Bug#403584: Help offered

2007-09-06 Thread Mark Hindley
Edouard,

I am offering some help with apt-cacher. As a recent refugee from
apt-proxy (which I cannot get to be stable!), I find apt-cacher much
easier to comprehend.

I am not a DD, so if you are happy to sponsor uploads, I can help.
I am certainly not an expert in perl, but in the first instance, there
are bugs with patches that need addressing. I have certainly run into
some of them over the last few days.

Hi Lorenzo,

OpenFire is quite hard to package, and upstream needs to do some cleanup
first (for example, it ships with libs that should really be packaged
separately).

We don't have an ETA yet.

Description : eXtensible Open Router Platform

The goal is to develop an open source software router platform that
is stable and fully featured enough for production use, and flexible
and extensible enough to enable network research. Currently XORP
implements routing protocols for IPv4 and IPv6 and a unified means to
configure them. In future, we would also like to support custom
 hardware and software forwarding architectures.

XORP is free. It is covered by a BSD-style license and is publicly
available for research, development, and use.

The core team is based at the International Computer Science
Institute in Berkeley, California, but contributors come from around
 the world.

Description: Web application templating system for Python and Twisted
Nevow's main focus is on separating the HTML template from both the
business logic and the display logic, while allowing the programmer
to write pure Python code as much as possible. It separates your code
into 'data' and 'render' functions, a simplified implementation of
traditional MVC. It has various parts which can be used individually
or as a whole, integrated web solution:
 .
  - XHTML templates: contain no programming logic, only nodes tagged
with nevow attributes
  - data/render methods: simplified MVC
  - stan: An s-expression-like syntax for expressing xml in pure python
  - formless: For describing the types of objects which may be passed
to methods of your classes, validating and coercing string input from
either web or command-line sources, and calling your methods
automatically once validation passes
  - freeform: For rendering web forms based on formless type
descriptions, accepting form posts and passing them to formless
validators, and rendering error forms in the event validation fails
  - livepage: Cross-browser JavaScript glue for sending client side
events to the server and server side events to the client after the
page has loaded, without causing the entire page to refresh

Bug#391473: Next steps in systemimager maintenance?

2007-09-06 Thread Roberto C . Sánchez
Dann,

I am interested to know what you feel are the next steps in the
transition for systemimager maintenance. I am still interested in
maintaining the packages or leading the team that does.

In glancing at the bug reports page, it looks like you have been keeping
up with forwarding and tagging the bugs. Based on that, I am going to
guess that the bugs are pretty well already triaged. Is that a fair
assessment?

If there is anything else that I have missed in order to get started,
please let me know.

Regards,

-Roberto

Great! I'm looking forward to a smooth transition.

I think so.

Yes! Please send patches! We really need to get an upload of the
current stable branch in Debian soon. Some work has already been
contributed towards this end. If you've sent patches already and I've
missed them, please re-send - things have a way of getting lost in my
mailbox.

See svn://svn.systemimager.org/svn/systemimager-debian/trunk for
current status.

I'm more than happy to hand systemimager off, but I'd prefer it be to
someone who has been contributing for a while since its a rather
complex package. Of course, if this doesn't happen in the next couple
months I'll probably just need to orphan it and let someone else claim
it w/o the transition period.
