Bug#473354: ITP: winhardware -- hardware summary report from a Win32 host

2008-03-30 Thread Franklin PIAT
Hello,

Regarding the package description, since it's a shell script, I guess
it's working on Windows 64bits too.
You could replace the term Win32 with Windows in that case.

Description : extract delimited text sequences from strings

Text::Balanced extracts a delimited substring, possibly
after skipping a specified prefix string. By default, that
prefix is optional whitespace (/\s*/), but you can change it
 to whatever you wish.
 .
The modules does not extract the first occurrence of a substring
anywhere in a string (like an unanchored regex would), instead it
extracts an occurrence of the substring appearing immediately at
the current matching position in the string (like a G-anchored
 regex would).

This perl module is needed by a new extension to emdebian-tools to make
it easier to deal with uClibc in Emdebian.

Description:

This program designed to repair broken AVI file streams by rebuilding
index part of file. This is very useful when trying to preview movies
which has no index part, like some files are currently downloading from
ed2k or bittorent networks.

In your description, I see nothing no prefer this program to mencoder
yet, see http://www.google.com/search?q=mencoder+fix+index .

DivFix++ has supports CLI tools, this means you can fix a file to
temporary location, preview with a player, than delete temporary movie
file after preview automatically via script by using argument parameters...

Still don't.

DivFix++ is complete rewrite of "DivFix" program due it's bugs and low
performance. It has been written using C++/wxWidgets and thus, ported on
various Operating Systems.

So what's the point, why should we put this package into Debian? A GUI?
But there is no word like "GUI", only something called wxWidgets? Users
might think... wx, what is this wx good for?

Regards,
Eduard.

I (and probably many other people) don't want to spend one hour reading
mencoder manpage to fix their videos ;-)

I'll update the description to mention "Gui" or "Graphical" somewhere.

Hi,

do you really need to package this separately? It's already in
perl-modules. 5.8.8 has 1.95 and 5.10.0 (which will hopefully be in Lenny)
has 2.0.0.

Maybe, but I don't like mplayer!
If someone doesn't want divfix++ in debian just tell me (maybe I'm just
paranoid, but I feel you don't want me to upload this software).

If someone is interrested in, it's already available @ debian-mentors:

Bug#473396: ITP: php5-gtk2 -- GTK2 bindings for PHP

  Version : 2.0

* URL : http://gtk.php.net/
* License : LGPL 2.1 or later
  Programming Lang: C, PHP (Examples)
Description : GTK2 bindings for PHP

php5-gtk2 allows a PHP developer to use the Gtk+ graphical user
interface library.

The Gtk+ is a multi-platform toolkit for creating graphical user
interfaces. Offering a complete set of widgets, the Gtk+ is suitable
for projects ranging from small one-off tools to complete
application suites.

Find out more about Gtk+ at http://www.gtk.org.

These php bindings follow the C API very closely, and the C reference
documentation should be considered the canonical source:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/index.html

Description mostly taken from libgtk2-perl. I'm not a DD and would be
seeking a sponsor (I know several local DD's so shouldn't be a problem).

Well first of all I'm *extremely* sorry that I failed to spot that
you'd already filed an ITP bug against jquery. I've created a package
and uploaded it already - so it is in the NEW queue.

What I'll do is wait until it is accepted, and then update it to
follow your policy, which seems very good. (But I'm not sure
about how to handle the naming change. Right now I see:

prototypejs - JavaScript Framework for dynamic web applications
scriptaculous - JavaScript library for dynamic web applications

So on that basis, I'll leave it alone for now.)

I'll also set it up such that we're both listed as the maintainer
and both of us can upload.

After that, if anything needs to be done, we can look at hosting
 via GIT/Mercurial.

Does that sound like a good start at least?

are you going to use wmic and/or winexe for that? Then I'd suggest to
add teh script to the wmi-client package instead of wasting a full
package for a single shellscript.

Thank you for your interest! Of course I would be happy to see jockey
in Debian as well. The Debian and Ubuntu branches shouldn't be
significantly different. Ideally we could add a few runtime checks (e.
g. which package management GUI is available) and use a shared branch
for both? This should minimize maintenance overhead.

How would you feel about co-maintaining the package with me? Feel free
to ping me on IRC ("pitti" on Freenode).

Thanks,

Hi Franklin,

I agree with you, but "Windows" could refer to Win9X series that is not
supported.

There exist some better word to refer just to Windows 2k and above
(Windows NT 4 is not supported)?

Thank you.

ttfm (Time Travelling File Manager) is a graphical file manager that
allows a user to navigate the filesystem namespace and previous
snapshots for an ext3cow filesystem.

It provides a time shifting interface allowing you to quickly see the
snapshot of the filesystem in a previous moment, provided you took a
snapshot in that moment.

I wrote the author regarding versioning, and I've succesfully compiled
this on Sid, so I'll provide a package soon.

Thanks, WNPP people,
Jose

Hi Bernd,

I have no relationship with the wmi-client package nor knows the
mainteiner. To agree with your opinion, i should work close to that
mantainer and this could make the work a lot harder in the mean that i
have to commnuicate with him.

My work is in get just the selected hardware data from the Windows host
and whis is another "layer" of the "how" the communication runs.

Ok, the shell script is small and simple, but this is a simple task :)

I would to hear others opinions about your opinion.

Thank You.

Sometimes, O(log n) performance is just not fast enough for very large
sorted queues. When dealing with millions of elements, a theoretically
ideal choice is implemented in this library and tuned for high speed
throughput of at least a millions operations per second at all queue
sizes from one up to four billion entries. Using a sophisticated
overlapping key tree representation, O(log(log n)) performance is
achieved in this priority queue implementation. In practice, this means
it uses less time and memory than typical range finding data structures
like binary trees or B-Trees.

Bug#473451: RFA: wordpress -- weblog manager

2008-03-30 Thread Kai Hendry
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the wordpress package.

The package description is:
WordPress is a full featured web blogging tool:
* Instant publishing (no rebuilding)
* Comment pingback support with spam protection
* Non-crufty URLs
* Themable
* Plugin support
 .
This package includes French language support.

Tbh I don't have much enthusiasm for Debian packaging work after:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-newmaint/2008/01/

Not to mention my long running issues getting uploads done with stable
security e.g. #437840. These things do wear you down...

I've already asked Lionel Elie Mamane if he's interested, but he didn't
seem keen. I'll probably advertise the package on Debian Planet sometime
soon.

Best wishes,

uh, ntot really. You've just sent him an email ;)
The package is maintained by me in the Zenoss team... If you want to
provide such a script, as examples or for /usr/bin (with manpage then
please), I could give you access to the svn, so you can maintain it in
the debian directory of the package, not a big problem.

Cheers,

Bernd

Bug#454810: orphan trang

The fact that it doesn't work is a Debian-only problem. When building
trang under Mac OS X, I just get a shell script

  java -jar .../java/trang.jar "$@"

and it works well. It seems that under Debian, the choice to build a
native executable has been done (but with a linkage error). So, I'd
say that the problem is related to Debian's build tools only, not to
a fault from upstream.

Bug#444708: ITA: parrot -- virtual machine for dynamic languages

2008-03-30 Thread Allison Randal

John Lightsey wrote:

Hi there,

Do you still intend to adopt the Debian Parrot packages? From what I
can see, there was some talk in December about setting up group
maintenance of Parrot, but it doesn't look like that ever took off.

The group is in place, and we have 3 Debian Developers as sponsors.
We've also updated the packages, and have them ready to upload. What
we're waiting for now is confirmation that one final Debian bug report
has been resolved (#382147). For that we need a working ia64 box.

All other reported bugs have been resolved and are noted as such in the
updated changelog file. Once we have this final bug confirmed, we'll
start submitting monthly Debian packages along with our monthly releases.
