It would have been better if you had asked if you can take this, so now
there is duplicate work beeing done! Actually my package *is* ready and
is jut waiting for my sponsor to upload it.
I would have asked before starting on the package but I figured since it
was nine months since you submitted your ITP and you had not posted any
updates or reasons why it was taking so long, it was unlikely that you
were actively working on it.

Even though my package is not needed, building it wasn't a complete
waste of time for me: it gave me an opportunity to get familiar with the
current Debian Policy and debhelper.

Data::Walk is for data, what File::Find is for file systems. You can
use it for traversing arbitrarily complex Perl data structures.

Its closest relatives on CPAN are currently Data::Traverse and
Data::Walker. Data::Traverse is very similar but can only handle
unblessed references and has less options. Data::Walker offers an
interactive approach for traversing data structures.

Description : Perl module for accurately serializing a data structure as
Perl code

Given a list of scalars or reference variables, writes out their contents in
perl syntax. The references can also be objects. The contents of each variable
is output using the least number of Perl statements as convenient, usually only
one. Self-referential structures, closures, and objects are output correctly.

The return value can be evaled to get back an identical copy of the original
reference structure. In some cases this may require the use of utility subs
that Data::Dump::Streamer will optionally export.

This module is very similar in concept to the core module Data::Dumper, with
the major differences being that this module is designed to output to a stream
instead of constructing its output in memory (trading speed for memory), and
that the traversal over the data structure is effectively breadth first versus
the depth first traversal done by the others.

In fact the data structure is scanned twice, first in breadth first mode to
perform structural analysis, and then in depth first mode to actually produce
the output, but obeying the depth relationships of the first pass.

There was/is an ITP for wired allready, and there was at leas one RFS on
debian-mentors. Please check the mentors archives and the old ITP and
merge them. Probably you can help with maintaining the package.

Bug#377348: Do you still intend to package xdebug?

2007-09-18 Thread Francois Marier
Hi Marcelo,

The ITP you have filed on xdebug (or php-xdebug) is over a year old.

Do you still intend to package xdebug? Have you got packages ready for
testing?

Cheers,

Francois

Bug#442342: RFP: nix-style -- lets you configure various parts of your system

2007-09-18 Thread Dererk

Hi,

I'm afraid this package, by today, as is too heavily under
development, and although it releases alphas very frequently, it's
much more unstable than what SID could stand for.
I saw from a very quick look above the application, that the
gnome-configuration stuff needs to be highly debian-repoliced.
In any case, it does more or less what 'galternatives' and
'configure-debian' does, not big deal.

I recommend this package to wait until a more stable release to be
packaged.

Greetings,

Dererk
