This is not possible because mythtv need to depends on liblame. I
think you can close this RFP.

Bug#92571: marked as done (RFP: webmin-debconf -- a frontend to debconf using the webmin framework)

2007-02-13 Thread Drew Scott Daniels
I wonder whether the webmin-debconf ITP/RFP is worth keeping open. Perhaps a
description of situations where it would be useful would be enough for
someone else to help out. Perhaps it should be changed to
webmin-cdebconf.

Additionally, please post any information relevant to other people that
may want to implement a webmin debconf like front end.
Thanks,

MythTV contains (or contained) a copy of ffmpeg, which was at the time not
allowed into Debian. That has changed now, though I'm not sure whether it
required changes to the upstream source or license which would need to be
reflected in MythTV as well.

Bug#388701: Why Beryl has just four packages?

2007-02-13 Thread Anibal Avelar

Hi. I see you have in queue NEW three packages: beryl-plugins,
beryl-settings and emerald [1] and not ready (yet) beryl.

I know beryl has another packages:

beryl-dbus
beryl-manager

and optionally:

emerald-themes
aquamarine
heliodor

Do you have plans for the others packages?

Because, I have been waiting from the begining those packages, I built
my own packages [2] and I uploaded them in my unofficial Debian
repository:

deb http://fixxxer.cc/debian unstable/
deb-src http://fixxxer.cc/debian unstable/

I have built five packages: beryl, beryl-manager, beryl-plugins,
beryl-settings and emerald from the 0.1.4 version. Please, check
them.

I just proved them under Intel chipsets, and they are working fine (so far).

Shawn, I would appreciate if you will let me help you. I'm Debian
maintainer and I have a great interest in beryl.

Regards

Bug#383316: FoF package for Debian

2007-02-13 Thread Jason Spiro

2007/2/13, Miriam Ruiz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

I'm not very much into the legal things, so I'm a bit lost on how to solve it.
Jason Spiro (I'm CC'ing him) has offered to help me with this.

Hi Sami,

First of all, thanks very much for releasing Frets on Fire under the
GPL. It's a great game, and we at Debian[1] would love to get it
included in our distro. But there are three licensing-related issues:
the fonts, the built-in songs, and the other data files.

I know that this licensing stuff is time-consuming and boring, and I
regret that it is taking up your time. But think of the reward at the
end: a fully Open Source FoF package, including code, graphics, and
music, that will be used by Linux users worldwide. :-)

== Fonts ==

I don't know anything about fonts and licensing. But, I propose that,
for now, we design the Debian FoF package to use DFSG-free fonts. We
can look more into the fonts situation later. What do you think of
that idea?

== Built-in songs ==

How much does it cost for a Teosto permit? Perhaps nobody would be
too offended if we tried to raise money on the debian-user list[2] to
pay for the permit? I could make a small contribution as well.

== Other data, including tutorial ==

Is it possible you could get the other data, including the tutorial,
relicensed under the GPL? This would simplify things, as it is
unclear whether Creative Commons Attribution-licensed work can go in
the Debian "main" repository. Using the GPL would simplify things for
us. If this relicensing would be difficult, let me know; there are
other licensing options.

Regards,
Jason Spiro

[1] I am not a Debian Developer, but I still would love to get FoF
included in Debian.

[2] Or perhaps we can raise money at www.ubuntuforums.org? Ubuntu
would benefit from the package finally getting into Debian since they
automatically pull in all Debian packages into their "universe"
repository too. :-)

And this can all happen after etch. I don't care about pushing
packages for use in derived distros; I'm not participating in such a
 distro.

So my priority should be working on a clean package so that it can be
synced to Ubuntu? Thanks, but no thanks.

You can't imagine how it pisses me off to read from a DD that I should
focus on packages which can not be included in the next Debian release
so that Ubuntu can pull them. Not only is this distracting me from
other Debian tasks, but it's also encouraging me to stop working on --
say -- closing RC bugs, for the benefit of $concurrent_distro. And to
top it off, a *DD* is doing this, someone who should know how painfully
slow the release process already is.

seems you got me wrong Loïc.
First you should take a fresh beer to calm down a bit ;-)
next, you only focused on the 3rd thing I've stated (remember the 2
first! not for etch but only etch+1, ok, but still for Debian or
upstream).

you know what pisses me off with DD having your attitude, it's that
they think the battle is FLOSS against FLOSS and distros against
distros.
Yeah, a great deal for redmond guy, continue, you're on the good
way... to nowhere!

And finally:
- etch release doesn't stop me from uploading to sid and finding ftbts
and other problems for new software versions (even things that can hit
etch), while I'm not at rc bug killing.
- I'm the kind of DD who has made a partnership with an awful
industrial (MGE) that is supporting Debian (good) but also awfully
other distros (bad bad)
- I'm the kind of DD who is also an upstream in many areas, and who
like to see things well done from the top (upstream) to the bottom
(distros and user experience), whatever the distro is, the only point
is to be free...
- if there was no blocker, a simple upload wasn't worth such a mail!

Quite frankly guy, you aren't shooting at the right target... and
you're pissing on your shoes!
And to cry a bit louder, you should have cc'ed -devel, and possibly
fwd'ed to -private about this traitor DD!

Arnaud (now, I'll take my break to calm myself down!)

Bug#377777: elisa and debian

No blocker, I'm just busy with higher priority stuff. The current
 focus is the next stable release;

I do know ;-)
but you only consider the etch release there...

new packages wont make it, so these
 are not relevant for now.

not relevant for etch, but you don't consider:
- the buildd and compilation/arch problem that can be faced and
solved, without waiting for etch to be released,
- the possibility for others to audit and help to improve the package,
- the possibility for sid derived distro to use all that.

Anyway, packages are available outside, so that's not a big issue.

Thanks for your work on the subject,
Arnaud

Bug#333756:

2007-02-13 Thread Fernando Silva

I've been using Roundcube on my server for almost 8 months and about
15 of my customers use it everyday (yes, they prefer Roundcube than
Horde or Squirel).

Despite the fact Roundcube is still beta, it deserves more testers, so
it can be quickly released as an official version and I'm willing to
test all debian packages made for it.

Bug#383316: FoF package for Debian

2007-02-13 Thread Miriam Ruiz
Hi Sami :)

We're having some problems in Debian about packaging Frets on Fire. You might
want to have a look at the messages thread:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=383316

We've already talked about the song's licenses, that's one of the things we'd
have to do, to find a replacement at least for the tutorial. We'd also have to
replace some of the fonts, and clarify the license of the data contents (is it
a CC license?)

I'm not very much into the legal things, so I'm a bit lost on how to solve it.
Jason Spiro (I'm CC'ing him) has offered to help me with this.

Greetings and really lots of thanks :)
Miry

Bug#383316: FretsOnFire

2007-02-13 Thread Matthew Johnson

On Mon, 12 Feb 2007, Jason Spiro wrote:

The explanation Miriam had seems rather odd---if they copyright holders
agree to licence them the agency which was linked to should have nothing
to do with it. OTOH, if they are using songs which aren't original by
them, there could be a problem.

What explanation? What agency?

Ah, it was sent to -games and not the bug:

In a previous mail:

"""
Oh, and about the songs used in the game, I'm afraid we can't give

those up for redistribution due to the regulations of the Finnish
Composers' Copyright Society
(http://www.teosto.fi/teosto/webpages.nsf/mainpages/etusivu_englanti?opendocument).

We would have to buy a licence from them to allow the songs to be
redistributed, even for free-of-charge distribution. In my opinion it's
insane, but those are the rules. So I guess the Debian package will have
to be made so that it downloads the songs from our webserver upon
installation. Would that work okay?
"""

If the authors licence them for redistribution then teosto should have
nothing to do with it, but I'm not au fait with the finer points of
Finnish copyright law.

Matt

Bug#410775: O: psh -- interactive shell with the power of perl

2007-02-13 Thread Emiliano Ticci

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I would like to orphan the psh package, because I no longer use it.

I believe it could be removed from the archive: there's no upstream
activity from years.
