I've just hijacked that bug from you because I really need an up to date

Feel free to hijack it from me again if you want to, I will gladly

Bug#513938: ITP: libclass-method-modifiers-perl -- Perl module providing method modifiers

2009-02-02 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ansgar Burchardt ans...@43-1.org

* Package name: libclass-method-modifiers-perl
  Version : 1.01
  Upstream Author : Shawn M Moore sartak at gmail.com
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Class-Method-Modifiers
* License : GPL-1+ | Artistic (like perl)
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : provides Moose-like method modifiers

 Class::Method::Modifiers provides three modifiers: before, around, and
 after. before and after are run just before and after the method they
 modify, but cannot really affect that original method. around is run in
 place of the original method, with a hook to easily call that original
 method.

Class::Method::Modifiers is required by libemail-sender-perl (#510687).

Bug#513970: ITP: libsys-action-perl - Perl extension for Consistent Signal Handling

2009-02-02 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jeffrey Ratcliffe jeffrey.ratcli...@gmail.com

* Package name: libsys-action-perl
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Sys-SigAction/
* License : Perl
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Perl extension for Consistent Signal Handling

This module implements set_sig_handler(), which sets up a signal
handler and (optionally) returns an object which causes the signal
handler to be reset to the previous value, when it goes out of scope.

Also implemented is timeout_call() which takes a timeout value and a
code reference, and executes the code reference wrapped with an alarm
timeout.

Finally, two convenience routines are defined which allow one to get
the signal name from the number -- sig_name(), and get the signal
number from the name -- sig_number().

Bug#513973: ITP: b43-asm -- assembler and disassembler for Broadcom BCM43xx firmware

2009-02-02 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: Stefan Lippers-Hollmann s@gmx.de
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: Rene Engelhard r...@debian.org

* Package name: b43-asm
  Version : 0~20080619
  Upstream Author : Michael Buesch m...@bu3sch.de
* URL : http://git.bu3sch.de/git/b43-tools.git
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : assembler and disassembler for Broadcom BCM43xx firmware
 b43-asm is an (dis-)assembler for Broadcom AirForce BCM43xx wireless lan
 chipsets with a core revision = 5.
 .
 It is capable of compiling and disassembling the opensource 'OpenFWWF'
 firmware used by Linux' b43 driver.

This package is a build-dependency of OpenFWWF
http://www.ing.unibs.it/openfwwf/
an opensource (GPL-2) firmware for Broadcom AirForce BCM43xx wlan devices,
while this firmware is still in an early development stage, it allows to
drive BCM4306 (tested), BCM4318, BCM4311/1 and BCM4320 in combination with
the b43 (kernel = 2.6.20) without non-free components.

A preliminary packaging (which successfully compiles OpenFWWF 5.0/ 5.1)
can be found at:
Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.berlios.de/fullstory/b43-asm/trunk
Vcs-Browser:
http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/fullstory/b43-asm/trunk/
 http://svn.berlios.de/wsvn/fullstory/b43-asm/trunk/
At the time of this writing, particularly the manpages and a (manual)
get-upstream target (to fetch future updates from the upstream git
repository and to assemble an orig.tar.gz) need some further attention;
there is no released version of b43-asm yet, which explains the strange
version number referring to the last commited patch. The, so far included,
disassembler is not required to build OpenFWWF and could be omitted from
the preliminary packaging (it is currently only used for running a test
suite during the package build and may be useful for firmware debugging).

Even though there isn't much development going on for b43-asm, I would
prefer to maintain this and OpenFWWF in a team. CC'ing the b43-fwcutter
maintainer as requested.

Bug#513974: ITP: openfwwf -- Open Firmware for Broadcom b43 wlan devices

2009-02-02 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Package: wnpp

* Package name: openfwwf

* URL : http://www.ing.unibs.it/openfwwf/

  Programming Lang: assembler (b43-asm)
  Description : Open firmware for Broadcom BCM43xx (b43) wlan devices
 This package contains the open source firmware alternative for Broadcom
 AirForce BCM43xx wireless lan chipsets, which can be used in combination
 with the in-kernel b43 module of kernel 2.6.30 or above.
 .
 Known supported boards:
  * BCM4306
  * BCM4311/1
  * BCM4318
  * BCM4320

This package build-depends on b43-asm, which is the required assembler to build
the binary microcode for Broadcom AirForce BCM43xx wlan chipsets with a core
revision = 5. OpenFWWF in this packaging form requires kernel =2.6.30
(current wireless-testing) to function without further changes, as the
following commit[1] is required to look for the firmware at
/etc/modprobe.d/openfwwf/ (and to disable hardware encryption automatically).
Testing on kernel = 2.6.25 should succeed by symlinking /lib/firmware/b43/
to /lib/firmware/b43-open/ (attention, this would clash with b43-fwcutter!)
and adding options b43 nohwcrypt=1 qos=0 to /etc/modprobe.d/openfwwf.

A preliminary packaging (tested with BCM4306 and a patched kernel 2.6.28)
can be found at:
Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.berlios.de/fullstory/openfwwf/trunk
Vcs-Browser:
http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/fullstory/openfwwf/trunk/
 http://svn.berlios.de/wsvn/fullstory/openfwwf/trunk/

Given that the development of OpenFWWF is currently very active, team
maintenance would be ideal and moving the project to alioth or adding
additional developers to the current subversion repository should be
considered. CC'ing the b43-fwcutter maintainer as requested.

The following information explains the current limitations of OpenFWWF and
their influence on the packaging.

That's an interesting idea, but it means - if I got it right - pidgin
activates gnome-screensaver and not the other way around. This has the
problem of having to get used to two different actions to lock your
screen, depending on whether pidgin is active or not.

  http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/mlpost.git

If you can understand French, there is a paper about it:

  http://www.lri.fr/~filliatr/ftp/publis/mlpost-fra.pdf

Cheers,

 What do you mean?

That your package will shortly appear at:
http://cdd.alioth.debian.org/science/tasks/typesetting.html

To expand on this a little. Debian science is now providing
metapackages as a means of grouping together packages appropriate to
scientists. I've added your package to one of those metapackages.

If you are a scientist and not subscribed to
debian-scie...@lists.debian.org perhaps you should join.

Andreas,

I guess the appropriate field for this is:
  Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/mlpost.git

and possibly a
  Vcs-Git:

field.

Is it OK to add these?
Will the tools do anything with them?

 If you can understand French,

I can.

 there is a paper about it:

   http://www.lri.fr/~filliatr/ftp/publis/mlpost-fra.pdf

Thanks,

Chris
