Bug#280876: ITP: fmit -- Free Music Instrument Tuner

2006-08-13 Thread Ludovic RESLINGER
Hello Free,

I did an ITP on fmit because I haven't saw yours.
I would like to be the maintainer of this package,
because I'm musician and I use it a lot of.

A ITP on fmit had ever closed, if you accept it, I
could upload it today or tomorrow, all is ok.

Best regards,

Hi Ludovic,

thanks for having cared about that, and sorry for my delay. It's fine
for me if you upload it, so just go on!

If you wishyou could inject the source packagein the
debian-multimedia SVN repository:

http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/demudi

actually there is already a directory for fmit, but which never got
uploaded. In this way it's easier to keep track of the sources and
possibly work together if needed.

You may also consider setting the maintainer to

Debian Multimedia Team debian-multimedia@lists.debian.org

so that bug reports and notification of uploads and migrations will be
forwarded to the d-m list too. There are already a few packages doing
this:

Ciao,

A package for Audacios is present in Ubuntu's REVU (similar with
debian mentors), it might be helpful (if by any chance is not the same

CVSps is a program for generating 'patch set' information from a CVS
repository. A patch set in this case is defined as a set of changes made
to a collection of files, all committed at the same time (using a single
'cvs commit' command). This information is valuable for seeing the
big picture of the evolution of a CVS project. While CVS tracks revision
information, it is often difficult to see what changes were committed
 'atomically' to the repository.

 Two notes:

   - this package is required for jokosher (#381803)

Cool, thanks for packaging this. I started doing it locally but I
haven't kept up with the new Python policy etc. I need it for an
application I want to write.

I emailed Thom May about the Ubuntu package a few months back, as he's a
Debian developer as well and I wanted to find out if he would maintain
the package for Debian. He seemed to have lost interest and was happy
for someone else to take it up for Debian.

Note that upstream appears to be non-existent and there's a lot of
functionality missing I think.

Bug#323913: Man page for tstat

2006-08-13 Thread Mellia Marco

Dear Sandro,

First, let me thank you for the job you are doing.
Considering the tstat manpage, we didn't update it since we are updating
the HOWTO file. Since the Howto is wrinteen in POD, a manpage is
available for free. See

http://tstat.tlc.polito.it/HOWTO/HOWTO.man

I guess that you can include that one as manpage...

BTW, we plan to release a new version of Tstat by the end of September.
Can we send it to you, so that you can update the debian package?

Do not hesitate to concact us if you need any further help.

Marco

Hi all,
I'm packaging tstat (version 1.01) for Debian, and during this
activities I've noticed that in this package tstat.man is missing but
is still referenced in:

Makefile.in:286:$(INSTALL) -m 444 -o bin -g bin tstat.man
$(MANDIR)/man1/tstat.1

In 0.92 version package that file is present, but neither in 1.00 and
1.01 the file is there. Why did you remove it, and why is still
referenced? missing deletion in Makefile.in or wrong deletion of
tstat.man?

Since I have to provide a manpage for a debian package, I can upgrade
the existing one or you can provide one, if you got it. Let me know
who I can go on.

Thanks Regards,
Sandro

Yes, it has been accepted yesterday. Also it already built fine on ppc.
It's just not installed yet.

I'd be glad to maintain it together with you, if you like.

ok, great. we ended up with very similar packages (see

Bug#350391: glest package - an analysis

2006-08-13 Thread Eddy Petrişor

Hello Giuseppe,

I have seen your comments on REVU, how would you feel about
comaintaining glest insde the Debian Games Team, thus we could have
both the Ubuntu and the Debian version in sync and we could reduce the
packaing effort?

Now, about the package... I have made a modified Jamfile which adds a
clean target (see bug #350391 in debian BTS:
http://bugs.debian.org/350391), but there are some problems related to
dpatch and the way the editor target is removed. Why did you disable
it? I think it would be a good thing to have the editor, too, so I
don't see a reason to remove it. Still I think the clean target is not
complete, but I didn't had time to fully follow this and inverstigate.

   Oh, crap, just saw it:
   -cd mk/linux jam

Please note that it won't stop compiling the targets if one fails due to
jam's
nature. IIRC jam -q could do that trick, but not sure though.

the package has just compiled, I'll look into the ignoring thingies

That leaves us also with the clean target not really doing the right
job (did this after a build and running by hand debian/rules clean):

I worked a little on fixing the clean target, but is not yet there,
because there is another patch which affects the Jamfile, which
disables the editor. This is how the file should look like after the
clean target is added.

I have also a modified debian/rules but because of the editor target
patch issue I haven't published it yet.

Description : qt based multiplatform subversion client, diff merge tool

subcommander is the subversion gui client. It does support most subversion
features. There are only a few features left that are currently not
implemented. subcommander is usable for day to day work!
subcommander features

* tight integration of repository browser and working copy status view, you can
quickly switch between a working copy view or the repository view. It just a
matter of selecting another item in a list view control.
* colored working copy status view to quickly see which files/folder have
  changed.
* easy branch and tag handling. By telling subcommander the projects urls for
trunk, branches and tags and a working copy path it takes only a few mouse
clicks to create a branch/tag or switch your working copy to a branch/tag.
* has drag drop support to move or copy files and folders.
* easy handling of multiple working copies (e.g. different branches) from the
  same project.
* easy merging of single revisions or revision ranges. Viewing the
* history on a
repository url you can easily merge changes to your working copy.
Just select a revision and tell subcommander to merge it into your
(configured) working copy. That is especially usefull to merge bug
fixes from trunk to your current release branch.
* visual diff and merge for text files (submerge).
* cross platform (Win32, Unix, MacOSX)
* responsive gui, actions on the repository (like getting history information)
  will not freeze the gui.
* supports most subversion features (see below for what is still missing):

Bug#363967: [RFC]: new proposal for starting ipw3945d

2006-08-13 Thread Kel Modderman
Hi Steinar,

I notice some of my ipw3945 efforts have been mentioned in ITP's. I'd love to
see my efforts go directly into debian. I do not have the hardware, only a
fair idea of how all the ipw3945 pieces should go together, so I'd love to
hand off my work to an interested party with the hardware to test or have my
work sponsored/co-maintained or whatever.

I'd like to know if you'd be willing to comment on a new mechanism of starting
ipw3945d, or verify if it even works. I've noticed on blogs and other google
yields (but not ever been told directly via email) that users of my ipw3945
packages (and also users of other distro's) are experiencing difficulty with
the initial module load + ipw3945d start. So I've adapted the comments from
Md[1] and incorporated them into a new source package[2]. If you could check
out the ugly hacks involved and see if they work more reliably than the
previous approach, I'd appreciate that.

Thanks, Kel.

I've had some severe hardware troubles while the last week (and the week

However, I'm uploading ipw3945 modules package tomorrow evening. For the
daemon package, I'll offer to co-maintain it with you (for the next

Cool, thanks for packaging this. I started doing it locally but I
haven't kept up with the new Python policy etc. I need it for an
 application I want to write.

I emailed Thom May about the Ubuntu package a few months back, as he's a
Debian developer as well and I wanted to find out if he would maintain
the package for Debian. He seemed to have lost interest and was happy
for someone else to take it up for Debian.

Note that upstream appears to be non-existent and there's a lot of
 functionality missing I think.

Hi Hamish,

looking at the license, it seems the maintainer thought the package
could become an official python module, which would be a good thing.

do you know which features are missing?

cheers, piem

Bug#382847: ITP: libwww-mediawiki-client-perl -- Command line Mediawiki client

2006-08-13 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sandro Tosi [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libwww-mediawiki-client-perl
  Version : 0.31
Upstream Author : Mark Jaroski [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~markj/WWW-Mediawiki-Client-0.31/
* License : Perl(?)
Description : Command line Mediawiki client

mvs is a command line client whose purpose is to simplify offline
editing of Wiki content. It allows you to get any number of pages
from a given Mediawiki site, edit the pages with any editor, get and
merge any concurrent updates of the pages, and then safely commit the
users own changes back to the version of the page on the server.

The mvs commands which take a filename argument only accept a single
filename as so to avoid taking up too much server bandwidth

Bug#363967: Bug#372118: [RFC]: new proposal for starting ipw3945d

I notice some of my ipw3945 efforts have been mentioned in ITP's. I'd
love to see my efforts go directly into debian. I do not have the
hardware, only a fair idea of how all the ipw3945 pieces should go
together, so I'd love to hand off my work to an interested party with the
hardware to test or have my work sponsored/co-maintained or whatever.

I've had some severe hardware troubles while the last week (and the week
before no own computer at all).

However, I'm uploading ipw3945 modules package tomorrow evening.

Great.

For the daemon package, I'll offer to co-maintain it with you (for the next
week, I do not have a ipw3945 notebook here because I lent it to someone
else, but afterwards, it should have been come back then).

I have no ipw3945 hardware to test, so my goal is that the existing packaging
that I've worked on could be useful to someone with the hardware and willing
to adopt. The package needs polish that I mostly cannot provide.

The documented/suggested modprobe.d hack has proven to be unreliable, and I do
not agree with an init script approach I've seen adopted by two other
parties; so this udev based initialisation seems to be they way to go and
will need some testing/tweaking.

Thanks, Kel.

Note that upstream appears to be non-existent and there's a lot of
  functionality missing I think.

looking at the license, it seems the maintainer thought the package
could become an official python module, which would be a good thing.

Indeed. I think OSS is officially in Python now, but of course OSS is
obselete so an ALSA API in the official Python would be great. :)

do you know which features are missing?

I think there was no way to query what sound devices exist for one
thing. I'm just going from memory of a quick survey, so I may be
overstating the problem.

Thanks

Hamish

Bug#382896: RFP: sync2cd -- incremental archiving tool to CD/DVD

2006-08-13 Thread Andrew Schulman
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: sync2cd
  Version : 1.1
Upstream Author : Remy Blank [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.calins.ch/software/sync2cd.html
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python 2.4
Description : incremental archiving tool to CD/DVD

sync2cd is an incremental archiving tool. It allows backing up
complete filesystem hierarchies to multiple backup media
(e.g. CD-R). Files are archived incrementally, i.e. only new or
changed files are stored during an archive operation.

All entity types are supported: directories, files, symlinks, named
pipes, sockets, block and character devices. Ownership and
permissions can be saved and restored.

sync2cd does not use any archive formats (like dar or tar) or
compression: it just writes the files to CD. This gives maximum
transparency on the archive media: you don't need sync2cd to restore
your data (although it helps), and the media contents can be easily
cataloged.

Bug#382898: ITP: tptest-gui -- A graphical front-end to TPTEST3

2006-08-13 Thread Michael Rasmussen
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Michael Rasmussen [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: tptest-gui
  Version : 0.4.1
Upstream Author : Michael Rasmussen [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.datanom.net/tptest
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : A graphical front-end to TPTEST3

The front-end uses a either a master server giving
addresses of available test servers or a stand-alone test server to send or
receive data from a specified server, increasing the load until maximum load is
discovered - automatically decided when throughput is not increased. When
maximum throughput is found the user can see the statistic - Up/down TCP and
UDP and
an indication of available bandwidth - (TCP/UDP * 100), both in a dialog or on
print.

The intention of the application is to help ordinary users to test and document
their available bandwidth if the need to make complaints to their ISP.
