Bug#444144: RFP: adanaxisgpl - FPS game in 4 spatial dimensions

2007-09-26 Thread Andy Southgate
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : adanaxisgpl
Version : 1.2.0
Upstream Author : Andy Southgate <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.mushware.com/files/adanaxisgpl-1.2.0.tar.gz
* License : GPL
Description :

Adanaxis is probably the first real time shooter in four spatial
dimensions (so that's four not including time). Information and reviews
can be found at:

http://www.mushware.com/ (Developer site)
http://www.linuxgamingworld.com/2007/07/adanaxis
http://happypenguin.org/show?Adanaxis

This is the GPL version of the full commercial game. It's stripped of
material that can't be GPL'd, but it's not a demo - it does contain all of
the levels and has no artificial limitations.

Much of the packaging work is already done. You can unpack the tarball
and type ./configure ; make debian-release (or use dpkg-buildpackage
directly) and, with a bit of luck, get a .deb at the end. The code is
64-bit and big/littleendian clean. The binary .debs built for the
commercial release are already available at mushware.com/x11 if you'd like
to take a look.

I am the upstream developer and available to support the packager, modify
the upstream, etc. You will need sound and hardware-accelerated 3D to
meaningfully test the build, and it does take about 15 minutes to compile
on a modern single core. Language is C++ and ruby.

Bug#413128: This ITP remains active.

2007-09-26 Thread Thaddeus H. Black
This ping is just to inform anyone who might be
interested that the ITP is still active. Looking today
at dlmf.nist.gov, I no longer see NIST's schedule to
release the DLMF in 2007. Presumably this means that
the DLMF is delayed.

So, we mathematics fans will patiently have to keep
using Abramowitz & Stegun for the time being. I do mean
to package nist-dlmf when it finally does appear.

Watch this space for further news.

Java game, so probably will end up in contrib.

License is GPL, I'm not sure though whether all art work is free.

Great game (though buggy sometimes...) !

Alexander Schmehl did some prelimiary packages some time ago. But due to
the legal issue with the art work he stopped. Please clear the legal
situation with upstream before doing more work. Last time we asked
upstream dont seem to care really.

Cheers,
Michael

  Thanks a lot. I'll give a deep look into that before any further
packaging.

Many thanks. Problem solved (by repackaging) and package uploaded. Once
that hits the archive, New release of libmail-box-perl will be uploaded too.

Bug#444221: ITP: python-pysizer -- memory profiiler for Python

2007-09-26 Thread Thomas Viehmann
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Owner: Thomas Viehmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: python-pysizer
  Version : 0.1.1
  Upstream Authors: Nick Smallbone
* URL : http://pysizer.8325.org/
* License : BSD-like
  Programming Lang: Python, basically
  Description : memory profiler for Python
 PySizer lets you analyse the memory usage of your Python programs and
 makes data such as memory usage by objects of a certain type readily
 available.
 This package contains the parts of PySizer written in Python. There
 is an optional patch to python itself to collect more information, but
 that has not been compiled into the stock Debian python binaries.

As always, suggestions (better description, etc.) are very welcome.
There might be room for improvement.
python-pysizer will likely be comaintained by the python-modules team.

I'm not yet sure what to do about the patch to the python interpreter,
PySizer is very useful even without it, though.

PySizer has an advantage over Heapy (cp. ITP #409740) in that the pure
python parts are useful by themselves. (Heapy presently segfaults on
amd64 and I have not found a fix yet).

Kind regards

T.

Bug#444221: ITP: python-pysizer -- memory profiiler for Python

2007-09-26 Thread Cameron Dale
Hi Thomas,

Thanks for packaging this. I have installed it recently and found it
to be useful.

On 9/26/07, Thomas Viehmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
> I'm not yet sure what to do about the patch to the python interpreter,

I managed to download the latest python and patch it, though I did
have to update the patch as it was for an older version of python. I
then installed the patched python into /usr/local/, but I renamed the
binary to python-patched so that the debian-distributed python will
still be used by default. Then I just change the python header line in
the files I want to test with pysizer to point to the patched version
of python.

Since this is fairly simple once you figure it out the first time, and
it's not really feasible to distribute a patched python, I recommend
supplying a script that downloads/patches/compiles/installs a new
python similar to how I described above. If you want some help, my
updated patch, or any further details, let me know.

Thanks,
Cameron
