Bug#391168: ITP: grepcidr -- Search files for IP addresses or CIDR ranges

2006-10-05 Thread Ryan Finnie
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ryan Finnie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: grepcidr
  Version : 1.3
  Upstream Author : Jem Berkes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.pc-tools.net/unix/grepcidr/
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Filter IP addresses matching IPv4 CIDR/network specification

grepcidr can be used to filter a list of IP addresses against one or
more Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) specifications, or arbitrary
networks specified by an address range. As with grep, there are options
to invert matching and load patterns from a file. grepcidr is capable of
comparing thousands or even millions of IPs to networks with little
memory usage and in reasonable computation time.

grepcidr has endless uses in network software, including: mail filtering
and processing, network security, log analysis, and many custom
applications.

Can you do that after a first try with arch any to see whether it
builds/works or not? :)

Maybe upstream authors said that, because they have not tested it
elsewhere so far...

Sounds great. Will that mean that Enblend can be built against a .so of
libvigra? That will be even better :-)

I don't really mind being part of a team, but I'd have to be honest and
say that right now I'm unlikely to be very active on it as I have moved
on to a few other projects that are taking up a lot of my time
currently.

The world can always use another bug. This way you get to close two
bugs straight away with a release!

Andrew.

No, unfortunately not yet. enblend requires some modifications that did not
make it into the official vigra release yet.

Well, I did not ask for help. I just did not want to take this package away
from anybody else interested in maintaining it :-)

Hi,

I'm interested in co-maintaining it. I'm the maintainer of Hugin and
libpano12, I'm using them regularly to make panoramas from my pictures,
and I would be happy to co-maintain enblend.

I'm not a DD, but I'm quite experimented with packaging, managing
bugs,...

dvipng suitable for generating large amounts of images
 on-the-fly.
 .
dvipng does not read the postamble, so it can be started before TeX

dvipng supports PK, VF, PostScript Type1, and TrueType fonts, color

Description: A program for Cassegrain antenna modelling
Cassbeam is a Cassegrain antenna ray tracer. A Cassegrain antenna
is a double reflector system which works on the principle of cassegrain
optical telescope. A high gain cassegrain reflector antenna in Ku-band
has been successfully developed for command transmit application for the
missile programme. It can also be used for monopulse radar, satellite
 communication.
 .
Based on an input text file, it computes several properties of the
antenna including gain, zenith system temperature, and the beam, in full
polarization. All calculations are done in the transmit sense
and use reciprocity to relate to the equivalent receiving system.
 .
Additionally, cassbeam allows deformations, or pathologies of the
optics to be modelled. Currently this is limited to rotations and
translations of the feed and secondary. In the future, large scale
deviations in the primary (such as a misplaced panel) will likely be
 supported.

How does that make xmms-pipe preferable over xmms-infopipe, which also
creates a pipe interface to xmms?

I consider doing it but in this case I would add a high priority debconf
message.

What do you think about something like that ? Feel free to correct it, my
english is not native ;-)

THIS SOFTWARE IS STILL EXPERIMENTAL AND MAY CAUSE UNRECOVERABLE DATA LOSS.

For now ntfs-3g is available for all Debian architectures but upstream say it
works for 32 bits / little endian systems.

Many users reported it worked like a charm on i386, I don't know what will
happen on ANY OTHER ARCHITECTURES.

TRY IT AT YOU OWN RISK, and please report if it works or not on the Debian
Bugs Tracking System.

In that case, I think it is appropriate, unlike the i18n/l10n folks
who seem to hate those notes nowadays...

Mine neither, but I believe we can manage. :)

I would rather say:

Presently, ntfs-3g is available for all Debian architectures.
However, upstream says it only works for 32-bit little-endian
  systems.

> Many users reported it worked like a charm on i386, I don't know what will

Debconf templates should not use the first person, so I would say:

Many users reported it to work like a charm on i386. Unfortunately,
the behaviour on ANY OTHER ARCHITECTURES is unknown so far.

And here:

TRY IT AT YOU OWN RISK! Please consider filing a bug report whether
it works or not on other architectures.

Description : Perl interface to libxml2's xmlXPathContext

This module augments XML::LibXML by providing Perl interface to libxml2's
xmlXPathContext structure. Besides just performing xpath statements on
XML::LibXML's node trees it allows redefining certaint aspects of XPath
engine. This modules allows

  1. registering namespace prefixes,
  2. defining XPath functions in Perl,
  3. defining variable lookup functions in Perl.
  4. cheating the context about current proximity position and
 context size

The module libnet-amazon-s3-perl (needed by backup-manager) depends on
this module, as I intent to package libnet-amazon-s3-perl, as also
intent to package that one.

The library XML::LibXML::XPathContext will be included in XML::LibXML
soon.

So it's not worth packaging it as it's a matter of time for finding it
in libxml-libxml-perl.

I then close that ITP.

Bug#376415: RFS: haskell-uulib

2006-10-05 Thread Arjan Oosting
Hi,

I renew my request for sponsorship of haskell-uulib. I have updated the
package after some comments of James Westby and got clarification about
the license of some parts of the library. Below is the usual information
for a RFS:

As I am still in the NM queue I am searching for a sponsor for
"haskell-uulib".

* Package name: haskell-uulib
  Version : 0.9.2-2

It builds these binary packages:
libghc6-uulib-dev - parser and pretty print combinator library for GHC 6
libhugs-uulib - parser and pretty print combinator library for hugs98
haskell-uulib-doc - API documentation for uulib Haskell library

The package is linda an lintian clean.

An upload would close ITP bug 376415

The package can be downloaded from my repository:
- URL: http://moonshine.dnsalias.org/debian/unstable
- Source repo: deb-src http://moonshine.dnsalias.org/debian unstable/

An upload would be appreciated.

  Programming Lang: C++
Description : C++ library for Security Assertion Markup Language

OpenSAML is a set of open source toolkit for implementing the SAML 1.0
and 1.1 specifications. SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is an
XML-based framework for communicating user authentication, entitlement,
and attribute information. SAML allows entities to make assertions
regarding the identity, attributes, and entitlements of a subject (an
entity that is often a human user) to other entities, such as a partner
organization or another application.

This library is one of the prerequisites for Shibboleth.

Note that RSA Security holds patents they claim cover material in the
OpenSAML 1.0 and 1.1 specifications but has filed a public convenant that
it will not assert any patent claims against OpenSAML implementations.
See for that
statement, which will also be included in the debian/copyright file of the
package.

Bug#390754: piuparts alioth project

2006-10-05 Thread John Wright
Whoops, I didn't read the bug thread before replying on -devel and
CC-ing here...

I'm interested in joining the piuparts project on alioth. My alioth
username is jsw-guest.

Also, for what it's worth, Lars was developing piuparts on a bzr
branch[1], which might be easier to collaborate with than a new svn
repo (and revision history is nice to have...).

Thanks!

Debconf is 'gettext ready' and french translation is included.

The package has been reuploaded to mentors, still same URL.

Bug#391309: RFP: gnome-app-install - the easiest-to-use software installation tool available

2006-10-05 Thread Jason Spiro

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

I started porting gnome-app-install (the Add/Remove Programs tool)
from Ubuntu to Debian but the work has been going slowly. If anyone
would like to take over the job and take over maintainership that's
fine. You can find my work so far in this apt repo:

deb http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian experimental/
deb-src http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian experimental/

Or download my work from
http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian/experimental/ manually.

It'd be appreciated if you emailed me telling me you were starting
work on this package so that if I had done more work we could sync.

Regards,
Jason Spiro

Description : A fast, enjoyable HTML parser

Hpricot is a fast, flexible HTML parser written in C. It's designed to be very
accomodating (like Tanaka Akira's HTree) and to have a very helpful library
(like some JavaScript libs -- JQuery, Prototype -- give you.)

Also, Hpricot can be handy for reading broken XML files, since many of the same
principles are used. If a quote is missing, Hpricot tries to figure it out.
If tags overlap, Hpricot works on sorting them out.

Bug#391309:

2006-10-05 Thread Jason Spiro

FYI, my TODO list for the experimental package I made:

* change common.py to use a nicer generic icon when a requested icon is
 unavailable
* this package should add itself to the bottom of the gnome Applications menu
 (see http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=724&slide=47) or
the KDE K menu as "Add/Remove..." just like it shows up in Ubuntu.
* comply with Python policy (thanks to stew on IRC for the tip)
* manpage - just copy some other gnome app's manpage and modify
* fix issue where top-right corner drop-down is blank at first
* adding apps from Debian non-free doesn't work - only Ubuntu restricted is
 supported. fix it.

If I put out a package version 0.2.15-3 it will have these todos
included in the TODO file.

Bug#391342: ITP: jsmath -- TeX equations in HTML documents

2006-10-05 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Package: wnpp
Owner: Yaroslav Halchenko <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: jsmath
  Version : 3.3e
Upstream Author : Davide P. Cervone
* URL or Web page : http://www.math.union.edu/~dpvc/jsMath
* License : Apache License 2.0
Description : TeX equations in HTML documents
The jsMath package provides a method of including mathematics in HTML
pages that works across multiple browsers under Windows, Macintosh OS
X, Linux and other flavors of Unix. It overcomes a number of the
shortcomings of the traditional method of using images to represent
mathematics: jsMath uses native fonts, so they resize when you change
the size of the text in your browser, they print at the full
resolution of your printer, and you don't have to wait for dozens of
images to be downloaded in order to see the mathematics in a web
 page.
 .
There are also advantages for web-page authors, as there is no
need to preprocess your web pages to generate any images, and the
mathematics is entered in TeX form, so it is easy to create and
 maintain your web pages.

P.S. Unfortunately I don't have tentative packages yet but I will
package it rather soon since I want to use it, thus I need an easy and
automatic upgrade system ;-)
