Initial package is hosted on alioth :

For now, this is only the ubuntu package, but tonight i will work on it.

When i will have finished with bringing it to svn-buildpackage + other
stuff i will ask for a review (probably tonight).

Hi,

I had already intended to do this, this ITP was just a procedural
notification to the list really. I have uploaded a trial version to
experimental to get it moving through the new queue.

I'm also working on some Python bindings which will hopefully somehow
make it in at some stage soon (if anyone really understands reference
counting in the Python C API I wouldn't mind a review to make sure it
isn't a giant memory sink!)

Thanks,

-i

According to http://www.noos.fr/corporate/societe_infoslegales.php the
company "social denomination" (I'm not sure about the English translation)
is just "NOOS"...

Also, according to the French industrial property institute
(http://www.icimarques.com), "NOOS" is a registered trademark in France and
"noos" a registered trademark in Europe.

Of course someone should double check this because I'm not an IP specialist
at all. I've also absolutely no idea on the impact this can have on the
package.

Actually, I was simply concerned about having users complaining that
installing noos does not help them to have a working network, or finding
packages.debian.org when doing a google with debian+noos as keywords...

  Upstream Author : Luc Pionchon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/download/source/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : two player board game for GPE

Go is played by alternately placing black and white stones on the
vacant intersections of a 19x19 rectilinear grid. A stone or a group of
stones is captured and removed if it is tightly surrounded by stones of
the opposing colour. The objective is to control a larger territory than
the opponent by placing one's stones so they cannot be captured. The
game ends and the score is counted when both players consecutively pass
on a turn, indicating that neither side can increase its territory or
reduce its opponent's; the game can also end by resignation.

Bug#407123: More information on gpe-othello

The original source contained no copyright or licence information,

Copyright holders are therefore:
"Joseph J. McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Florent Boudet <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Jean Christophe Hoelt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The licence for the original code and Joseph's modifications is the
GNU General Public Licence, as detailed above.

The description has also been extended:

Othello is also known as Reversi. gpe-othello is a
strategic boardgame for the GPE Palmtop Environment
which involves play against a handheld computer on
an eight-by-eight square grid with pieces that have
 light and dark faces.
 .
The player places light-faced pieces so that there is
at least one straight (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal)
line between the new piece and another light piece, with
one or more contiguous dark pieces between them. Pieces
captured in this manner are turned over and can be used
in later moves. The winner has the most number of pieces
showing the appropriate face when the grid is full or when
the other player has no pieces of their own colour left.

The revised description is:

gpe-go is a also known as Weiqi in Chinese, Igo in Japanese and
Baduk in Korean. gpe-go brings go to the GPE Palmtop Environment.

gpe-go is played by alternately placing black and white stones on the

Bug#362584: xindy debian package

2007-01-16 Thread Norbert Preining
Hi Jörg!

Vladimir asked me to push the xindy project a bit forward. I wanted to
ask you what is the current status of xindy? I have seen your files on
http://www.minet.uni-jena.de/~joergs/debian/
but the source package does not unpack because the .orig.tar.gz sizes do
mismatch.

I have unpacked the stuff by hand, applied the debian diff, build it,
installed it, as far as here it did work all without any problems, only
the already mentioned size mismatch!

Do you plan to continue supporting/maintaining this package? If yes I
can play the sponsor.

One question for this: Do you have some test cases I can see?

Best wishes

Norbert

As said, i am having trouble caring about the parted package as it
should, I have become the default maintainer of parted, when Timshell
decided he had no more time, but never really had plans to take over
full maintainership of parted. Also, i have a bit of trouble handling
bug reports about partition tables i have not access too.

I thus profit from the new RH tag that was just announced to
request co-maintainership of it. Ideally i would like someone with
experience with MBR partition tables, as those will be the major part of
those bug reports, and maybe a maintainer team, with one team member for
each supported partition table and/or arch would be the best.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

you are.
Do you contact the upstream developer (as he includes debian
packages on its website) ? Are you still interested in packaging
this software ?
As I am DD (for a few months ;-) ), I will be able to sponsor
your packages if needed.

  Best regards,
Vincent

Bug#406992: ITP: VirtualBox -- x86 virtualization solution

2007-01-16 Thread Frank Mehnert
Hi,

we would like to provide the Debian package for the OSE version ourself. Any
help is appreciated. I will start providing the current build scripts for
the package we used for the existing packages (will take a day or so).

We also would like to get the non-OSE version included into non-free with
a hint that this version has some more features than the OSE version.

Kind regards,

Frank

What fails? The dpkg-source command?

% wget -q
http://www.minet.uni-jena.de/~joergs/debian/xindy_2.2\~beta2-1.diff.gz \
http://www.minet.uni-jena.de/~joergs/debian/xindy_2.2\~beta2-1.dsc \
http://www.minet.uni-jena.de/~joergs/debian/xindy_2.2\~beta2.orig.tar.gz
% dpkg-source -x xindy_2.2\~beta2-1.dsc
dpkg-source: extracting xindy in xindy-2.2~beta2
%

Does dget work?

Hey, this would be great, really great.

> One question for this: Do you have some test cases I can see?

Ehm, what do you expect? I've a project[1] that uses Xindy, but I've never
created special test cases. But upstream ships some tests with the tar.gz
they are run at build time.

Schöne Grüße, Jörg.
