Bug#340333: (no subject)

2006-09-15 Thread Adam Cécile (Le_Vert)
I may adopt the package but I had a look to upstream website.

* No news on release since 2004
* No ML activity since may 2005
* Based on GTK 1.2

I would suggest to close this bug and remove the package from archive
instead.

What's you opinion ?

Bug#350740: seamonkey 1.1

2006-09-15 Thread Hendrik-Jan Heins

Hello list,

After talking to Alex Vincent and some more research, Alex and I came
to the conclusion that it's probably a smart move to start building
Seamonkey 1.1. This version is currently in Alpha, but the final is
expected within six weeks.

So I built a series of packages of the 1.1 version.

You can find the packages here: http://hjh.passys.nl/Debian/Experimental

A word on the nspr and nss libs: I had a lot of troubles with
conflicting versions of these libs of xulrunner. Apparently Mike built
xulrunner so that the -dev files contain links to the libraries with
their basenames (so without the -0d). This means that when you install
the xulrunner dev files, you can not have any other version of nspr or
nss installed (this also goes for the mozilla 1.7.x versions!).
To bypass these issues, I created the libnspr4-sm and libnss3-sm
packages. These install the files in /usr/lib/seamonkey to avoid
conflicts. The devel files of these libs are installed in
/usr/include/seamonkey

Basing Seamonkey on xulrunner is NOT a good idea. It's simply not
stable. As soon as there is a suiterunner it will be possible, and
then it should be build that way of course.

Hendrik-Jan

How's this going? I'm interested, since newer Amarok versions can make
use of this library.

Would be too much to ask to send me a mail when the library enters the
archive?

Thanks.

DateTime::Format::Builder creates DateTime parsers. Many string formats of
dates and times are simple and just require a basic regular expression to
extract the relevant information. Builder provides a simple way to do this
without writing reams of structural code.
 .
Builder provides a number of methods, most of which you'll never need, or
at least rarely need. They're provided more for exposing of the module's
innards to any subclasses, or for when you need to do something slightly
 beyond what I expected.

I have a basic package at
http://jameswestby.net/scratch/python-debtags_0.1-1.dsc

I am willing to finish the package off if you do not want to take it
from here, but only if you add a license and copyright information.
There are also a few other things that would be good, but I'll leave
that for now.

Let me know if you want me to continue,

James

Bug#387629: ITP: libdatetime-format-builder-perl -- Create DateTime parser classes and objects

2006-09-15 Thread gregor herrmann

* Package name: libdatetime-format-builder-perl
  Version : 0.7807
  Upstream Author : Kellan Elliott-McCrea
* URL : http://www.cpan.org/modules/by-module/DateTime/
* License : Perl
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Create DateTime parser classes and objects

DateTime::Format::Builder creates DateTime parsers. Many string formats of
dates and times are simple and just require a basic regular expression to
extract the relevant information. Builder provides a simple way to do this
without writing reams of structural code.
 .
Builder provides a number of methods, most of which you'll never need, or
at least rarely need. They're provided more for exposing of the module's
innards to any subclasses, or for when you need to do something slightly
 beyond what I expected.

Oh, yes! I'd love to. I didn't know of pkg-python-debian.

Hi guys, I have a module for you :)

I think you should merge this package (maybe not the wxwindow GUI, but
still ...) with the efforts of the pkg-python-debian project (ML on
Alioth Cc-ed and ITP bug report Cc-ed).

Part of the effort is developing python libraries to access Debian
"information" about packages and stuff. It seems to me the right place
for python-debtags as well.

Cheers.

I don't care how complex the python policy is: I just don't want to
learn it just for this package. I prefer to spend my time doing
upstream development.

If you instead want to talk about stupid people involved in the recent
python policy changes, you better don't.

You don't have to learn the python policy. Your fear is only the result
of stupid people trying to make python packaging look too complex. The
truth is, it is *not* complex.

Bug#365728: Preliminary Debian package of Helium

2006-09-15 Thread Arjan Oosting
Hi,

I have prepared preliminary Debian package of Helium, the programming
language and compiler designed for learning Haskell.

The Debian package is available for Debian unstable from my repository
[1] and can be installed by adding the following snippet
to /etc/apt/sources.list:

 deb http://moonshine.dnsalias.org/debian unstable/

and executing apt-get update && apt-get install helium

It can also by installed by downloading the .deb file from
http://moonshine.dnsalias.org/debian/unstable/helium_1.6-0.1_i386.deb
and installing the downloaded .deb file with
dpkg -i helium_1.6-0.1_i386.deb

The Debian package is still missing man pages for helium, lvmrun and
texthint. When I have written these I will try to get this package
sponsored into the Debian archive.

Python module to access Debtags information.

The package also provide some tools and a wxpython-based prototype for a
Debian package smart search interface.

I'm looking for someone to package svn://svn.debian.org/debtags/python
for me: it's simple enough python stuff (one Debian.py and a few

2.4), but I don't want to learn the python policy just for it.

Bug#296117: Hijacking JaxMe

2006-09-15 Thread Marcus Better
Hi,

since the packaging of JaxMe seems to have stalled and it's blocking other
things, I'm thinking of simply finishing it up and getting it uploaded,
starting from Wolfgang's work:
  http://www.home.uos.de/wbaer/downloads/ForUpload/

Any objections?

Bug#387596: RFA: root-portal -- Monitors the system and displays the results on the desktop

2006-09-15 Thread Tollef Fog Heen

Package: wnpp

Hi,

I no longer have time to maintain root-portal so I'm asking if anybody
wants to maintain it. One of the packages it depends on, libzvt is
orphaned so it probably requires a bit of work to port root-portal to
use vte instead.

If nobody picks it up, I'll ask for removal in a bit.
