Bug#362216: Package available

2006-10-03 Thread Michal Čihař

It's GNU FDL (and thus targeted to non-free) and there is AFAIK no such
condition there.

Well data is edited online in MySQL database, any other format is just
export from it.

There would be also slight problem with CSV sources that they stay on
upstream server only for one day, so checksum can not be verified.

Anyway I'm open to change, I will probably ask on -mentors for more
opinions.

Bug#390037: ITP: toilet -- create ASCII and ANSI art from text

It has UTF-8 input, so all it needs is a font with the appropriate
glyphs. I found at least one: figlet's banner.flf has the katakana set
(but no hiragana or kanjis):

% toilet -d /usr/share/figlet -f banner コンニチハ
 # ##
 ## # # ##
  # # # ## # # #
  ######
  # ## # # #
  ### ## # #
 # ####

It's not a very nice font but maybe I could get help from Japanese
Unicode artists to draw a font. If saw some pretty talented people on
the iichan message boards (though they seem to rather use the Mona font
and not a fixed-width font).

Regards,

Bug#337282: successful compile on debian etch

procedure for it, inspired by a throughout compilation guide:

Yes, I've encountered this guide. I was planning on following it as I
make the irssi-silc package.

Here's my procedure:

http://wiki.koumbit.net/TheAnarcat/SilcIrssi

Excellent. Thank you very much.

It is my belief, however, that this will not be successfully packaged
until we have a silc-client package (#388690), or at least its source,
because the compilation process is a bit ackward and jumps from one
tree

to the other between irssi, silc-client and silc-plugin.

Yeah, I feel the same way. That's why I'm also the owners of the silc-
server and silc-client ITPs as well :)

I would be very happy to see this plugin live in etch and would
like to

help.

I've been able to convince work to let me spend some of my time
working on Debian related activities, so I hope to have furfilled my
outstanding ITPs in the next few weeks.

Some help would be great, as it could help get this package into
Etch. I'm afraid I won't be looking at this or any of my other ITPs
this week.

Ping me by email next week and we'll see what we can accomplish :)

Control X from the command line for scripts, and do "visual scraping" to
find things on the screen. The control interface allows mouse movement,
clicking, button up/down, key up/down, etc, and uses the XTest extension so
you don't have the annoying problems that xse has when apps ignore sent
events. The visgrep program find images inside of images and reports the
coordinates, allowing programs to find buttons, etc, on the screen to click
 on.

Bug#390856: RFA: ion3-scripts -- ion3-scripts

2006-10-03 Thread René van Bevern
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ion3-scripts package. I don't use it
anymore. The things the adopter has to do include packaging new
snapshots from the ion-scripts-3 repository at
http://modeemi.cs.tut.fi/~tuomov/repos/ and eventually fixing bugs in
existing scripts.

Nearly every script has its own upstream author with varying activeness
and varying skills in Lua programming. The adopter should be able to
write Lua or be willing to learn it. Knowing Lua is really important to
fix upstream bugs in this package.

René

The package description is:
Provides user-contributed add-ons to the Ion 3 window manager,
 Including:
  * scripts that can alter Ion's window management behaviour
  * monitors for Ion's statusbar to monitor disk usage, network
traffic, battery and more.
  * multiple themes that change Ion's look

Bug#390858: RFA: ion3-mod-ionflux -- remote control for the ion3 window manager

2006-10-03 Thread René van Bevern
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ion3-scripts package. I don't use it
anymore. The things the adopter has to do include packaging new
snapshots (rare) from the mod_ionflux-3 repository at
http://modeemi.cs.tut.fi/~tuomov/repos/ and rebuild the package for each
new release of the ion3 window manager until it becomes stable.

Ok, so by source I probably meant these CSV files, what the GPL calls
"preferred form of modification". If the package is GPL (I forget) then
this is required to be distributable.

My concerns were raised due to the fact that the source package only
contains binary files, so it is unlikely that is the format they are
edited in.

Description : a very small data compression library

LibLZF is a very small data compression library. It consists of only two .c
and two .h files and is very easy to incorporate into your own programs. The
compression algorithm is very, very fast, yet still written in portable C.

I need this for static linking in the muswsusp binaries resume and suspend.
That's why I only intend to provide the a liblzf-dev. The upstream author
also only provides infrastructure for static linking.

Hi,

After some discussion on d-d and with my sponsor, I decided to include
the source of liblzf in the tarball of uswsusp. The rational was:
1) Very small
2) Has alternatives in archive
3) Only building liblzf-dev is weird
4) Don't feel like porting uswsusp to something else

Well, if anyone reading this needs liblzf-dev anyway, I'll be happy to
split it out of uswsusp again; I have the debian/ files for building it
ready.

Hi again! =)

Hehe, my sources aren't apt-gettable at the moment. However, if you
did look into the tauware.de link you should see my directory index
containing the source and binary packages for my version of Sid's
ntfs-3g.

I've taken a peek at your package, and it does look almost like mine,
with the exception of mine being CDBS-ed and having the autotools
stuff updated. Your package however does seem to explicitly define
the shlibs:Depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1) for libntfs-3g; why is this?

At any rate, your package looks good (you even have a chrpath to
remove the RPATH, which I didn't see earlier, and that seems to be
good :D); I suppose you could also provide a README.Debian like I did
to explain how to use this driver under Debian.

Cheers,

Zakame

Actually, this reminds me: during debconf6 I asked for a piuparts
project on alioth, but I forget what the name was (pkg-piuparts?) and
what happened to it (not much, I suspect), and I have no idea what the
procedure is for assigning ownership of the project to someone else.

If I'm needed for the reassigning, tell me what to do. I have no
experience using alioth for anything except this aborted piuparts
attempt, and that wasn't pleasant, so I don't know what to do.

I don't like cdbs much and many dev think the same :-)
I guess a debhelper based package is better, but it's only my opinion.
The depends has been found by dh_makeshlibs, what's the problem ?

I had a look and provide a README.Debian with some kind of Quickstart guide.
I also added a KNOWN_BUGS file found on the ntfs-3g guy post on sourceforge.

Your package is arch any but upstream said it only works on 32 bits system
little endian, so I set my package arch i386 mipsel and arm.

Well I found the libntfs-3g.substvars file inside ./debian source,
isn't that supposed to be automatically generated at every build and
removed at every clean?

Ooh, cool! =)

I see; I crafted my package back when I was in quick need to have NTFS
write support so I didn't bother checking with upstream about the
arches supported. Nice to know the limits. :D

I have just orphaned (by doing an upload setting the maintainer to QA)
the publib source package (producing the publib-dev binary package). I'm
also freezing my upstream development. I haven't really used the code
for many years, and every time someone else does, they find embarrassing
mistakes.

If anyone wants to adopt the Debian package, they might want to consider
adopting it upstream as well.

I've CCd (I hope) the maintainers of the two packages that are reverse
build dependencies of publib-dev (there's a third, liwc, but I'm the
maintainer of that, except I'm orphaning that, too).

The package description is:
This library contains functions for memory allocation, bit arrays,
comparing standard C types for qsort and bsearch, error messages,
filenames, hash tables, integer sets, log files, NNTP, priority queues,
normal queues, editor buffers, stacks, and strings.

I would be interested in co-maintaining this package. I don't think I
have the time to give it the full attention it would need (e.g. filing
bugs on packages that fail), but I could handle it with one or two other
people.

I'd hate to see piuparts disappear... So if there's someone else who is
interested but wasn't planning on adopting because of the time
commitment, let's team up!

An impressive MSX1 megademo, coming as a 512k MegaROM.
PSG Samples, smooth scrolls and cool effects: this demo has got it all.
It is a nice showcase and testcase for the different MSX emulators in
Debian, as it takes hardware emulation timing requirements to the
 extreme.
