Uh? Since when is Unrealircd dead upstream? I wouldn't call a release

Bug#503512: Orphaned fonts in Debian (ttf-arphic* ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts)

2009-02-16 Thread pabs
Hi all,

[Please CC pkg-fonts-devel and the appropriate bug reports in reply]

The following fonts are orphaned in Debian, we should fix that:

O 503517 ttf-arphic-bkai00mp -- AR PL KaitiM Big5 Chinese TrueType font by
Arphic Technology
O 503514 ttf-arphic-bsmi00lp -- AR PL Mingti2L Big5 Chinese TrueType font by

O 503512 ttf-arphic-gkai00mp -- AR PL KaitiM GB Chinese TrueType font by
Arphic Technology
O 459903 ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts -- BPG Georgian fonts for the graphical
installer

ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts:

This sounds like it is no longer needed by d-i:

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/GUIFonts

debian-boot folks, can you confirm that?

Can you provide contacts for people interested in Georgian who might
like to join the Debian fonts team and adopt this package?

Or would people interested in Georgian suggest removal of
ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts from Debian?

ttf-arphic-*

These don't appear to be used by the installer. Subscribers of the
debian-chinese-* lists, could you give any information about if these
fonts are still useful?

They need a new maintainer, would any of you like to join the Debian
fonts team and adopt these packages?

Or should we remove these fonts from Debian?

Bug#515573: O: exmap -- determine how much physical memory and swap is used by individual processes

2009-02-16 Thread Samuel Mimram
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the exmap package since it's in a bad shape and I
don't have enough time to take care of it.

The package description is:
Exmap is a memory analysis tool which allows you to accurately determine how
much physical memory and swap is used by individual processes and shared
libraries on a running system. In particular, it accounts for the sharing of
memory and swap between different processes.

Bug#515438: lostlabyrinth-graphics: copyright problems

I think I've seen a lot of those graphics before.

it's the front cover of ISBN 978-0786903054 for example.

Correct, Neither of these fonts is used by the installer anymore. No
objection from the D-I team to remove them from the archive.

And if they are kept in the archive, it would probably be best to drop
their udebs.

Davide: are there any other font packages we no longer use but which still
provide udebs? If there are, could you perhaps file BRs against them
requesting to drop the udebs?

Font packages are usually much simpler than other Debian packages.

You can find many examples of font packages in Debian, ttf-* and the
ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts is working fine.

You will need a Debian sid installation so that you can reproduce any
bugs that may be filed.

You should join the pkg-fonts project so you can commit stuff to SVN:

http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-fonts

You should also join the pkg-fonts mailing list:

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-fonts-devel

The first thing that should be done is to package the latest upstream
version, clean up the package and deal with the only open bug, which
happens to be an Ubuntu one:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ttf-bpg-georgian-fonts/+bug/42922

Good luck with your exams, cya soon!

i'll look at it, thanks for bringing it to attention.

Bug#504134: ssvnc packaging

2009-02-16 Thread Saïvann
I case that it might be useful, I already worked with Karl J. Runge to
create a package for a recent version of ssvnc. My work is in my ubuntu
PPA :

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/saivann/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

This package is probably almost ready to use for debian as it respects
most (if not all) packaging rules and policies. A good debian maintainer
is needed to review and adapt the package.

I sent a message about this to the debian mailing list :
http://osdir.com/ml/debian-qa-packages/2009-02/msg00078.html

What's the advantage of keeping kmess and kmess2 in the archive in parallel ?

Have you coordinated with the kmess maintainers?

And please take a look at pkg-kde-tools when eventually packaging it.

Uh? Since when is Unrealircd dead upstream? I wouldn't call a release
less then a month ago dead upstream, regardless of what can be
 said about unrealircd otherwise.

Once 3.2.8 final is out the door, it will be stagnant. Syzop has a
fairly large slacker attitude, and is only interested in Unreal for the
money (oops, it doesn't make any for him anymore. especially not now
with InspIRCd).

As such, we can call Unreal dead now, barring some miracle -- but I
don't see this happening with next generation ircd picking up steam like
InspIRCd - which cater to that same market of IRC admin which would be
interested in Unreal.

Bug#382727: Remove gtimer

thanks

No one has stepped forward to adopt this package since I put it up for
adoption more than two years ago, and GTK 1.x is being removed from the
archive. I don't use the package any more, and no one else has had time
to port it. Upstream still exists, but they haven't released a new
version in many years.

Accordingly, I think it's time to remove gtimer from Debian.
