Bug#487933: Intent of this package, and reason for name

2008-06-30 Thread Jack Coulter
I must clarify on the intent of this package, basically to provide a way
for users to play baseq3 quickly and easily (with the data installed via
quake3-data) and also to play mods that require baseq3 assets (mods such
as this would likely be installed per user in ~/.q3a/modname). Stand
alone/total conversion mods (I.e. they do not require any baseq3 assets
and/or may use a tweaked ioquake3) would go in their own packages (I'm
working on such packages for UrbanTerror and World of Padman, and for
such packages already exist for Tremulous, and OpenArena, and probably
others). Also this package contains baseq3 specific menu entries and
launcher scripts.

I grabbed a copy of your game-package from SVN, and to my understanding
it simply generates a locally installable deb from one's game data for a
variety of games. When it is uploaded and works with baseq3, I'll gladly
change this package's dependency from quake3-data to game-package.

Again, just to clarify, the reason this package was named quake3 rather
than ioquake3 was because it is designed to be used ONLY with baseq3 and
mods requiring baseq3 assets. Those not requiring baseq3 assets will
have their own package.

If there is anything wrong with what I've said above, please don't
hesitate to inform me.

Regards,
Jack Coulter

Bug#391887: RFS: freemat

2008-06-30 Thread Giuseppe Iuculano
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package freemat.

* Package name: freemat
  Version : 3.6~dfsg-1
  Upstream Author : Samit Basu [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://freemat.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPLv2
  Section : math

It builds these binary packages:
freemat- Mathematics Framework (mostly MATLAB compatible)
freemat-data - freemat data files
freemat-help - freemat help files

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 391887 (ITP)

FreeMat is a free environment for rapid engineering and scientific
prototyping and data processing. It is similar to commercial systems
such as MATLAB from Mathworks, and IDL from Research Systems, but is
Open Source.

Thanks to Neil Williams and Bernd Zeimetz, now freemat should be dfsg
compatible.
dpmpar.f, enorm.f, fdjac2.f, lmdif1.f, lmdif.f, lmpar.f, qrfac.f,
qrsolv.f have been removed because of licence issues and because there
is no good reason for two packages to distribute identical source code
(Rebuild against libminpack1)

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/freemat
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/freemat/freemat_3.6~dfsg-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Giuseppe Iuculano

I no longer have the hardware for this utility and so I no longer use it (or
have any way to test the package). Therefore, I am looking for someone else
who cares more about it to take it over.

It is a very low-maintenance package as there are no longer any upstream
releases.

Current state of the package:
  - no bugs
  - lintian-clean (with -I) and linda-clean
  - 291 users (according to popcon)

Here's the package description:

  This utility program may be used for executing several configuration commands
for the TV
  Out connector of ATI Rage Mobility P/M graphics boards under GNU/Linux on
i386. Primarily
  it is intended to enable TV Out support after bootup and for switching the
used TV
  standard from NTSC to PAL.

I would also be willing to sponsor your uploads if you're not a DD yet.

  Description : Integrated administrative system for decentralized public
institutions

The automation of management in government institutions is now one of
the most successful strategies, both for the modernization of public
affairs for the construction of citizenship.

The implementation of a modernizing process in public administration
requires the production, automation and dissemination of knowledge,
information and data in a timely, relevant and complete, to forecast the
institutional requirements and needs of the population.

Introducing new technologies in the process of governance has major
benefits: organize services in an efficient form, produce and
communicate messages relevant to the communities and assess the
improvement of living conditions attributable to government
intervention.

Hence the need to implement information technology (IT) and
telecommunication of proven effectiveness, with the aim of using
information and knowledge to transform the social fact.

Thus, emerges as the Digital Government Project: Integrated
administrative system for decentralized public institutions - SAID.

This software development is based on the model of free software, this
being one of the flagship products of FSL (Free Software Factory).

CENDITEL assume this project in the framework of strengthening the core
of endogenous development in information and communication technology.

This node is composed of a team of developers whose purpose is to
analyze and develop information systems under web platform for
government institutions at regional and national levels.

This initiative emerges in the second quarter of 2004 as part of several
projects that are directed towards promoting the development of quality
software in the region. SAID automates the following processes:

 * Register of recipients and providers
 * Budget formulation and budget execution
 * Purchases (Requisitions, Quotes, Minutes, Purchase/Service Orders and
Refunds)
 * Assets and materials storage
 * Banks and accounting
 * Personnel management
 * Payable accounts

Bug#488753: ITP: libapache2-mod-passenger -- Rails and Rack module for Apache2

2008-06-30 Thread Filipe Lautert

* Package name: libapache2-mod-passenger
  Version : 2.0.1
  Upstream Author : Phusion [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.modrails.com
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : Rails and Rack module for Apache2

Phusion Passenger — a.k.a. mod_rails — makes deployment of
applications built on Ruby on Rails web framework a breeze.
Passenger is an Apache2 module and it's ability to automatically
manage Rails server processes lowers system administration,
while retaining stability/robustness and performance.

There is a guy (Neil Wilson) who already started to package
passenger to Ubuntu. I'll contact him and see what we
can do to have this package in Debian/Ubuntu.

Augeas parses configuration files described in lenses (augeas-lenses
package) into a tree structure, which it exposes through its public
API. Changes made through the API are written back to the initially
read files.

The transformation works very hard to preserve comments and formatting
details. It is controlled by ``lens'' definitions that describe the
file format and the transformation into a tree.

Description: Video deinterlacer plugins from the DScaler project
 DScaler is a Win32 application that captures video, processes it, and
 scales it for presentation. It implements highly sophisticated
 algorithms that work in real-time, for high-quality video images.
 .
 The libdscaler package contains Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) from the
 DScaler application. They are able to:
  * Deinterlace video source, from both cameras and console games;
  * Detect and remove 2:2 pulldown (PAL) and 3:2 pulldown (NTSC) for
movies and filmed television programs;
  * Reduce video noise on analog sources; and
  * Reduce jitter and other video timing anomalies.
 .
 Currently, these libraries are used as plugins by the tvtime package,
 dynamically loaded using Wine.
