Bug#382128: RFH: mailman

2006-08-09 Thread Lionel Elie Mamane
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Andreas Barth wrote in [EMAIL PROTECTED], to
debian-devel-announce@lists.debian.org:

We have a very tough time ahead of us to actually release in time in
December 2006, and we all have to set the release as priority one in
 order to make it happen.

In particular, the mailman package needs some serious love, which its
current maintainers are not giving it. If nobody steps up, etch will
be late or without mailman. (That is not mathematically guaranteed,
but I - the only currently active Mailman-in-Debian maintainer - doubt
I will make it by the freeze deadline of 18 Oct 2006.)

Do not be fooled by the long list at
http://alioth.debian.org/project/memberlist.php?group_id=30291:

 - The lead/main maintainer hasn't done anything in Debian for this
package since May 2005, although he is definitely not MIA; maybe he
is too busy on the Ubuntu side (where he does make occasional
updates), maybe too busy with other things in his life. I dunno.

 - All sidekicks but one have announced they will not (lack of time,
...) do anything for Mailman-in-Debian at the many-months scale of
time and haven't reversed this announcement.

 - Past facts show that the only remaining active sideckick (that
would be me) is patently unable (time-wise and/or motivation-wise)
to maintain the package on his own. In particular, he hasn't even
read the *title* of every bug report yet. Hasn't touched the
   thing since April 2006.

If on the date of 1st October 2006, nothing has changed, I'm going to
ask for removal of mailman from etch. The package is not release
quality. If you want mailman to be in etch, step up! (Persons that
have sent helpful patches in the past, filed several bugs reports, etc
are particularly invited, as they seem to be caring for the package at
least somewhat.)

Get yourself an account on Alioth, I'll add you to the pkg-mailman
project and sponsor your uploads if you are not a DD.

Contact me with any question / proposition.

Thank you in advance and best regards,

What are these additions? Are you sure that they comply to the DFSG?

Bug#339009: I would like to adopt lua50

2006-08-09 Thread Enrico Tassi
It seems that lua50 is orphaned and the patch I prepared in response to
bug 378764 works.

I think I should take care of the package and upload the new version.

Do I need to do more than closing 339009 and changing the maintainer
field in the control file?

regards

Thanks for your help. I added you to the Alioth project. We use a
subversion repository at svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-mailman/,
and dpatch within that.

Just in case you feel the itch to do something else than pure bug
triaging, are you familiar with dpatch?

No. Well, Zak B. Elep [EMAIL PROTECTED] showed intent to adopt, so you
could drop him a line, and you could set owner of the wnpp but to
yourself to indicate that now you intent to adopt it, but that's more a
matter of politeness than technical requirement if you make an upload
soon.

Do ensure to properly document that you adopt it in the changelog and
close the WNPP bug from that very same changelog entry.

In any case, some Debian Developer could sponsor an upload, if you ask for
one. Probably he might be a member of the Debian Games Team[*].

I'm not interested in maintaining any Python packages in Debian right
now. Feel free to hijack this ITP.

I am not going to maintain this package because of personal reasons.
Maybe soemone in the games team can do it.

They are additional permissions, so that the inclusion of some code from

I would very much welcome if Enrico can take it, although I may also
consider co-maintenance. I received mvela's auto(?)-ping about my
ITP, so I'm about to upload the new lua50 to mentors (it was already
there on the old incarnation of that service, but was unable to bring
attention to it until now.)

Any help in the package is surely appreciated. (New patches to old
bugs are very welcome!)

Description : SIP Express Router, fast and flexible SIP server

Ser or SIP Express Router is a very fast and flexible SIP (RFC3621)
proxy server. Written entirely in C, ser can handle thousands calls
per second even on low-budget hardware. A C Shell like scripting language
provides full control over the server's behaviour. It's modular
architecture allows only required functionality to be loaded.
Currently the following modules are available: digest authentication,
CPL scripts, instant messaging, MySQL support, a presence agent, radius
authentication, record routing, an SMS gateway, a jabber gateway, a
transaction module, registrar and user location.
