Dink Smallwood is an adventure/role-playing game, similar to Zelda, made by RTsoft. Besides twisted humour, it includes the actual game editor, allowing players to create hundreds of new adventures called Dink Modules or D-Mods for short. The Dink Network hosts a copy of almost all of them. In 2003, Seth A. Robinson from RTsoft released the source code of the game engine, at version 1.07, under a free software license. Notes: Currently parts of the official data for this package are still under the control of RTSoft, although this is hoped to be resolved at some point. Until this point either this package will be placed in contrib with the data in non-free, or I shall create some simple data files myself under a free license, and not depend on the non-free data at all. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkiOBHkACgkQj3BimscY00cwtQCgmTnXSrXcEDusM/PXZtCurrfp 5tsAoKHL8oqLjS1EwpscRAUUO9HeUpfi =Lf7T -END PGP SIGNATURE- ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: freedink-data Source-Version: 1.08.20080920-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of freedink-data, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1.diff.gz to pool/main/f/freedink-data/freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1.diff.gz freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1.dsc to pool/main/f/freedink-data/freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1.dsc freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1_all.deb to pool/main/f/freedink-data/freedink-data_1.08.20080920-1_all.deb freedink-data_1.08.20080920.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/f/freedink-data/freedink-data_1.08.20080920.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. The problem is, that the concept of having a distribution or module specific share directory becomes a little hazy when you're loading everything from a single file. PAR uses an @INC hook to intercept any attempt to load a module. File::ShareDir uses the directory structure that is typically found in the directories that are listed in @INC for storing the shared data. In a PAR enviroment, this is not necessarily possible. When you call one of the functions that this module provides, it will take care to search in any of the currently loaded .par files before scanning @INC. This is the same order of preference you get for loading modules when PAR is in effect. If the path or file you are asking for is found in one of the loaded .par files, that containing .par file is extracted and the path returned will point to the extracted copy on disk. Depending on how you're using PAR, the files that are extracted this way are either cleaned up after program termination or cached for further executions. Either way, you're safe if you use the shared data as read-only data. If you write to it, your changes may be lost after the program ends. ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: libfile-sharedir-par-perl Source-Version: 0.03-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of libfile-sharedir-par-perl, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1.diff.gz to pool/main/libf/libfile-sharedir-par-perl/libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1.diff.gz libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1.dsc to pool/main/libf/libfile-sharedir-par-perl/libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1.dsc libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1_all.deb to pool/main/libf/libfile-sharedir-par-perl/libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03-1_all.deb libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/libf/libfile-sharedir-par-perl/libfile-sharedir-par-perl_0.03.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. The major new types are: * BiMap. A Map that guarantees unique values, and supports an inverse view. * Multiset. A Collection that may contain duplicate values like a List, yet has order-independent equality like a Set. Often used to represent a histogram. * Multimap. Similar to Map, but may contain duplicate keys. Has subtypes SetMultimap and ListMultimap providing more specific behavior. . There are also more than a dozen collection implementations, mostly of the interfaces above, but not all. ReferenceMap, for example, is a ConcurrentMap implementation which easily handles any combination of strong, soft or weak keys with strong, soft or weak values. Static utility classes include: * Comparators. Natural order, compound, null-friendly, ad-hoc, ... * Iterators and Iterables. Element-based equality, cycle, concat, partition, filter with predicate, transform with function ... * Lists, Sets and Maps. A plethora of convenient factory methods and much more. * PrimitiveArrays: boxing/unboxing of primitive arrays . As usual, my disclaimers are: IANAL, TINLA, IANADD, TINASOTODP. [...] CeCILL-B FREE SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT [...] Article 1 - DEFINITIONS [...] Software: means the software in its Object Code and/or Source Code form and, where applicable, its documentation, as is when the Licensee accepts the Agreement. This might seem to be an infinite recursive loop (software := software + documentation), but IMHO is not: it's just the definition of the term Software (with the capital letter) as used in the license text, which consists of software in source or non-source form, including documentation, if present. [...] Source Code: means all the Software's instructions and program lines to which access is required so as to modify the Software. Very weak definition of source code: if I write a program in C++ and then compile it to an executable binary, is access to C++ code *required* so as to modify the program? No, it's not *required*, as I can always use a hexeditor and directly modify the executable binary form. It will probably be a pain, and I would probably *prefer* editing C++ code and recompile, but... access to C++ code is not really *required*! For comparison, the GNU GPL defines source code as the *preferred* form for making modifications, not the *required* form... [...] 3.1 The Licensee shall be deemed as having accepted the terms and conditions of this Agreement upon the occurrence of the first of the following events: * (i) loading the Software by any or all means, notably, by downloading from a remote server, or by loading from a physical medium; This is problematic (as already pointed out by MJ Ray): the license is considered to be accepted by anyone who merely downloaded the Software from a remote server, possibly even before having the opportunity to actually read the license text! I don't know whether this is even legally enforceable: it looks really unfair. Moreover, IMO, a Free Software license should not restrict use, not even by insisting that users have to accept the license itself in order to get permission to merely use. [...] 3.2 One copy of the Agreement, containing a notice relating to the characteristics of the Software, to the limited warranty, and to the fact that its use is restricted to experienced users has been provided to the Licensee prior to its acceptance as set forth in Article 3.1 hereinabove, and the Licensee hereby acknowledges that it has read and understood it. It's not clear to me if (and how) 3.2 modifies 3.1(i)... [...] 5.3.4 CREDITS Any Licensee who may distribute a Modified Software hereby expressly agrees to: [...] 2. ensure that written indications of the Software intended use, intellectual property notice and license hereunder are included in easily accessible format from the Modified Software interface, This restriction is even worse than the obnoxious GPL display-notes-clause (GPLv2 clause 2c and GPLv3 clause 5d): it does not even have an exception for cases where the Initial Software does not display the notices... This is a mandatory feature that must be implemented in the Modified Software (even when it is not already present): I think it's a non-trivial restriction on modification. It could even fail to meet DFSG#3. 3. mention, on a freely accessible website describing the Modified Software, at least throughout the distribution term thereof, that it is based on the Software licensed hereunder, and reproduce the Software intellectual property notice, This seems to be utterly non-free. If I want to distribute the Modified Software, I have to write something somewhere on some website! I could even be unable to access the Internet, and just modify the Software and want to give the result to other people (maybe on a CD-ROM). It's a significant restriction on modification and I think it fails to meet DFSG#3. [...] 5.3.5 COMPATIBILITY WITH THE CeCILL AND CeCILL-C LICENSES Where a Modified Software contains a Contribution subject to the CeCILL license, the provisions set forth in Article 5.3.4 shall be optional. A Modified Software may be distributed under the CeCILL-C license. In such a case the provisions set forth in Article 5.3.4 shall be optional. I've not thought much about how these permissions impact on Free Software license compatibility: maybe this clause creates a path to convert to the GNU GPL, or maybe not. I see your repository only has old versions of zfs-fuse and I already packaged 0.5.0 for my own needs based on your packages. Bug#413115: Building glsof
I'm trying to build glsof, this interesting frontend of lsof. Source version is quite old (2006) but stable. As Giovanni previously mentioned, the build from 0.10.0alpha-pre4 is impossible. I start my work by downloading latest release from here (as upstream author say exactly the same thing at http://glsof.sourceforge.net/?q=node/31:) $ svn co https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/glsof glsof I need to test my package building with pbuilder (this failed tonight) but all the other process seems to be ok. I think packages ready in a few days (maybe after Christmas). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
