I'm particulary interested in this one.

We use a newer version in production, but can probably run some test
instances.

  Version : 22.0+2008-12-27
  Upstream Author : Drew Adams
* URL : http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/Icicles
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Lisp
Description : an emacs library that enhances minibuffer completion, that
is, input completion.

Icicles lets you do the following:
* cycle through completion candidates that match your current
  input
* use a pattern to match completion candidates, including:
  o regexp matching (including substring)
  o fuzzy matching
o prefix matching (as in vanilla Emacs)
  o command abbreviation matching
* use multiple regexps to match candidates, chaining these filters
  together like piped 'grep' commands
* see all possible complete inputs (pertinent commands, variables,
and so on) that match your partial or regexp input: the list is
updated dynamically (incrementally) if you change your input
* see all previous inputs that match your partial or regexp input,
  and selectively reuse them
* match input against completion candidates that do not match a
given regexp; that is, complement the set of matches and use the
  result for subsequent matching
* use multiple regexps to search (and replace) text across
  multiple buffers, files, or regions
* search areas of text that have a certain text property, such as
  a face
* browse Imenu or tags entries that match your partial or regexp
  input
* create and use multiple-choice menus; that is, menus where you
can choose multiple entries any number of times
* create and use multi-commands ? commands that you can use to
perform an action on any number of candidate inputs any number
  of times
* perform set operations (intersection, union,?) on the fly, using
sets of completion candidates or other strings
* persistently save and later reuse sets of completion candidates
  (e.g. project file names)
* complete input piecewise, against multiple completion
  candidates, in parallel
* complete key sequences, and navigate the key-binding hierarchy
(this includes the menu bar menu hierarchy) (see also LaCarte)
* sort completion candidates on the fly, in multiple,
  context-dependent ways

Bug#512360: RFH: openldap -- OpenLDAP server, libraries, and utilities

2009-01-19 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The OpenLDAP packaging for Debian could use additional resources. No one
on the current OpenLDAP maintenance team has very much time to work on
the package, and we're having difficulty keeping up with both the bug
queue and with upstream releases and fixes. Given that this is a fairly
critical package supplying both the LDAP libraries for many programs in
Debian and the LDAP server used by other Debian projects, this is not a
good situation.

We particularly need help with:

* Triaging Debian bugs, filing them upstream where needed, and helping
test and incorporate upstream fixes. Upstream is very active and
responsive, but expects careful attention to the existing documentation
and separation of OpenLDAP bugs from bugs in Debian's build,
  configuration, or any local modifications.

* Triage of TLS issues. For licensing reasons, Debian builds OpenLDAP
with GnuTLS instead of OpenSSL, which is unusual in the broader
OpenLDAP community. A lot of the open bugs are about TLS interoperability
issues, which need to be analyzed and reported against either GnuTLS or
upstream if they're problems with OpenLDAP's interface to GnuTLS. GnuTLS
upstream is very responsive and good about helping with this if the bug
  can be reproduced.

* Work on slapd configuration and maintenance. Upstream is converting to
cn=config (an LDIF configuration backend) and away from slapd.conf and
the Debian packages should do likewise. This will require extensive
testing during the squeeze release cycle.

* Testing, particularly of the server. Help from someone who runs the
Debian slapd packages in production with a fairly large directory, or
who can do so at least for testing, would be very welcome.

The upstream OpenLDAP team has had many bad experiences with distribution
packagers doing a poor job of supporting OpenLDAP packages and the
OpenLDAP project doesn't support old versions of OpenLDAP, so it's
important to carefully distinguish between Debian problems (including
those related to having an old version in stable) and upstream OpenLDAP
problems. Having a thick skin and a willingness to work through conflicts
is very helpful.

OpenLDAP is maintained via an Alioth Subversion repository and mailing
list. If you're willing to help, please join the mailing list via:

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-openldap-devel

and let us know what you can work on. Bug triage is a great place to
start.

Bug#507436: Jalview packaging efforts

2009-01-19 Thread Vincent Fourmond

  Hello,

The binary dependencies of jalview have seriously decreased over this
week-end. I can't say I'm done yet, but here is what is left:

castor-1.1-cycle-xml.jar Jmol-11.0.2.jar regex.jar vamsas-client.jar

I found where the regex.jar class comes from - and I've just filed an
ITP about that. I'll have a look at the rest sometime later.

  Cheers,

Vincent

Bug#456575: RFP: qelectrotech -- electric diagrams editor [#456575]

2009-01-19 Thread Didier Raboud
Hi, a quick note to bug #456575:

QElectroTech's upstream has source packages availables (and compiled for i386,
amd64, ia64 and s390) for version 0.1.1 . This may ease the "debianisation".

To Xavier Guerrin (upstream and bug reporter): Why not proposiing the package
to "Debian Mentors" ?

Ok I understand. I got a suggestion for another package with the same
problem. Clearly I will also contact upstram about that. I thought
only it would be easier to maintain, to not have a "mix" as debian/

Metalua is a metaprogramming language and a compiler which provide full
compatibility with Lua 5.1 sources and bytecode. It offers a complete macro
system similar in power to that offered by Lisp dialects or Template Haskell.
Namely, manipulated programs can be seen as source code, abstract syntax trees,
or an arbitrary mix thereof-- whichever suits your task better. It has a
dynamically extensible parser, which lets you support your macros with a
syntax that blends nicely with the rest of the language. A set of language
extensions is also provided, all implemented as regular Metalua macros.

That would be good if you could give that a try?

There's still the issue of if we should view ubuntu as an intermediate
upstream or just fork what they've already got.

git-buildpackage does sound quite reasonable to me.

So far I've used neither git nor bzr, my own work repositories are
only starting to migrate from CVS to SVN at the moment!

That works for me provided we find a solution to integrate with
ubuntu's packaging efforts.

Bug#471801: for would-be maintainers/adopters

2009-01-19 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Since I keep getting inquiries about taking this package over, with no
one actually ending up doing anything, let me summarize what I have told
people so far:

* How can you help? -- Triage bugs, submit patches, respond to user
inquiries, and so on. The usual stuff. I don't have a secret to-do
list. Use the BTS.

* The packaging is in the collab-maint subversion repository. If you
have something to commit, please do so. If you are not sure, attach
your patch to a bug or check with me first.

* In recent times, the packaging has been very stable. The main work is
integrating new upstream releases and the occasional CVE. Note that
historically many upstream releases of egroupware have been buggy and
have often been replaced by a fixup release a week later. :-/ So it is
wise to exercise some patience before jumping on a new release.

* Consequently, this is probably not a good package for some new
contributor to adapt just to be able to play around with packaging. The
*packaging* work consists mainly of downloading a new tarball, building
a package, and uploading it. The *maintenance* work consists of
triaging bugs and interacting with users and upstream maintainers.

* So, if you want to maintain this package, start by going through the
bug list, create patches, commit patches.

Bug#512220: ITP: mumbles -- plugin-driven notification system for GNOME

2009-01-19 Thread Дмитрий Ледков
Heya

Try contacting upstream and ask them to remove debian/ from the sources.

This is not sufficient reason for repackaging sources. diff.gz will be
clean enough. You should only repackage sources if there are not DFSG
free. For everything else (eg. upstream ships debian, or derictory
structure is akward) you should keep the original tarball.

Right now for this package the ability to check tarball checksums
outweighs "to have a "cleaner" Debian diff.gz".
