Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

xspect3D is an openGL X11 graphical spectral analyzer for the ALSA sound
system under Linux and is copyleft GPL2.

The project was called xspect, but this conflicts with another package
"spectemu" that contains an "xspect" executable, so I've changed the
name to "xspect3D".

The source code is available at sourceforge :

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xspect/xspect3D-1.01.tgz

Thank you

Hi

Please could you close/invalidate/delete RFP #468055, which has a bogus
download link. I sent in a second RFP (#469518) thinking it would
replace the first.

I know this is a nuisance, but sourceforge changed the project name, due
to a naming conflict, after I sent the original RFP in. This made the
download URL invalid, and it would prolly help if people could actually
download the project.

Thanks
Gordon Miller

Extended Object Tcl (for short: XOTcl, pronounced exotickle) is an
object-oriented scripting language based on Tcl. It was originally
designed for providing language support for design patterns and
provides novel constructs such as filters or transitive mixin
classes. The language is designed for empowering rather than
constraining system developers. The basic object model is highly
influenced by CLOS. Learn more at http://www.xotcl.org.

Description : Assemble multiple Regular Expressions into a single regular
expression

(Include the long description here.)

Regexp::Assemble takes an arbitrary number of regular expressions
and assembles them into a single regular expression (or RE) that
matches all that the individual REs match.
As a result, instead of having a large list of expressions to loop
over, a target string only needs to be tested against one expression.
This is interesting when you have several thousand patterns to deal
with. Serious effort is made to produce the smallest pattern possible.

Description : TeX fonts to display jsMath pages

jsMath uses some TeX fonts to render mathematical contents in web pages
so jsMath pages should be displayed much better with this package.

jsMath is very useful to display mathematical contents on the Web
but to view such pages one need to install some TeX fonts and
ttf-jsmath provides the fonts. The fonts are modifications of TeX
fonts (known as BaKoMa fonts) but a name is changed, for example,
as jsMath-cmr10 instead of cmr10 and encodings are also changed from
the original so ttf-jsmath is not a duplication of existing TeX fonts.

I'm afraid a version number is not available so I took 0.01 temporary.
I've sent an email to the upstream author about the license because
I couldn't find any statement in the home page so I filled the above
"License" with that of the original BaKoMa fonts at present.

>From the above URL:

Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) is a framework and services to support
system-level performance monitoring and performance management.

The services offered by PCP are especially attractive for those
tackling harder system-level performance problems. For example this
may involve a transient performance degradation, or correlating
end-user quality of service with platform activity, or diagnosing
some complex interaction between resource demands on a single system,
or management of performance on large systems with lots of "moving
 parts".

The news page mentioned that someone had made Debian packages, but the
URL to them was broken. It might be worth looking into trying to find
the packager and/or his/her packages.

I haven't actually tried this software, but it looks cool, and the
stuff from SGI is generally high-quality.

There is also a neato looking GTK+ frontend at

http://k332.feld.cvut.cz/~lemming/projects/pcpmon.html>

that looks like it would also be worth packaging.

StatSVN is a program that gather statistics from a SVN repository, and
displays them in the form of a series of web pages. It gathersa rich set
of information, and the output is nice-looking, with graphs made by
 JFreeChart.

It is a successor of statcvs, but for subversion repositories.

Description: A configuration daemon for ethernet devices
ifplugd is a daemon which will automatically configure your
ethernet device when a cable is plugged in and automatically
unconfigure it if the cable is pulled. This is useful on laptops with
onboard network adapters, since it will only configure the interface
when a cable is really connected.
 .
 Some features:
  * May beep when the cable is unplugged, plugged, the interface
configuration succeeded or failed.
  * Syslog support
  * small
  * Multiple ethernet interface support
  * Support for wireless networking. Whenever an association to an AP
is detected the network is configured. Have a look on waproamd
if you need a facility to configure WEP keys before AP
associations succeed.
  * Compatibility mode for network devices which do not support cable
detection

I've been waiting to upload this until I can get a new upstream release
versioned; there aren't really any other pressing reasons for an upload,
but I am definitely still intending to maintain this package.

Bug#461348: OgreAL needs OpenAL 1.1

http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2addons/viewtopic.php?t=5932&sid=e8138203786c13719048b52d09d180d3
OgreAL will need to use at least OpenAL 1.1. Packaging of OgreAL will have to
wait until packages for OpenAL 1.1 appear in the Debian archive.

Yay! Upgrading mesa-common-dev and rebooting fixed both issues :-)

Bug#469696: RFP: jscoverage -- JSCoverage is a tool that measures code coverage for JavaScript programs.

2008-03-06 Thread OuoU
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: jscoverage
  Version : 0.3.1
  Upstream Author : Copyright © 2007 siliconforks.com
* URL or Web page : http://siliconforks.com/jscoverage/download.html
* License : GPLv2+
Description : JSCoverage is a tool that measures code coverage for
JavaScript programs.

Writing tests to check that JavaScript code actually works instead of waiting
for
the code to be run in exceptional conditions is instrumental to write quality
software.

JSCoverage is a tool used to measure code coverage in JavaScript programs.

JSCoverage has two components:

   1. An executable program which is used to add instrumentation to JavaScript
code.
   2. A web application which is used to execute instrumented code and generate
a code coverage report.

Exactly.

You're right. xlibmesa-gl depends on libgl1-mesa-glx and xlibmesa-dri on
libgl1-mesa-dri, that depends on libgl1-mesa-glx. My suposition is that
updating libgl1-mesa-glx. My guess, overall, is that what I should have done
to avoid all issues was upgrading mesa-common-dev (thus forcing upgrades on
libgl1-mesa-dev, libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1-mesa-glx). My guess is also that
xlibmesa-gl 1:7.2-5 (in testing), should depend on libgl1-mesa-glx 7*
(testing), but isn't specifying any version. If you think this is the case,
then we should open a bug against xlibmesa-gl, and depend on mesa-common-dev
>=7. Anyway, I already upgraded the whole bunch to testing, and I'm going to
test it: I suspect that I'll get a working slviewer again, even if not with
the names on the avatars (which might be an unrelated issue).

> If its not mesa the other options are GTK and SDL possibly the fonts

We'll see that as soon as I test it. I *hope* it is a mesa issue, but if it
isn't, I'll try the rest.

Updated libglu1-mesa and libglu1-mesa-dev to testing, and the result is
terrible: running slviewer makes X reboot :-( Next step: trying to update
these to testing:

mesa-common-dev/stable uptodate 6.5.1-0.6
libgl1-mesa-dev/stable uptodate 6.5.1-0.6
libgl1-mesa-dri/stable uptodate 6.5.1-0.6
libgl1-mesa-glx/stable uptodate 6.5.1-0.6

Since it will never enter in etch anyway, I don't see anything wrong in trying
to make it work in lenny only. Yet, you should add the xlibmesa-gl >= 7.2
dependency (at least).

I was trying to keep the build available for maximum number of users at

xmlrpc-epi and the dreaded llmozlib its blocked from a lot of sides from
even attempting to enter Debian, i don't think changing the build to

Its more complex that just xlibmesa-gl >=7.2, i *don't* have it
installed at all on my laptop, i presume i am using xlibmesa-dri so need
to be a little careful about the dependencies here. Not sure what other
valid combinations you could have for mesa but don't want to depend on
packages that are not required.

May be could specify it conflicts with xlibmesa-gl<7.2, just at the
moment. Clearly if we try to enter unstable such things would not apply.

I'll upgrade the mesa related packages one by one to the ones on testing, and
see if any fixes the issue (and if so, which one). If any of them solves...
Do you think it is because a version bump to unstable is needed? Or do you
think it might be a dependency to something else besides mesa?

If its not mesa the other options are GTK and SDL possibly the fonts
ttf-dejavu. Would be cool to get to the bottom of this :-)

Just be careful of mixing and matching mesa and associated libs
versions, could get into a right mess!

Thanks for your help

Well, it _is_ broken in etch, so I was trying to check which package was

Looking at your version numbers it seems you are running etch and have
upgraded (at least some packages) to testing? I would guess there is
another minimum dependency somewhere and its hard to guess where as
there are too many layers of SDL,GTK and GL all together. I'm going to
have to ask people to report back what they are installing on.

Any other system information? is this i386 or AMD64. What locale are you
running? could be an interesting locale side effect.

I'll try running in a etch chroot and see if i can trigger the issues myself

No. I just looked it up, and it looks interesting. Unfortunately, it
seems to tend on the console-rpg style play, which I have grown to

about 10 minutes of playtime before I threw it out in disgust. I

i've created a debian package (also suitable for ubuntu) of it at

Excellent, thank you.

the license of the software doesn't allow putting it into debian and ubuntu
officially (at least not main, nor contrib. non-free might work but has several
drawbacks). do you think you might change the license to something like
gnu gpl, artistic license, bsd license or make it public domain sometimes?

That is a problem with debian. I will *not* change my license.
Artistic/BSD/PD are out as I do not want a third party putting POWDER
on a ROM and selling it. GPL is out because it effectively prohibits
even myself from putting it on a ROM. (Not to mention the GBA version
becomes illegal)

POWDER is, in the Debian sense, not free and will remain that way for
the foreseeable future. I see this as a problem with Debian, not with
POWDER :>

GstOpenMAX is a GStreamer plug-in that allows communication with
 OpenMAX IL components.

OpenMAX IL is an industry standard that provides an abstraction
layer for computer graphics, video, and sound routines.

As of today, it can be used on Debian with Bellagio
