Bug#497701: Second the request and v8 shell

2008-12-13 Thread Nelson Elhage
I'd like to second this request.

Additionally, the v8 dist contains a sample program demonstrating the
use of the v8 library, 'samples/shell.cc' that provides a minimal
interactive shell and interpreter for .js files; This might be
appropriate to install and add as an alternative for 'js'.

Bug#508679: RFP: healpix -- set of C/Fortran/IDL routines for division of a sphere in equal-sized pixels

Package name: apt-forktracer
Upstream Author: Copyright (C) 2008 Marcin Owsiany
URL: http://marcin.owsiany.pl/apt-forktracer-page
License: GPL v2 or later
Description: a utility for managing package versions
apt-forktracer tries to alleviate the problem that APT stops tracking
official versions of a package after you pin it or install a newer
 version.
 .
It displays a list of packages which are in an inconsistent state or
have a version other than the newest official installed. You can choose
to ignore certain packages - if they match certain criteria - with a
 configuration file.

I already announced the intent to write such program in August:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2008/08/msg00248.html

I finally completed it, and it is available for download from the
homepage. The documentation is available there as well. As I said in the
original thread, it is implemented in Python, as I wanted to learn the
language better and I thought it is more appropriate for prototyping.

I am open to suggestions for a better name. "Fork" may have negative
connotation, but I could not think of anything else that would emphasize
the fact that the program is interested in two versions at the same
time, one of which is "official".

UNetbootin (Universal Netboot Installer) is a cross-platform utility that can
create Live USB systems and can load a variety of system utilities or install
various Linux distributions and other operating systems without a CD.

I wanted to package this interesting software by myself, but I found it has
some precompiled binaries (both for Windows and Linux), and after simply
removing them it doesn't compile. It does need at least two or three binaries
-- but I don't know how to circumvent this or how to use existing Debian
packages (if any exist for them): they are syslinux, but also other files
unknown to me, like "memdisk", or "ubn*".

Kindly,
David

Bug#324776: pocketpc packages

2008-12-13 Thread Shaun Jackman
Hi Justin,

I haven't used these packages in some time. I no longer have a Pocket
PC device, so I cannot test your work. The packages are based on
now-outdated versions of binutils and gcc, but updating those should
be straight forward. There's a separate package for pocketpc-gas,
because gas 2.13 was the last version (at the time) with which I was
able to produce a working DLL. Perhaps that bug's been fixed now. The
majority of the patches are to newlib to add a POSIX compatibility
layer that calls the underlying Pocket PC kernel system calls. Fire
any other questions my way.

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Daniel,

Could you please review the Debian packaging here of nostromo:

http://git.debian.org/?p=users/kai-guest/nostromo

I quickly created a manpage for the crypt tool ncrypt.1. I don't know
if there was a better way to do it instead. Like redirect ncrypt.1 to
nhttpd.8 ?

Also I'm not 100% sure about debian/logrotate. So please check that over.

No hurry and thanks again!

  Package name: last-align
  Version : 7
Upstream Author : Martin C. Frith and Paul B. Horton
  URL : http://last.cbrc.jp/
  License : GPL-3+
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : genome-scale comparison of biological sequences.

LAST is software for comparing and aligning sequences, typically DNA or
protein sequences. LAST is similar to BLAST, but it copes better with very
large amounts of sequence data. Here are two things LAST is good at:
 .
  * Comparing large (e.g. mammalian) genomes.
  * Mapping lots of sequence tags onto a genome.
 .
The main technical innovation is that LAST finds initial matches based on
their multiplicity, instead of using a fixed size (e.g. BLAST uses 11-mers).
This allows us to map tags to genomes without repeat-masking, without becoming
overwhelmed by repetitive hits. To find these variable-sized matches, it uses
a suffix array (inspired by Vmatch). To achieve high sensitivity, it uses a
discontiguous suffix array, analogous to spaced seeds.

The package is almost ready, but I will wait that GCC 4.3 issues are solved
upstream. Manpages are missing and I will not write some during the freeze.

This package will be part of a larger effort to make Debian the best platform
for large-scale genomics.

Have a nice day,

Charles

Bug#494921: RFP: ttf-jgaramond -- Garamond-like font

2008-12-13 Thread Luca Bruno
> I really don't know, what is the license. In this page it in section

The actual zip-file is lacking any license, so I'd assume this is
really not a free font.

Anyway the author seems to have dismissed it, so at this point he could
probably release it under a free license...

Cheers, Luca

Fabric is designed to upload files and run shell commands on a number of
servers in parallel or serially. These commands are grouped in tasks
(which are regular Python functions) and specified in a 'fabfile.'

It is similar to Capistrano, except it's implemented in Python and
doesn't expect you to be deploying Rails applications.
