Description: Mail to News and News to Mail Gateway
This is a hodge-podge of tools to gate news. Nothing for beginners.
Assembly required. Among others things this contains:
 .
This kit provides two programs for linking RFC822 Mail messages and
RFC1036 Usenet News articles. Each half of the conversion is handled by a
different program, mail2news or news2mail. A few utility programs are
 also included.
 .
With these programs and the right set of mail aliases and news sys and
active file entries, it is possible to build any set of moderated,
unmoderated, one-way, or bi-directional gateways between any set of news
and mail groups and lists that your little heart desires.

Bug#470075: RFP: libnet-dns-async-perl -- Asynchronous DNS helper for high volume perl applications

2008-03-09 Thread Jan Wagner
Hi Damyan,

On Sunday 09 March 2008 08:30, Damyan Ivanov wrote:
Are you willing to maintain the package? Under the pkg-perl umbrella?

I can do so, even if not really experienced with perl. :)

 1) join the group :)

Okay ... feel free to add me[1]

 2) read the docs http://pkg-perl.alioth.debian.org/ -- policy.html and
subversion.html
3~) review debian/copyright and remove the dh-make-perl stanza 'the
copyright statement was extracted by dh-make-perl...'
 3) assign the copyright of the packaging to the group (not mandatory,
but nice)

I've done that. :)

 4) svn-inject the package in the group's SVN repository

Waiting for permissions here.

The package will then be reviewed and uploaded.

I'm looking forward.

Considering that we're quite busy with the perl5.10 transition, taking
the first route is better if you look for a quicker inclusion of the
package in Debian. Hanging on #debian-perl/irc.debian.org is a further
 boost :)

I'm there. :)

With kind regards, Jan.

2008-03-09 Thread Cord Beermann
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the synergy package.

The package description is:
Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between
multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its
own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users
with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its
 own display.
 .
Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse
off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of
all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems.
Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop
together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires
a password to unlock them all.

Bug#470187: RFH: nn -- Heavy-duty USENET news reader (curses-based client)

2008-03-09 Thread Cord Beermann
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the nn package.

The package description is:
The motto of nn is its expanded name, which is No News is good
news, but nn is better, and the nn newsreader is designed to let you
minimize the amount of time you spend reading news (or, more
realistically, to allow you to follow even more newsgroups :-).
 .
Nn allows you to quickly select articles of interest and skip the
rest. It also supports efficient article killing and selection of
 articles by author and subject.
 .
This version of nn reads news from a news server via NNTP (the
Network News Transfer Protocol), and can make use of your NNTP
server's NOV database, if configured. You must have a news server
available - large sites usually provide a site-wide server. (For
those familiar with 'nn', this is a client-only version.)

Bug#470188: RFH: milter-greylist -- GreyList milter for sendmail

2008-03-09 Thread Cord Beermann
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the milter-greylist package.

The package description is:
milter-greylist is a stand-alone milter written in C that implements the
greylist filtering method, as proposed by Evan Harris.
 .
Grey listing works by assuming that unlike legitimate MTA, spam engines will
not retry sending their junk mail on a temporary error. The filter will
always temporarily reject mail on a first attempt, and to accept it after
 some time has elapsed.
 .
If spammers ever try to resend rejected messages, we can assume they will not
stay idle between the two sends (if they do, the spam problem would just be
solved). Odds are good that the spammer will send a mail to an honey pot
address and get blacklisted in several real-time distributed black list
 before the second attempt.

This package contains colormake.pl which parses the output of make to
colorize it to make it easier read. In addition, there are two wrapper
scripts included, colormake and clmake, which can be invoked instead of make
 with colorized output on-the-fly.

I'm interested in adopting this package.

Please consider taking wmmoonclock, too. Both packages are very similar
 and belong together.

I would like to maintain only packages I use quite actively, but since
wmsun and wmmoonclock are from the same author and of quite similar
functionality (and pretty small anyway), I will take both.

I'll prepare uploads as soon as there is a need for it and am subscribed
until then to the BTS for both packages.

Best regards,

Bug#470206: RFP: giback -- git based home directory backup

2008-03-09 Thread David Bremner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: giback
  Version : to be determined
Upstream Author : Mauricio Fernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://eigenclass.org/hiki/gibak-backup-system-introduction
* License : LGPL
  Programming Lang: OCaml, shell
Description : git based home directory backup

The gibak package provides a comfortable interface for backing up your
home directory using git. Since core git does not store much metadata
about files, giback ometastore, which saves and restores metadata
information, optionally following git semantics with respect to
.gitignore and submodules.

Comments:

- This fills a niche for me because ometastore works on my reiserfs based
server, while currently metastore does not (#470184)

- There seems not yet to be a release tarball.

- The main part of the package is ometastore, which is written in OCaml.

Upstream Author : Julian Andres Klode [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  URL : https://launchpad.net/dcdmake
  License : GPL
  Programming Language: Bash
Description : Tool to create (unofficial) debian cds

dcdmake is a new tool to easily create Debian CD Images. Although
not as feature-rich as debian-cd, it can build a installable Debian CD.
It is written in bash and uses apt-get to build package lists.
It is almost fully configurable via one file (it needs some data from
debian-cd at the moment)

I am the developer of this program and use it to build the CD images for
the upcoming JAK LINUX Distribution (A Debian based Distribution on one
CD with a few non-free things).

In the current tree, I switched to CDBS and made the package
arch-independent (There will be more changes soon)

This project is located at launchpad.net: https://launchpad.net/dcdmake

Bzr tree is available at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~juliank/dcdmake/main

I would like to maintain this package for Debian, although I am not a DD.

Bug#470236: RFP: flam3 -- Programs to generate and render cosmic recursive fractal flames (fwd)

2008-03-09 Thread Ian Weller

Package: wnpp

X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package name: flam3
Version: 2.7.9
Upstream author: Scott Draves spot draves org
URL: http://www.flam3.com/
License: GPLv2+
Description: Flam3, or Fractal Flames, are algorithmically generated images and
animations. This is free software to render fractal flames as described on
http://flam3.com. Flam3-animate makes animations, and flam3-render makes still
images. Flam3-genome creates and manipulates genomes (parameter sets).

I've already packaged this for Fedora and Scott is asking me to look for a
maintainer for Debian. The specfile and patches used by Fedora are available
