
stack module for the Linux kernel. Though it has been incorporated in
latest kernel versions, the bundled one might not be up-to-date to build
third-party wireless modules such as ipw2100 or ipw2200 which are common
 on Centrino notebooks.
 .
In order to compile these modules you need the kernel sources (or the
kernel-headers for the kernel-image packages from Debian). For compile
 instructions look into /usr/share/doc/ieee80211-source/README.Debian or
 simply use the module-assistant utility.

Bug#349164: O: ipw2200 -- Source for the ipw2200 driver

2006-01-21 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the ipw2200 package.

As it is now included in vanilla kernel (1.0.0 in 2.6.14 and 1.0.8 in
2.6.15), and is impossible to build without breaking the debian
packaging system for recent kernels (see #338775), I lost interest in
packaging ipw2200. I'm therefore orphaning it. I'll be doing the same
for ieee80211 shortly.

The package description is:
This package provides the source code for the ipw2200 kernel modules.
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (IPW2200) mini PCI adapter is a common component
 of Centrino notebooks.
 .
In order to compile these modules you need the kernel sources (or the
kernel headers for the kernel image packages from Debian). For compile
 instructions look into /usr/share/doc/ipw2200-source/README.Debian or

Well, but flashplugin-nonfree at least make the users feel how painful
nonfree software are to deal with. Quite a usefule feature if you ask
me!

More seriously there are at least two free attempts at a flash-plugin,
gnash and swfdec, so it might better to keep the name flash-plugin as a
virtual package name.

Maybe macromedia-flash-installer ?

Thanks for your reply, Li. I'm preparing an upload now based on
CVS and Maciej's patch found on mentors.

I don't want to step on toes, but I'm about to do the upload today
even without a reply from Maciej because otherwise I might never get
around to doing it. I don't know whether either of you wish to be
involved in maintaining the Debian package. For this first upload,
I put myself as maintainer with Maciej as uploader.

I have more than enough packages to maintain myself, so if either
of you prefer to be maintainer, I'm more than happy with that. If
you be the maintainer or an uploader, let me know.

-Steve

Hi,
I tried uploading it the same day as I did the ITP but it got rejected
because of license issues - parts of the code are LGPL but the whole
is released as dual-license Apache and LGPL. Also a couple of files
were under another license. I need to check what the status of that
is. I guess I can get around it by making the debian package LGPL only
but I'll need to check that with upstream. The eventual plan is to
replace that code with original code but that'll take time.

Regards,
Daniel

Bug#268229: Intent to Adopt

2006-01-21 Thread Martin Meredith
retitle 268229 ITA: midentd -- An ident replacement with masquerading support.
owner 268229 !
thanks

I would like to adopt this package, although I'm not currently too sure if it's
actually up for adoption. It may have been posted here - but by someone other
than
the maintainer.

Hence I'm CC:inf this to [EMAIL PROTECTED], and if they agree - I'll be happy
to adopt.

Regards,
Martin Meredith
