Bug#434465: marked as done (ITP: vbrfix -- tool to correct MP3 files with incorrect Variable BitRate information)
Your message dated Tue, 11 Dec 2007 22:54:23 + with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#434465: fixed in vbrfix 0.24-1 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: "Rogério Brito" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * Package name: vbrfix Version : 0.24 Upstream Author : William Pye <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://www.willwap.co.uk/Programs/vbrfix.php * License : GPL Programming Lang: C++ Description : tool to correct MP3 files that have broken Variable BitRate information In an average song there are points that require high quality and points that require low quality (i.e. silence). Instead of having the whole file at 160kbps CBR (Constant Bit Rate), we can use VBR (Variable Bit Rate). This allows us to have say 96kbps at points not requiring high quality and 192kbps when we need it: resulting in an overall smaller but higher quality MP3. Unfortunately, the problem is that many MP3 MP3 decoders estimate the time of a MP3 file based on the first bitrate they find and the filesize. This means that the "prediction" used by such decoders is wildly wrong with VBR encoded files and, as a result, you can get fairly random times. As most songs start with silence you usually get the song length being shown as much longer than it should be. Also when you jump through a file encoded in VBR, 50% through the file is not 50% through the song. A VBR null frame is placed at the beginning of the file to tell the MP3 player information about the song length and indexing through the song. The problem arises because some poor encoders don't produce this null frame or do so incorrectly and this is what Vbrfix attempts to fix. Vbrfix can also fix other problems with MP3s as it deletes all non-MP3 content (other than tags you state you want to keep). It can also help when merging two VBR MP3s together with a merging tool and then needing a newly calculated VBR null frame. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22.1-1 (SMP w/1 CPU core; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=pt_BR (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- Rogério Brito : [EMAIL PROTECTED],ime.usp}.br : GPG key 1024D/7C2CAEB8 http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito : http://meusite.mackenzie.com.br/rbrito Projects: algorithms.berlios.de : lame.sf.net : vrms.alioth.debian.org --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: vbrfix Source-Version: 0.24-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of vbrfix, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: vbrfix_0.24-1.diff.gz to pool/main/v/vbrfix/vbrfix_0.24-1.diff.gz vbrfix_0.24-1.dsc to pool/main/v/vbrfix/vbrfix_0.24-1.dsc vbrfix_0.24-1_powerpc.deb to pool/main/v/vbrfix/vbrfix_0.24-1_powerpc.deb vbrfix_0.24.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/v/vbrfix/vbrfix_0.24.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Bug#158476: O: type1inst -- Install Adobe Type 1 fonts into X11 and Ghostscript
Hi, The 'type1inst' package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in fact, it's one of the oldest orphaned packages in Debian). I'm going through such packages, to see if they can be safely removed from Debian, since noone seems to care about them. Does someone know if this package is still useful? It has been orphaned for a very long time... With no action from anyone, I'll request the removal of this package from Debian after a month. Found this bug which is a bit old but, if you still need more developers, please let me know. My day job is programming, but I've never contributed to Debian. Bug#455730: ITP: lua-peg -- Parsing Expression Grammars For Lua
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Please fill out the fields below. --- Package name: lua-peg Version: 0.7 Upstream Author: Roberto Ierusalimschy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> URL: http://www.inf.puc-rio.br/~roberto/lpeg.html License: MIT/X Description: LPeg is a new pattern-matching library for Lua, based on Parsing Expression Grammars (PEGs). Parsing expression grammars look similar to regular expressions or context-free grammars in Backus-Naur form (BNF) notation. PEGs make a good replacement for regular expressions, because they are strictly more powerful. For example, a regular expression inherently cannot find matched pairs of parentheses, because it is not recursive, but a PEG can. -- Enrico Tassi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I could live with telegnome being removed. Unfortunately there's no replacement as far as I know (there are several tools in Debian that can display Teletext given a TV card, but none that claim to download it from the Internet), but, well, we might just have to cope with that. You are using it? Bug#300096: O: electric -- electrical CAD system
Hi, The 'electric' package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in fact, it's one of the oldest orphaned packages in Debian). I'm going through such packages, to see if they can be safely removed from Debian, since noone seems to care about them. You are receiving this mail because your name showed up somewhere in the history of the package, or because I think that you might be interested for some reason, or because you maintain a related/similar package. Are you interested in adopting this package? Do you know potential adopters? If so, could you forward them this mail, Ccing the BTS and me? With no action from anyone, I'll request the removal of this package from Debian after a month.
