Bug#391309: RFP: gnome-app-install - the easiest-to-use software installation tool available
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Jason Spiro a écrit : Hi Adam and Loïc, Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, right around the time I opened the bug report http://bugs.debian.org/391309 I got frustrated ( porting g-a-i took more patience than I had :-D ) and I didn't work on it anymore. But see below. 2007/3/10, Loïc Minier [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'd like to get gnome-app-install in Debian ASAP, preferably under pkg-gnome co-maintenance. I would like to benefit of your efforts to Debianize the Ubuntu package, but there were newer versions of the package in Ubuntu addressing some of your TODOs mentionned in #391309 (at least the Python policy stuff). Maybe uupdate(1) (it's in apt somewhere) could help you merge all the stuff together? I don't know personally: I've never used uupdate myself. Would you one of you two (or you two) be interested in being the official Debian maintainer(s) with the GNOME team as uploaders? Do you have time to prepare the package right now? I would like to import the package in pkg-gnome ASAP, perhaps starting with the Ubuntu version and merging any Debianization changes you did; if you're interested in maintaining this package, I can start with the import and give you commit rights to do the merging. Please let me know if you're not interested in maintaining the package; in all cases, I'm interested in any help to integrate the latest version of the package (0.3.26) with Debian. I am not willing to prepare the package (would take me too much time) but if you are working on it and get stuck with a problem, or have general architectural questions, I am glad to help. Contact me by Jabber (jasonspiro at gmail.com), MSN, or email. Also, once the package works, if you don't want to maintain it, I can. (Notes: I am not a Debian Developer, and I no longer use Debian much; mostly Ubuntu instead. I still have a machine with etch installed though it only has 100MB or so of disk free. I am involved with emacs add-on development nowadays and haven't been spending any time on Debian stuff.) Adam, are you willing to package g-a-i? Loïc, do you know: are the pkg-gnome people willing to package it? Are you? By the way: here are my ideas for gnome-app-install: It sounds to me like it would be annoying to maintain a full set of patches on top of gnome-app-install that would apply to Debian. Maybe it's better if g-a-i did checks at runtime to see what OS it was running on and used different available-repository information and such based on that? Should you or I contact upstream g-a-i maintainers (g-a-i upstream is a bunch of Ubuntu developers AFAIK) and ask them if we could have commit rights so we could get that? Cheers, Jason P.S. Adam, I didn't get your reply: the BTS did not send me a CC of it. I don't know why. Do you know: is the BTS automatically supposed to send bug reporters copies of all replies to a bug report? If not, why not? Hi, For now I don't have much time to work on it, however I could give a few help if needed. Sorry! Regards, Adam. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFF9QlrHNb/igTI5bsRAgtqAJsFaeRHYTYxctDZpXKIDxTixx4lgACdHRlp nITLl+sSmjRIetZx0OnTbKQ= =LBu/ -END PGP SIGNATURE-
Bug#403619: Morph-it now LGPLed; Morphy license
Hi Jason, OK. Note: I bet the new version is exactly the same as the old version one minor revision below it, just with new license terms. Sorry, you've lost your bet ;) I rebuilt the dictionary in the weekend - and it contains several thousand changes compared to 0.4.3. In general, it's not a problem for me to rebuilt binary dictionaries. I didn't upload the new binary to my internal distribution server just because I was checking various options that would make dictionaries more compact. Normally what happens, is that during an assessment, if a local account is compromised, then sucrack is copied across and an attack against root occurs. Other than the practical uses outlined above, because having binaries on a system outside of the package management system is a PITA to keep track of / update and it makes building a new system very quick. I can see this tool isn't for everyone, but then that probably goes for a large number of tools packaged by Debian (depending on what you use your systems for). It makes it possible to build simple contact, information-gathering or data-entry forms through Plone's interface. . To use it, create a form folder, then add form fields as contents. Individual fields can display and validate themselves for testing purposes. The form folder creates a form from all the contained field content objects. . Final disposition of form input is handled via plug in action products. Bug#414621: RFA: mini-dinstall -- daemon for updating Debian packages in a repository
Package: wnpp Severity: normal X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Alex, Alexander, everybody, the mini-dinstall package is up for adoption. Kind regards T. P.S.: If you intend to rely on me as a sponsor: I don't think making *mini*-dinstall a daemon is a good idea. For some more technical opinions of mine, see #385289. The package description is: This program implements a miniature version of the dinstall program which installs packages in the Debian archive. It doesn't require a PostgreSQL database, and is very easy to set up, maintain, and use. mini-dinstall can be run via cron, or as a daemon. . This package is expressly designed for personal apt repositories, and the like. In this vein, it contains fewer sanity checks; for example, it will happily install a lower version of a package. You can also generally just 'rm' files from the repository, and mini-dinstall won't care. In fact, (when run as a daemon) it will automatically detect that the directory changed, and update the Packages file. -- Thomas Viehmann, http://thomas.viehmann.net/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. So far, there are only a few custom fields, widgets and validators, the Record(s)Field/Widget being the mosti generic components. Theses fields exploit the record and records packager directive of Zope's ZPublisher to effectively manage a dictionary (record) or list of dictionaries (records). The dictionary's keys and the data type of their values can be configured in the AT schema declaration. . To demonstrate their usage, there is a demo content type WorkingGroup. To enable it after install, go to portal types and make it implicitly addable or include it in some folderish type's allowed_content_types. . Future plans are to make this product obsolete by moving the Record(s)Field/Widget to Archetypes proper and the specific fields to More Fields and Widgets. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-powerpc Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to ga_IE.UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
