Description: shell program to display visual disk usage with navigation
Years have passed and disks have become larger and larger, but even on
this incredibly huge harddisk era, the space seems to disappear over
time. This small and effective programs provides more convenient
listing than the default du(1). It displays what has happened since
last run and displays dir size and the total percentage. It is
possible to navigate and ascend to directories by using cursor-keys
with text based browser (links, elinks, lynx; See
 http://gt5.sourceforge.net/browsers.html).

Bug#353526: O: wav2cdr -- Converts wav files into CD-ROM audio file format

2006-02-19 Thread Philipp Kern
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I don't need this tool anymore, having all in GUI now, so somebody else
should care about it.

Description:
This program converts wav sound files into a format suitable for
CD-ROMs, and can perform some editing functions like cutting or volume
change. It is rather rudimentary, the wav file must have the same
sampling parameters as CD audio. Runs on big and little endian
 machines.

Kind regards,
Philipp Kern

Description : command-line tools for extracting data for XCF files

This is a set of fast command-line tools for extracting
information from the Gimp's native image file format XCF.
The tools are designed to allow efficient use of layered XCF
files as sources in a build system that use 'make' and similar
tools to manage automatic processing of the graphics. These
tools work independently of the Gimp engine and do not require
the Gimp to even be installed.

xcf2pnm converts XCF file to ppm, pgm or pbm format, flattening
layers if necessary. If the image contains transparency, an alpha map
can be written to a separate file, or a background color can be
specified on the command line. The tool can either flatten the XCF
file as given, or extract specific layers named on the command line.

xcfinfo lists information about layers in an XCF file.

... Note that I am the upstream author myself. I wrote this tool
because I need it myself and there seems to be nothing comparable
available on the net. Then I put some extra work into polishing it
up for general consumption, because it seemed to be the Right Thing
to do - I cannot be the only one who have whished for such a tool
to exist.

There is a xcftopnm binary in gimp-perl, but it is very slow,
starting the Gimp engine to do the work. Convert from imagemagick
supposedly also understands XCF files, but not the ones I work with,
and it would probably be overkill to try to extend its command-line
interface to know about layers.

Nonetheless, packaging one's own software does smell slightly of
vanity package -- I'd appreciate comments. (IAADD, so I don't
desperately _need_ to package this, but Debian is still the most
convenient channel for making this widely available).

Bug#332666: Progress on Debian Package for FSL

2006-02-19 Thread Michael Hanke
Hi!

The last update on my packaging attempt of FSL was some time ago, so I
guess I should do another one.

And now for the remaining problems. There is still no official package
for 'newmat'. Although there has been a RFS lately:

 http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2006/01/msg00047.html

I also made an unofficial package of 'newmat', because the above
packaging attempt did not work with FSL due to some differences in the
build configuration. I asked the maintainer for the appropriate changes.
If this is done so I can add this package to the build-dependencies of
 the FSL package.

If it is in your (=Debian-Med's) interest I would volunteer to sponsor
a newmat package provided that it fits your needs. So if a missing
sponsor for newmat would be the final show stopper for FSL just come
 back to me.
I did some testing with the newmat package (made by Philippe Coval). It
includes a shared library and works pretty well for me. I had a quick
look on the package and made some suggestions, but it would be nice if
someone more experienced with shared-library packaging could have a look
at it (it is available from mentors.d.n). And IIRC the newmat package
still needs a sponsor (Andreas?!).

I was not able to use the Debian version of libgdchart. Neither did
compiling FSL worked nor was I able to locate the problem.

Can you specify the problem more detailed? I have no experiences with
libgdchart, but dicussing the problem on debian-devel is very often
 helpful.

I get a linker error if I use the Debian version of libgdchart:

I compared the included libgdc version with the current Debian one and
found no significant differences. I spend some time using Google and
only found a single guy with a similar problem, but no solution. My first
guess was a possible problem using a C lib in a C++ program. I attached
the source code file that seems to cause the problem.

I my oppinion this issue has to be solved before considering FSL as a
candidate for Debian.

The last remaining library is CEPHES. There is still no package. But as
I do not know of any other application that uses this lib, it might be
ok to keep this one compiled from the FSL source code.

Well, this depends (as always). If you ask me issuing a RFP or rather
ITP and packaging it from a clean upstream source would be the
clean way to go (TM). If this does not fit your time frame we could

Description : A minimal lightweight exception class

This module implements a minimal lightweight exception object. It is meant to
be a compromise between more basic solutions like Carp which can only print
information and cannot handle exception objects, and more more complex
solutions like Exception::Class which can be used to define complex inline
exceptions and has a number of module dependencies.

This module screen scrapes the Topica website and fetches back RFC822 text
representations
of all the mails posted to a given list. Where possible it fills in the from,

fields. It should be noted that in some cases it's impossible to get both the
sender name

I don't have enough time to maintain this package. Upstream did already
two releases after my last upload.

This package is not too complex to maintain so if you want to introduce
yourself with Python package maintainership, this would be a good start.

Cheers.

It's already packaged by upstream so if someone is willing to prepare
official release it should be quite easy.

YICS is a FOSS client for Yahoo! Chess. It emulates a FICS server, so it can
be used with many FICS interfaces that support the concept of an ICS helper.

Basically it presents an alternative to the Java applet provided by Yahoo!,
allowing many of the nice features of the FOSS clients (PGN logging, sounds,
etc) to be used with Yahoo!.

* Package name: pyme
  Version : 0.7.0
Upstream Author : Igor Belyi belyi.users.sourceforge.net
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyme/
* License : LGPL
Description : Python interface to the GPGME GnuPG encryption library

Pyme is, for the most part, a direct interface to the C GPGME
library. However, it is re-packaged in a more Pythonic way --
object-oriented with classes and modules. Take a look at the classes
defined here -- they correspond directly to certain object types in GPGME
 for C.
 .
 Features:
   * Feature-rich, full implementation of the GPGME library. Supports
all GPGME features except interactive editing (coming soon).
Callback functions may be written in pure Python.
   * Ability to sign, encrypt, decrypt, and verify data.
   * Ability to list keys, export and import keys, and manage the keyring.
   * Fully object-oriented with convenient classes and modules.

-

This package was shipped with Debian from 2002-11 (see Bug #169807) till
2003-10 (see Bug #213124). It now is again being maintained upstream.

Preliminary packages are available from the upstream site (upstream
does ship a debian/ directory in the tarball) as well as from the
apt-able archive at

 deb[-src] http://non-gnu.uvt.nl/debian sarge pyme

. Beware! These packages are still pretty rough on the edges! The
package on non-gnu.uvt.nl will likely get updated soonish.

Upstream is responsive and cooperative.

It is rumoured Ubuntu is preparing a package too. (I couldn't find any
published stuff yet, though.)

Bye,

Joost

Description : HTML Widget And Validation Framework

Create easy to maintain HTML widgets!
 .
Everything is optional, use validation only or just generate forms, you can
 embed and merge them later.
 .
The API was designed similar to other popular modules like
 Data::FormValidator and FormValidator::Simple, HTML::FillInForm is also
 built in (and much faster).
 .
This Module is very powerful, don't misuse it as a template system!

The goal of the XUL Runner application is to provide a lightweight

Note that it has not yet been released and is only available in the
mozilla.org cvs. Also note it is planned to be the central point for

Description : Python module for delimiter-separated-value files

Python-DSV is an alternative to Python's standard csv module, with
somewhat different usage and optional support for wxWidgets-mediated
user interaction in the course of format autodetection. Like the
standard module, it supports a wide range of delimiters and handles
 both import and export.

I'm packaging this in the course of reviving bitpim's ITP (#265585).
I will probably issue a single binary package, for Python 2.3, because
that's all that python-wxgtk2.x supports anyway.

The mpt-status software is a query tool to access the running

monitor the health and status of your RAID setup.

The Debian Edu build server uses this RAID system, so we would like to
have the tools to monitor it in Debian.

Bug#353398: Almost ready / unbuildable in testing

2006-02-19 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Hello,
I have the new upstream version almost ready, but unfortunately it
does not build in testing anymore due to #350113 (where I could not
understand why it was allowed to migrate to testing). Since my main
test box (for functionality) runs on testing, I am considering how to
proceed best.

If someone wants to take over goobox, please contact me before
starting your work to avoid duplicated work.

Greetings

 Helge

Description : configuration tool for Synaptics touchpad driver of X

GSynaptics is a configuration tool for Synaptics touchpad driver
of X server. Before you use this package, please read
/usr/share/doc/gsynaptics/README and configure X server properly.

--
If you are using gnome, this should give you nice alternative to
  qsynaptics :-)

As a matter of fact, it has been locally packaged based on the
packaging by Ikuya for Ubunts. Minor dependency fix was neded
to build on Debian. I also changed build script to use
  autotoools-dev.

If Ikuya wants to maintain this on Debian, I will be happy to sponsor.

Changes:
 wide-dhcpv6 (20060114-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Initial release (Closes: #350329).
   * Added 01_Makefile.in.dpatch:
 - minor changes so that the packages build correctly.
 - removes config.{log, status} and Makefile provided by the upstream
tarball.
   * Added 02_client-bind-to-link-local.dpatch: a patch for the client. It
makes it bind to the link local address of the first configured network
interface instead of ::/0, which doesn't work.
   * Added 03_dhcp6c_pid_dump.dpatch, 04_dhcp6s_pid_dump.dpatch and
05_dhcp6relay_pid_dump.dpatch so that daemons dump their PIDs to /var/run.
   * Added 06_wide-dhcpv6-mans-update.dpatch to update the manpages and adapt
them to the linux and especially Debian-like file hierarchy.
   * Added 07_cftoken.l-bison.dpatch: a little modification which makes the
client and the server compile with flex instead of lex.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=242936

A patch is forwarded to upstream.

Cheers,

Michael

it is not a simple pretty-printer; actually, it is designed to
 fulfill the following desires:
 .
  (1) We want to write mathematical formulae in comment area of source
  program.
  (2) We would like to patch PS or EPS figures upon source program.
  (3) We need a simple and easy-to-use tool which enables to combine
documentation and manual with source program.
  (4) We often have to translate our program from text format to TeX
format when we want to quote our own program in research report,
lecture note, etc. That is quite time consuming, so it should be
  automated.

You can divide the screen of GNU Emacs as many as you like.
Since efficiency of implementation or so depends much on the

partitioning. But if you switch the mode to e-mail mode or
NetNews mode, they break your favorite style.
Windows.el enables you to have multiple favorite window
configurations at the same time, and switch them. Furthermore,
it can save all window configurations into a file and restore
 them correctly.

Bug#353641: RFP: gaim-plugins -- 28 useful plugins for the Gaim instant messenger

2006-02-19 Thread Jason Spiro
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

It would be great any or all of these useful gaim plugins could be
packaged for Debian.
I assume they could all go in one single package called gaim-plugins with the
version number of the version of gaim they are built against, since:
A) Plugins are easy to disable in the Gaim prefs dialog. B) If it was
all a single package,
I guess it'd be easier to rebuild the package against a newer version
of Gaim if
this was ever necessary.

gaim-osd 1.0.0-1
- prints incoming messages and other information at the bottom of your screen
- font size, auto-disable when you're at your PC, and more are configurable
http://gaimosd.sourceforge.net/
src: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=51563

Extended Preferences 0.5
- lets you change Gaim UI's font size
- lets you make other UI tweaks
http://gaim-extprefs.sourceforge.net/ep.shtml
src: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=107659

SmartEar 1.0.0
- lets you set up custom notification sounds representing each of your friends
- lets you specify that sounds should be played no more often than N seconds
http://somewhere.fscked.org/smartear/
src: http://somewhere.fscked.org/smartear/#download

Gaim Plugin Pack 1.0beta2
- 24 plugins, though some may or may not be built in the Debian package:
- buddynote - Store local notes about a buddy.
- lastseen - Shows how long since a buddy was last online and the last
message you recieved from the buddy in the buddy's tooltip.
- markerline - Draws a line beneath the last read text in a
conversation/chat so you have a visual clue where you stopped
following the conversation.
- newline - Prepends a newline to the beginning of every message
written to a conversation so that the screen name or alias of a buddy
appears on a separate line from the message.
- stocker - Adds a stock ticker to the buddy list; this is similar to
the stock ticker found in Windows AIM.
- Many more: aadium_xml_logger, bit (Buddy Icon Tools), blistops
(Buddy List Options),
buzzer, dice, flip, Gaim-XChat, gRIM, groupmsg (Group Message),
irssidate, listhandler, mystatusbox,
nicksaid, oldlogger, sepandtab (Separate and Tab), showoffline,
simfix, sslinfo, talkfilters
- see homepage for details:
http://guifications.sourceforge.net/PluginPack/
src: http://guifications.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

RatGaim
(still maintained; homepage mentions unfixed bugs)
- displays incoming IMs in the ratpoison window manager's message bar
http://linux.mikeasoft.com/ratgaim.php
src: http://linux.mikeasoft.com/ratgaim.tar.gz

I assume that if these plugins are compiled against Gaim 1.5.0 they
will still work when Gaim 2.0.0 is released into unstable and testing.
At http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~kzorin/texim.php it says:
Make sure that the gaim binary you use is as new or newer than the
gaim sources that you compile your plugins against. ... Gaim enforces
that if a plugin's version is later than your gaim version, it will
not show up in your gaim plugins list when you run the program.

If you would like to request more plugins as well, feel free to reply
to this bug and hope that they will be included as well.
