I do wish to keep maintaining the wmspaceweather package. This is a
low-maintenance package that would be good for a new maintainer.

Bug#385929: RFA: vsftpd -- The Very Secure FTP Daemon

2006-09-03 Thread Daniel Jacobowitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the vsftpd package.

The package description is:
A lightweight, efficient FTP server written from the ground up with
 security in mind.
 .
vsftpd supports both anonymous and non-anonymous FTP, PAM authentication,
bandwidth limiting, and the Linux sendfile() facility.

Vsftpd is an easy package to maintain; Chris is very responsive to problems.
However, the ways network servers, inetd-using packages, et cetera interact
requires more attention than I've given it lately.

I can provide a Subversion repository containing the recent history of
vsftpd packaging to any adopter.

Bug#385928: RFA: ncurses -- Shared libraries for terminal handling (32-bit)

2006-09-03 Thread Daniel Jacobowitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ncurses package.

Ncurses is not hard to maintain; the upstream maintainer, Thomas Dickey,
reads Debian bug reports and tends to fix them far more frequently than
I can manage to upload them. I haven't had time to take proper care of
this vital package in a while now. I've maintained this since Joel Klecker
did, and I think it's time someone more active took a turn.

I can provide a Subversion repository containing the recent history of
ncurses packaging to any adopter.

Bug#385921: RFA: ircii-pana -- Advanced Internet Relay Chat client

2006-09-03 Thread Daniel Jacobowitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ircii-pana package.

The package description is:
This is the bleeding edge of IRC software -- the most common
functions normally done by scripts are coded into the client itself.
It contains dozens of features such as:
 .
 * Built-in ANSI color (this is probably the biggest feature)
 * Ease of use -- dozens of useful command aliases to reduce typing
 * Built-in notify, protection, and bot lists
 * Built-in mass commands and tools
 * Extended set of DCC commands and built-in CDCC offering
 * Extended scripting functionality, including unique functions
 * Code is based on ircII-Plutonium and more recent ircII-EPIC
 .
 Homepage: http://www.bitchx.org

I still use this program every day, including the SSL patches which I wrote
for it, but I haven't had time to do any serious maintenance on it in a
while. I'll continue to maintain it in meanwhile, but if anyone is
interested in adopting and continuing to maintain this package, they are
welcome to.

I can provide a Subversion repository containing the recent history of
the bitchx packaging to any adopter.

Bug#385919: RFA: bogl -- Ben's Own Graphics Library - graphical terminal

2006-09-03 Thread Daniel Jacobowitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the bogl package.

The package description is:
Ben's Own Graphics Library is a small framebuffer library,
including basic widgets, support for text in multiple
 languages, and mouse handling.
 .
This package contains bterm, a UTF-enabled framebuffer terminal.

I haven't had a setup where I could test bogl in a long time, nor have I
worked with d-i (the only significant user of bogl). Ideal would probably
be someone who wants to assist with d-i.

I can provide a Subversion repository containing the recent history of bogl

What about using "nohup program &" instead?
Or one of the other methods suggested. I do not see the point of
packaging yet another tiny NIH-style I-did-not-RTFM tool.

Most programs that are designed to be run as daemons do that work for
themselves. However, you?ll occasionally run across one that does not. When you
must run a daemon program that does not properly make itself into a true Unix
daemon, you can use daemonize to force it to run as a true daemon.

I have something pretty basic at the moment, but it's certainly not
ready for upload (no copyright file for a start).

I have spoken to the developer, and he says he will make releases,
starting one for bzr 0.10 which is due out soon (tomorrow).

His next release will include proper copyright/license information which
will allow me to finish the package off.

I slowed my work because of this, so the package is still a little raw.
I can let you have an experimental version now though if you would like.

Indeed. On the other hand, bazaar will quickly fade out and bzr will
probably take over the bazaar word again.

Please, when you have a packaged ready, tell me. We want to deploy this
software on http://bzr.debian.org and I'm reluctant to using non-packaged
software.

So I'd appreciate if you could create a first package even with a version
"0~bzr166" which mentions only the bzr revision of the upstream
repository.

Please keep me informed of your progress.

Bug#383316: Frets on fire

2006-09-03 Thread Miriam Ruiz
Hi,

Frets On Fire depends on a library called amanith that is licensed under QPL,
so it's not DFSG-free. According to upstream, they'll probably relicense it
under GPL on october, when they publish a new version.

I plan to maintain it collaboratively in the Debian Games Team SVN server, so
your help is really welcome if you want to join :) Please tell me and I'll add
you to the group.

I'm very interested in the game too, it's great :)

Greetings,
Miry

PS: I haven't been very active this last two weeks due to medical reasons, but
I'm back and recovering my strenght. I hope to have amanith, pyamanith and
Frets on Fire (the game and its dependencies) packaged by the time they
relicense it.

Bug#344572: Package maintainer

2006-09-03 Thread Michael Tokarev
Bernhard R. Link agreed to sponsor tinycdb package, which I
prepared at http://www.corpit.ru/mjt/tinycdb/tinycdb_0.76pre2.tar.gz,
if no one steps in till the next Friday.

The tarball includes nss_cdb module still, but I plan to comment
it out for the final 0.76, just to reduce possible problems with
uploading/testing - at least for now, as it's already too much
changes.

Thank you Bernhard for your time, you already spent quite some
of it reviewing my packaging and making useful suggestions.

/mjt

Are you still interested in uploading tangerine package? It is already

nobody is going to do it soon.

  Cheers,

Description: Interactively examine a C program source
Cscope is an interactive text screen based source browsing tool.
Although it is primarily designed to search C code (including lex
and yacc files), it can also be used for C++ code.
 .
Using cscope, you can easily search for where symbols are used and
defined. Cscope is designed to answer questions like:
 .
 Where is this variable used?
What is the value of this preprocessor symbol?
Where is this function in the source files?
 What functions call this function?
What functions are called by this function?
Where does the message "out of space" come from?
Where is this source file in the directory structure?
What files include this header file?
 .
