Bug#472095: ITP: libtie-dbi-perl -- Perl module to tie hashes to relational databases

2008-03-22 Thread Jose Parrella
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jose Parrella <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: libtie-dbi-perl
  Version : 1.02
  Upstream Author : Lincoln Stein, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~lds/Tie-DBI-1.02/
* License : GPL/Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Perl module to tie hashes to relational databases

This module allows you to tie Perl associative arrays (hashes) to SQL
databases using the DBI interface. The tied hash is associated with a
table in a local or networked database. One column becomes the hash key.
Each row of the table becomes an associative array, from which
individual fields can be set or retrieved.

Thanks, wnpp people,
Jose

Bug#472099: ITP: libcoveb -- cache oblivious van Emde Boas stratified tree optimized for 32-bit integers

  Description : cache oblivious van Emde Boas stratified tree optimized for
32-bit integers

Sometimes, O(log n) performance is just not fast enough for very large
sorted queues. When dealing with millions of elements, a theoretically
ideal choice is implemented in this library and tuned for high speed
throughput of at least a millions operations per second at all queue
sizes from one up to four billion entries. Using a sophisticated
overlapping key tree representation, O(log(log n)) performance is
achieved in this priority queue implementation. In practice, this means
it uses less time and memory than typical range finding data structures
like binary trees or B-Trees.

As I'm happily using the package that would be very bad indeed. I'm thus
stepping up to help. Still, I'd like not to fully adopt the package as that
seems to be to much workload for me as well.

This I'd offer indeed. I've just read all of the conversation on debian-legal on
this matter. I've pretty much no idea about the legal business, but pursuing
people should be doable.

What I'd probably need is some briefing on the package, pointers to the CVS,
your previous work, etc.

Michael

Bug#472182: ITP: mother -- Mother is an Object Relational Mapper with strong introspection

Package name: mother
Version: 0.6.4-r4
Upstream Author: Federico Tomassini aka Efphe

Description:

Mother is a Python module that hides SQL syntax and gives you a set of
intelligent classes and methods.
By `intelligent` we mean that the classes are
able to understand autonomously various situations.
Think of Mother as an Object Relational Mapper with strong introspection.
When dealing with ORMs you usually need configuration files, tables, fields
and keys declarations, but not with Mother because Mother knows the database
structure herself.

Hi,
I plan to package libmpc. This contains libraries for encoding and
decoding musepack files, commandline utilities, etc.

I'm planning to upload a SVN snapshot to experimental soonish, which
will go to unstable once it's declared API/ABI stable.

As Jorge Salamero Sanz currently maintains the mppenc package, which
would be obsoleted by this I'd like to ask him if he wants to maintain
this package together with me.

PhpGroupware used to be maintained in Debian.

It has been recently removed from Unstable (and testing) :
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=453467 .

Hence this request for packaging/maintainance. Upstream seems to be looking for
a new candidate maintainer.

More details : http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/phpgroupware.html

FYI, we're particularly interested since we rely on phpgroupware packages for
PicoForge (http://www.picoforge.org/) packages.

Best regards,

  Description : JSCoverage is a tool that measures code coverage for
JavaScript programs.

Writing tests to check that JavaScript code actually works instead of waiting
for
the code to be run in exceptional conditions is instrumental to write quality
software.

JSCoverage is a tool used to measure code coverage in JavaScript programs.

JSCoverage has two components:

   1. An executable program which is used to add instrumentation to JavaScript
code.
   2. A web application which is used to execute instrumented code and generate
a code coverage report.

  Description : Simple pluggable class

 This class makes your class (sub class of Class::Pluggable) pluggable.
 In this documentation, the word "pluggable" has two meanings.
 .
 One is just simply adding new method to your pluggable classs from
 other plugin modules. So, after you plugged some modules to your class,
 you can use there method exactly same as your own object method.
 .
 You can see this kind of plugin mechanism in CGI::Application and
 CGI::Application::Plugin::Session.

  Description : support for g15 logitech keyboard (LCD display + extra keys)

G15 is a Logitech keyboard that have a nice LCD display and a lot
of extra keys. Our KDE already have support to use g15daemon,
but g15daemon is not yet in Debian.

So I intent to pack the most important packages in the
df projects: g15tools (mainly the library and tools for to format the
display) and g15daemon (the daemon, to share display with many
applications).

BTW the peojects have a lot of sub-project/sources, but
primary I intend to pack the main programs, and in a second
step I'll check if there is need for other programs
(mainly support and interface between current packages and
the extra display).

* Package name: gnumed-server
  Version : 0v8
  Upstream Author : Karsten Hilbert, Horst Herb and others
* URL : http://gnumed.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : medical practice management - server
 This is the GNUmed Electronic Medical Record. Its purpose is
 to enable doctors to keep a medically sound record on their
 patients' health. Currently it is not fully featured. The
 features provided are, however, tested, in use, and
 considered stable. This package does NOT yet provide
 functionality for billing and stock keeping.
 .
 While the GNUmed team has taken the utmost care to make sure
 the medical records are safe at all times you still need to
 make sure you are taking appropriate steps to backup the
 medical data to a safe place at appropriate intervals. Do
 test your backup and desaster recovery procedures, too !
 .
 Protect your data! GNUmed itself comes without
 any warranty whatsoever. You have been warned.
 .
 This package contains the PostgreSQL server part.
 .
 Note: The package does currently _NOT_ build the GNUmed database
 but just installs the needed SQL files. Please see README.Debian.

Remark: This package will be group maintained by the Debian-Med team.
Preliminary packaging stuff is available at

http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/debian-med/trunk/packages/gnumed-server/trunk/?rev=0&sc=0

The first upload will go to experimental because some things
regarding the creation of the PostgreSQL database have to be
sorted out first.

Kind regards

 Andreas.

Bug#471995: RFA: logwatch -- log analyser with nice output written in Perl

Good to hear.

What I've done so far is I tried to explain the issue to upstream.

http://www2.list.logwatch.org:81/pipermail/logwatch-devel/2008-February/001882.html

As far as I know, upstream hasn't done anything so far concerning this
issue. When I asked for a new release in januar(?), the basic answer
was, we'd like to but we are busy. (You'll find the message somewhere in
the archive). I also haven't done anything so far - lack of time.

> What I'd probably need is some briefing on the package, pointers to the CVS,

svn repository:

svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-logwatch/trunk

The directory copyright-status contains an empty file for each file in
the source tree. If the copyright status is OK, the suffix is .fixed.

I have added you to the project team members on alioth, so you should be
able to check it out and commit over ssh.

Quite useful is the upstream CVS repository, linked from the upstream
homepage.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Willi

This probably wants to be python-mother or python-dbmother as the
package name.

Bug#472281: ITP: libtommath -- a number theoretic multiple-precision integer library

2008-03-22 Thread Joe Nahmias
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Joseph Nahmias <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: libtommath
  Version : 0.39
  Upstream Author : Tom St Denis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://math.libtomcrypt.com/
* License : Public Domain
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : a number theoretic multiple-precision integer library

The library provides a vast array of highly optimized routines from
various branches of number theory:
.
* Simple Algebra
  o Addition
  o Subtraction
  o Multiplication
  o Squaring
  o Division
* Digit Manipulation
  o Shift left/right whole digits (mult by 2b by moving digits)
  o Fast multiplication/division by 2 and 2k for k>1
  o Binary AND, OR and XOR gates
* Modular Reductions
  o Barrett Reduction
  o Montgomery Reduction
  o DR Reduction
  o 2k Reduction
* Number Theoretic
  o Greatest Common Divisor
  o Least Common Multiple
  o Jacobi Symbol Computation
  o Multiplicative Inverse
  o Extended Euclidean Algorithm
  o Modular Exponentiation
  o Fermat and Miller-Rabin Primality Tests
* Miscellaneous
  o Root finding over Z
  o Pseudo-random integers
  o Signed and Unsigned comparisons
* Optimizations
  o Fast Comba based Multiplier, Squaring and Montgomery routines
  o Montgomery, Diminished Radix and Barrett based modular
exponentiation
  o Karatsuba and Toom-Cook multiplication algorithms
.
The code is littered with comments that help explain the algorithms and
their implementations. Ideally the code will serve as an educational
tool in the future for CS students studying number theory.

Bug#453462: Please adopt the package

2008-03-22 Thread Varun Hiremath
Hi,
  I have prepared a QA upload for pyflakes which fixes 2 bugs
  including the ftbfs with python-central RC bug.

  If you want to adopt the package and move the package to PAPT,
  please do so quickly. I can sponsor upload for you.

  Please find attached the debdiff of my changes.

Regards
Varun
