  Description : Load configuration from different file formats,
transparently

 Config::Any provides a facility for Perl applications and libraries to load
 configuration data from multiple different file formats. It supports XML, YAML,
 JSON, Apache-style configuration, Windows INI files, and even Perl code.
 .
 The rationale for this module is as follows: Perl programs are deployed on many
 different platforms and integrated with many different systems. Systems
 administrators and end users may prefer different configuration formats than
 the developers. The flexibility inherent in a multiple format configuration
 loader allows different users to make different choices, without generating
 extra work for the developers. As a developer you only need to learn a single
 interface to be able to use the power of different configuration formats.

In English, the beginning of a sentence is capitalized. Consider it to
be the program name, rather than the executable. If you can't tolerate
this, recast the sentence to avoid beginning with the program name.

 I'm following the GNU coding standards: If a lower-case identifier
 comes at the beginning of a sentence, don't capitalize it! Changing
 the spelling makes it a different identifier.

In this usage, the term aa is not an identifier, nor a program
executable name. It is a package name. Look at, for example bacula.

It seems awkward because 'aa' is not pronouncable, which is why I
suggested recasting the sentence.

Bug#385208: RFP: snakebyte -- Integrated BitTorrent Server / Tracker / Seeder

2006-08-29 Thread Alessandro Polverini
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: snakebite
  Version : x.y.z
  Upstream Author : Evan Wilson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://actlab.tv/snakebite_guide.html
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Integrated BitTorrent Server / Tracker / Seeder

It's easy to download files with BitTorrent, but sharing your files over
BitTorrent is somewhat
complicated. You have to generate torrents for each file you want to share, run
a tracker, and run a
seeder. Most people don't even know what any of that means. It's much more
complicated to share files using
BitTorrent than with a webserver. To put your files on the web, you just drop
them in the correct folder
and then webserver does the rest.

Now we have Snakebite, which provides all of the power of BitTorrent with the
ease of use of a webserver.
Simply install snakebite, launch it, and drop files in the correct folder. They
are then shared over
BitTorrent with no additional effort. Additionally, snakebite automatically
generates a user-customizable
page with links to all of your torrents. That way you can just point people to
your links page and they can
download anything that you have.

Well, good question :) AFAIK the compression format is indeed (a variant
of?) LHA, but the *deco tools have more sematic knowledge of the
contents, know about obscure deviations from the format in some BIOSes, some
motherboard-specific quirks etc. etc.

Judging from some ad-hoc tests on some images I did notice differences,
but don't ask me what exactly the differences are...
