Bug#376857: ITP: curlftpfs -- filesystem to access FTP hosts based on FUSE and cURL

2006-07-07 Thread Frank S. Thomas
Hi,

On Wednesday 05 July 2006 20:12, Eduard Bloch wrote:
 Great, I was going to ITP it when I have more time.

Maybe you are interested in sponsoring me then?

  Preliminary packages for testing are at:
  http://frank.thomas-alfeld.de/download/debian/curlftpfs/

 It's linked with OpenSSL without having the additional GPL/OpenSSL
 clause.

That happened because the package wasn't built in a clean environment. As I
said before, that is a preliminary package and it wasn't intended for an
upload.

Frank

Bug#279757: Status of freewrl debian package?

2006-07-07 Thread John William Dalton
Could someone please explain what the status of freewrl
for Debian is?

Looking at the cryptic emails in the mailbox for this bug
it seems as if there was an aborted attempt by Stan to
creat a package and in the last week or so the upstream author
of freewrl John A. Stewart has stepped in to take ownership.

Does this please the upload of a freewrl package is imminent?
I hope so! I've been developing an based application (slowly) that
generate X3D and VRML for the last few years. It hurt when
Debian dropped freewrl. (I wasn't in a position to become
maintainer.)

Thanks in advance!

Bug#377243: ITP: strigi -- fast indexing and searching tool for your personal data

2006-07-07 Thread Fathi Boudra
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Fathi Boudra [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: strigi
  Version : 0.3.2
  Upstream Author : Jos van den Oever [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.vandenoever.info/software/strigi
* License : LGPL
  Description: fast indexing and searching tool for your personal data

Strigi is a program for fast indexing and searching your personal data. It can
gather and index informations from files in the filesystem even if they are
hidden in emails or archives. It comes with a Qt4 GUI and an HTML GUI.
Main features:
* very fast crawling
* very small memory footprint
* no hammering of the system
* pluggable backend, currently clucene and hyperestraier, sqlite3 and xapian
are in the works
* communication between daemon and search program over an abstract
interface, this is currently a simple socket but implementation of dbus is a
possibility. There's a small perl program in the code as an example of how
to query. This is so easy that any KDE app could implement this.
* simple interface for implementing plugins for extracting information. we'll
try to reuse the kat plugins, although native plugins will have a large
speed advantage
* calculation of sha1 for every file crawled (allows fast finding of
duplicates)

This a beagle like ;)

cheers,

Fathi

Buy me some more time? :) I'm currently working on other Debian

co-maintain this, I'm fine with that.

I currently have 1 problem, and that is with the ebl library.
It's only available as a static library, but it can dlopen()
several shared objects, depending on the arch of the file it's
trying to use. This causes problem in case someone wants to use
that library, since the normal shlibs won't work.

What I see as the best option to fix this is to convert all those
shared objects into one static library, I just didn't have time
to do this yet.
