Bug#374397: ITP: libsynaptics -- library to access the synaptics touch pad driver

2006-06-19 Thread fboudra
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Fathi Boudra <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name : libsynaptics
  Version : 0.14.4d
  Upstream Author : Stefan Kombrink <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://qsynaptics.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL
Description: library to access the synaptics touch pad driver

libsynaptics is a library to access the synaptics touch pad nearly independent
of the used driver version. It is intended to support all upcoming driver
versions of the Xorg Synaptics Touch Pad Driver. Programs that want to access
the touch pad should make use of this library and will thereby not interfere
with each other. Available parameters can be read and written and the version
of the installed driver can be determined.

Hi Juan,

thanks for the update. If the package works nicely even with limited
functions, what about uploading it to the Debian archive?

Bug#374429: ITA: craft -- Warcraft 2-like multi-player real-time strategy game

2006-06-19 Thread Mihai Felseghi

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the craft package. I basically never use it

The package description is:
You are a Viking and have to lead a nation. Your main task is to

one of the 9 building types.
.
The ultimate goal is to create enough knights, catapults etc. to
wipe out the competing civilizations.

Bug#374440: ITP: python-templayer -- layered template library for Python

2006-06-19 Thread Paul Wise
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Paul Wise <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: python-templayer
  Version : 1.2
  Upstream Author : Ian Ward <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://excess.org/templayer/
* License : soon to be LGPL (being relicenced soon)
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : layered template library for Python

Templayer currently supports only HTML generation, but its simple design
is easily extended to support other file formats.

Templayer was created to offer an alternative to the more common ways of
generating dynamic HTML: embedding code within the HTML (PHP etc.), or
embedding HTML within code (traditional CGI). Neither of these methods
allow for a clean separation of the form, or layout, of a page and the
function of page generation. Instead of mixing HTML and Python, two rich
and extremely expressive languages, we can add a small amount of syntax
to each and keep the two separate and coherent.

Packaging this so that the tutorial for python-urwid can be built and
installed. Upstream and the python-modules team will by my co-maintainer
on this.

Bug#374455: RFH: webalizer-stonesteps -- Web server log file analysis program

2006-06-19 Thread Joost van Baal
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the webalizer-stonesteps package.

The package description is:
Stone Steps Webalizer is a command line application for web server log file
analysis based on the version 2.01-10 of the original Webalizer.
 .
The Webalizer is a web server log analysis program. It is designed to scan
web server log files in various formats and produce usage statistics in
HTML format for viewing through a browser.
The Webalizer produces yearly, monthly, daily and hourly statistics. In the
monthly reports, various statistics may be produced to show overall usage,
usage by day and hour, usage by visiting sites, URLs, user agents
(browsers), referrers and country. The Webalizer is highly configurable by
use of either command line options or a configuration file, allowing the
program to be tailored to individual needs easily.
 .
The original Webalizer is available via the "webalizer" Debian package.
Use that one if you want to get up and running fast: the webalizer package
has a nice and easy to use debconf configuration interface.
 .
Another webalizer fork is (being) packaged as the "awffull" package
 (ITP Bug #356724).
 .
Webalizer has no support for "Query String Analysis" (interpreting
JSP/PHP/Perl in HTTP requests); stonesteps-webalizer has (awffull has not).
stonesteps-webalizer has support for guessing the "visit length", webalizer
 has not.
 .
  Homepage: http://www.stonesteps.ca/projects/webalizer/

This package currently is available from the "experimental"
distribution.

The original webalizer uses GNU Autotools as its build-system. This
version however only ships a Makefile. Luckily, upstream is very
responsive and cooperative, so portability- and other bugs in the
Makefile are fixed upstream quickly, after sending a patch to their
webforum.

The webalizer package has a very nice debconf interface. I'd like this
to be available for webalizer-stonesteps too. However, I really don't
have the time for that.

The package is maintained using SVN on Alioth, in collab-maint. You can
view current status via
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/collab-maint/deb-maint/webalizer-stonesteps/trunk/
.

If someone is willing to invest some time in this package, it could get
shipped with etch. For now, I don't feel I can guarantee sufficient
quality for that (that's why it's in experimental still).

Thanks!

Bye,

Joost

Bug#374485: RFA: termpkg -- Simple Telnet replacement for termnetd

2006-06-19 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

I request an adopter for the termpkg packages.

It's a handy suite that served me well, and still serves me on
production servers, yet I'm not competent to maintain it's source as I
don't understand the tty layer and various related ioctls. I simply
lack the knowledge to debug low-level stuff happening between software
 at the tty level.

The package description is:
This package is a simple telnet replacement. It does

fidogate needs some TLC and a combination of many other projects on the

the new maintainer should intend to use it to connect to Fidonet or some

I have talked to the upstream author and we both consider the package should
be uploaded to Debian archive once the stable version (0.8.0) is published.

Hopefully, it will happen soon.

Description: A real-time visual space simulation (KDE frontend)
Celestia is a real-time visual simulation of space. Choose a point
within the Local Group of galaxies, and Celestia will show you an
approximation of how it would appear to your eyes were you actually
there. Some of what Celestia shows is necessarily hypothetical--the
farther away from Earth you get, the less real data there is and the
more guesswork is involved. Thus Celestia supplements observational
data with good guesses based on models of stellar and planetary
 processes.
 .
Celestia is unique in its ability to allow you to navigate at an
immense range of scales. Orbit a couple kilometers above the surface
of a tiny, irregular asteroid, then head off towards Jupiter, watching
it grow from a bright point of light into a looming sphere filling your
field of vision. Leave our solar system entirely and observe the sun
as it fades from a brilliant disk to a bright star, disappearing almost
entirely as you head off toward the Upsilon Andromeda system to orbit
 around its innermost giant planet.
