I usually don't criticize the package descriptions but I'm not sure
that such information actually pertains to the package description. It
should rather go in README.Debian

I would also advise against the use of exclamation marks and
*pseudo-bold text*. Package descriptions os a place where neutral
language should be used: facts, only facts and not opinions.

Addressing the users ("you") in package descriptions is also something
I would discourage.

I'm withdrawing my ITPs for the above packages. All of the packages except
gtkglk are ready and available at mentors.debian.net. If anybody wants
to pick them up, be my guest. If you can't find them, just ask me.

I got no answer to my RFS for the packages on the debian-mentors list,
and now looking back, I'm not surprised. The relationships between the
packages are a bit complex, they use cdbs and I introduced automake
to them to make the library packaging easier. All this makes the
packaging a bit messy.

I don't have the motivation to re-work the packages into something
cleaner.  Furthermore, keeping support for IFP makes them much more
complicated, since that means the interpreters must be packaged with a
separate shared library.  All the necessary patches to the sources are
separated in debian/patches, though, so they should be easy to rip out.

I still think it would be nice to have at least glulxe packaged for
Debian, and that's why I'm retitling these to RFPs. I would close the
int-fiction-ifp RFP if it had been submitted by me. I don't consider
the gains IFP gives worth the complications anymore. 

As for the others, I might be remotivated if there was some demand for
them, so please contact me if you care :)

Anyway, as installed, it does not change configuration --> Safe default
User will do so when reading README file.

IMVHO this package is in a pretty good shape, and I don't see any
particular tasks that really need to be done. However, for some reason
I'm not that fond of it and / or don't use it regularily anymore, so
as part of some restructuring on my side I'm willing to let this
package go and find a loving new maintainer for it.
NB: This package is quite easy to maintain and thus might be just the
right choice for any aspiring new maintainer trying to get his hands
wet.

If you have a sponsor (or don't need one) please just take over.
Otherwise I might be interested in sponsoring a new maintainer,

Description: scalable PostScript fonts for european character sets

 The Latin Modern fonts, also known as "lm fonts", are a set of
 scalable fonts in PostScript Type 1 format. They are based on the
 PostScript Type 1 version of the Computer Modern fonts and contain
 many additional characters (mostly accented ones).

 The Latin Modern fonts were generated using MetaType1, a program
 based on MetaPost for generating PostScript Type 1 fonts
 (ftp://bop.eps.gda.pl/pub/metatype1/). Their size is reasonable and
 they are usually considered to be of good quality (compared to
 cm-super, for instance; however, cm-super contains font families
 that have no equivalent in this package; additionally, there are
 character sets that are supported by cm-super and not by the Latin
 Modern fonts).

 The fonts are setup for use with the TeX typesetting system. They
 are also registered with defoma, which makes them available to other
 applications such as Ghostscript and Fontconfig. Finally, they are
 made available to the X Window System directly, which makes it
 possible to use them in any X application (however, XFree86's native
 rendering of PostScript Type 1 fonts is not fantastic at the moment,
 so the result in this last case is not so pleasant as with font
 rendering engines that perform anti-aliasing, such as FreeType).

Note: the latest upstream versions are not limited to european character
  sets anymore, since they include vietnamese characters.

Be really careful then! We have to synchronize uploads when the shared
memory segment layout of the driver changes.


Oh, wait. Gsynaptics already includes a different (much older) version
of struct SynapticsSHM. It won't work with the current synaptics driver
available in etch.
I tested 0.9.5 here that destroyed my runtime configuration :)
Probably taking synaptics.h from the driver sources and stripping the
unnecessary definitions (the non public part, see comments) is enough.

BTW: I'll soon upload a new revision recommending [gk]synaptics.

I'm orphaning cdrdao, since I actually don't need it any more (a
combination of bchunk, xine, daemon-tools, and effective dvd burning
on my desktop means that I no longer need to actually put this stuff
on CDs) and it's a real bitch to look after. Buyer beware, this
package is fundamentally unstable because it's taking a library
written by a lunatic and trying to wrap a new interface around
it. You're probably better off finding another way to solve your
problem instead of trying to maintain this thing.

The package description is:
 cdrdao records audio or data CD-Rs in disk-at-once (DAO) mode based
 on a textual description of the CD contents.
 .
 Recording in disk-at-once mode writes the complete disc,
 i.e. lead-in, one or more tracks and lead-out, in a single step. The
 commonly used track-at-once (TAO) mode writes each track
 independently which requires link blocks between two tracks. You
 probably want to use this if you're copying a CD with multiple
 tracks, like most audio CDs.
 .
 cdrdao can also handle the bin/cue format commonly used for VCDs or
 disks with subchannel data.

 If you just want to burn a normal data CD, you probably want cdrecord
 instead.
