Bug#458055: O: pouetchess -- beautiful chess program with buggy checkmate

I'm orphaning this package. I lack the time and interest to work on bug
423274. I would not mind that this package would be removed from Debian
but maybe someone might be interested in adopting this package.

Bug#458047: RFP: ttf-asanamath -- Palatino like font with good math coverage

2007-12-28 Thread Juhapekka Tolvanen

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ttf-asanamath
  Upstream Author : Apostolos Syropoulos
* URL : ftp://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/Asana-Math
* License : GNU General Public License (GPL) with a special exception.
Description : Palatino-like font with good math coverage

Its README says:

 Clip here
The Asana-Math OpenType font includes almost all mathematical symbols
included in the latest version of Unicode. In addition, it includes
a MATH OpenType table so as to be useful for the typesetting of
mathematical text. It has beeb tested with XeTeX 0.997 and the
output is comparable to the output produced with Cambria-Math.
The font is not finished yet, but it is released as beta software
in the hope that people will use it, diccover bugs and report
them back to me. Last but certainly least, I used the pxfonts as
a basis for the design of most glyphs.
 Clip here

That font software itself has no license information, but it must be the
GNU GPL, because pxfonts uses that copyleft-type license.

Bug#458061: RFH: cfs -- Cryptographic Filesystem

2007-12-28 Thread Gerrit Pape
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Hi, I'm seeking help with the cfs Debian package, if you're interested,
please see
 http://bugs.debian.org/src:cfs

cfs is a nice package, written in 1992, updated 1997, and since without
upstream. Chris Leishman maintained the package until I took it over in
2002, it's worth reading through the source in any case. I'm willing to
share maintainership, and possibly hand over the package to another
DD/DM after some time.

Thanks, Gerrit.

Description : extracts information from Java class files

jclassinfo reads Java class files and extracts useful information
  from them, such as:
  * the classes/methods/constants/fields provided
  * their dependencies
  * the version of the virtual machine necessary to run them
  * a full disassembly of the bytecode
  * other attributes

This package could come in really useful for the building of a java
dependencies checker.

Preliminary packaging is essentially finished. I just need to polish it up
and make sure the manual page is up-to-date.

Bug#363498: O: 3dchess -- 3D chess for X11

You can do this yourself, see http://wiki.debian.org/Alioth/CollabMaintImport
for guidelines how to move stuff between two Subversion repositories. You can
notify me when you've imported 3dchess into the Games Team's repository, I'll
then take care of removing 3dchess from collab-maint's repository.

Description : nonclassical randomness test using data compressors

israndom tests a sequence of symbols for randomness. israndom tries to
determine if a given sequence of trials could reasonably be assumed to
come from a random uniform distribution over a fixed-size alphabet of
2-256 symbols. It uses mathematical results from Kolmogorov Complexity
theory and Shannon entropy (in classical information theory) in order to
determine if a given sequence is effectively random or not. It does this
by bounding the Kolmogorov complexity function from above using
 compressors.

Description : prediction by partial matching complearn compression module
(ppmd)

PPMD stands for Prediction by Partial Matching. It is a sophisticated
data compression technique developed after the block sorting craze.
The PPMD compression module for complearn offers the best compression
for most situations. The resulting statistical models based on ppmd are
often the most high quality in many applications. For randomness
testing, bioinformatics, fuzzy matching, and many other types of machine
learning, the complearn PPMD compression module is one of the best choices.

Bug#458087: RFA: phpgedview -- Web-based genealogy viewer and editor

2007-12-28 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi all,

I request an adopter for the phpgedview package. It is in reasonable
(but not exceptional) state but I don't use it anymore so I'm not quite
interested in keeping it up to date.

Upstream releases are infrequent.

The package description is:
PhpGedView is a web-based genealogy program which allows you to view and edit
your genealogy on your website. PhpGedView has full editing capabilities, full
privacy functions, can import from GEDCOM files, and supports multimedia like
photos and document images. PhpGedView also simplifies the process of
collaborating with others working on your family tree. Its use of the
de facto GEDCOM standard allows for importing data from almost any current
 genealogy program.

NM's are welcome, sponsoring is very well possible.

I will. I'm also at the bughunting party at Zurich so I can see there if
I will fix some bugs there.

I am not a Debian maintainer but have several experiences with packaging
and programming (C and perl).

The days I am not at home. So I will make contact in new year.

libopenraw is an ongoing project to provide a free software implementation for
camera RAW files decoding. One of the main reason is that dcraw is not suited
for easy integration into applications, and there is a need for an easy to use
API to build free software digital image processing application.
.
It also has the goal to address missing feature from dcraw like meta-data
decoding and easy thumbnail extraction.

retitle 422297 RFP: g95 -- the g95 fortran compiler
thanks

I've lost interest in g95, as it is difficult to package (depends
heavily on the code of gcc, and that is a real pain to package).
Moreover, the Fortran libraries that I needed and that could not compile
with gfortran now do.

I therefore leave it to someone else.

Bug#458137: O: gtkfontsel -- gtk+ font selection utility

2007-12-28 Thread Vincent Fourmond
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the gtkfontsel package. I thought I could tackle the
bugs, but I'm completely unable to reproduce them, and in fact I don't use
gtkfontsel much...

The package description is:

This is a nice utility for browsing, previewing and selecting an X11 font
to insert its correct name via the X clipboard into a configuration file.
A great help for manually editing FVWM configuration's files, to
 name only this WM.

  Cheers,

Vincent

wanted to try the AES2501 fingerprint reader in your new Fujitsu LOOX

This mail is to inform you that an ITP [3] already opened for it, owned

co-maintain fprint within the team?

Thx, bye,

Bug#458146: ITP: tilecache -- A web map tile caching system

2007-12-28 Thread Christopher Schmidt

* Package name: tilecache
  Version : 2.01

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : A web map tile caching system

TileCache is an implementation of a WMS-C compliant server made
available by MetaCarta. TileCache provides a Python-based WMS/TMS
server, with pluggable caching mechanisms and rendering backends. In the
simplest use case, TileCache requires only write access to a disk, the
ability to run Python CGI scripts, and a WMS you want to be cached. With
these resources, you can create your own local disk-based cache of any
WMS server, and use the result in any WMS-C supporting client, like
OpenLayers, or any TMS supporting client, like OpenLayers and worldKit.
