Bug#448532: QuickForm PHP Licence makes it undistributable
Hi, I am currently working on packaging phpMyVisites for Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/448532). It has a dependency on QuickForm and, hence, possibly a dependency on your future package. Unfortunately, it seems QuickForm has legal problems with its licence for being included in the archive. See this thread: http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2006/12/msg00125.html and particularly: http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2006/12/msg00144.html I have noticed upstream is working on a rewriting under BSD Licence http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_QuickForm to http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_QuickForm2 but I do not if it is an exact replacement. Bug#448532: Bug#442361: QuickForm PHP Licence makes it undistributable
Hi Frederic, Honestly I was a bit discouraged by this licence problem, I only wanted to package Quickform as it was a dependancy of centreon [1]. But lots of pear packages that centreon used suffer from the same licence problem, and convince all these developpers to change licence to be able to distribute their package in debian, it seems to me, is a long and tedious task ! I didn't have time recently to rework on this and talk with developpers, if you're motivated, you can do it and takeover this ITP. Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Package Name: djbfft Version:0.76 Upstream Author:D. J. Bernstein URL:http://cr.yp.to/djbfft.html License:Public Domain Programming Language: C djbfft is an extremely fast library for floating-point convolution. Bug#477813: RFP: libpnet6 -- a powerful library for writing cross-platform network applications
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: libpnet6 Version : 0.1.5 Upstream Author : Peter Bozarov [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://pnet6.sourceforge.net/ * License : BSD Programming Lang: (C, C++, C#, Perl, Python, etc.) Description : a powerful library for writing cross-platform network applications Description from the web page: libpnet6 is a powerful library for writing cross-platform network applications. libpnet6 facilitates the writing of professional quality client/server applications in the TCP, UDP, and UNIX domain protocols, offering full support for the IPv4 and IPv6 Internet protocols. In addition, advanced networking functionality such as network inteface access and configuration, and the reading and writing of raw packets on the datalink are also supported. The following is a short overview of the most important functionality offered by libpnet6. As far as possible, this functionality is available on all operating systems which libpnet6 supports. * Protocol independent standard sockets API, with full IPv6 support; * Access to IPv4, IPv6, TCP, ICMPv6 socket options; * Broadcasting (with IPv4), and multicasting (both IPv4 and IPv6); * Access to detailed datagram information, such as actual destination address, and the interface a datagram was received on; * Raw socket access, enabling the reading and writing of for example ICMP and IGMP messages as well as direct access to IP datagrams; * IP, IPv6, TCP, ICMP, UDP header manipulation routines; * Datalink access: direct access to raw network packets. Read and write IP and non-IP packets (e.g. ARP and RevARP packets) bypassing the regular protocols stack. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nl_NL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#477925: RFA: scons -- A replacement for Make
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm looking for someone to take over the SCons package since I no longer use it at work and therefore don't need to take the detailed interest in advanced usage required for that. The package is in reasonably good shape and upstream is generally responsive and helpful, and appreciates the testing coverage which inclusion in Debian gives them. Any prospective adopter should be confident enough with Python to be willing to delve into the code which upstreams for other packages have written to wrap and extend the functionality of SCons - breakage in those is the major source of problems reported in the package (rather than issues with direct use of SCons). The package description is: SCons is a make replacement providing a range of enhanced features such as automated dependency generation and built in compilation cache support. SCons rule sets are Python scripts so as well as the features it provides itself SCons allows you to use the full power of Python to control compilation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
