fuse-zip is a FUSE file system to navigate, extract, create and modify ZIP
 archives based in libzip implemented in C++.
With fuse-zip you really can work with ZIP archives as real
directories. Unlike KIO or Gnome VFS, it can be used in any application without
modifications.

May I ask you to consider maintaining this package in PAPT[1] or
DPMT[2] (depends on which fits better: if it's mainly a module, useful
to others too, with just a commodity command-line tool I'd say use
DPMT; if it's a cli program with a private module or so, then go
PAPT).

Does this mean that you're looking for a sponsor ? (then you should proceed
with a RFS, I guess)

In any case, I'm not a DD, so cannot help much ;)

Will try to give it a look some day (later than in 10 days since on vacation).

* URL : http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/Connector_C++
* License : GPL v2 with "FLOSS exception"
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : MySQL C++ Connectivity library

 MySQL Connector/C++ is a MySQL database connector for C++.
 .
 It mimics the JDBC 4.0 API.

OpenOffice.org will somewhen include a native driver for
MySQL - which uses mysqlcppconn - they already have experimental stuff
there.

MySQL people: I already did some work on it and have a preliminary package
of 1.0.2~2008121 here (yet without the shared lib as API still changes, we
also could wait till I upload it or just package the static lib - which
I think we should do anyway for now).

But should I "just" maintain it myself or shoudld I (imho better) put this
under pkg-mysql-maint?

Regards,

Rene

   * Use debehlper 7's dh command, depend on debhelper >= 7 and revamp
 debian/rules.
   * Only recommend xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, it could be possible that
 someone would like to use this package with an unpackaged synaptics
 xorg input driver.
   * Adjust Homepage field.
   * Use machine parsable debian/copyright format.
   * Add a debian/README.Debian to describe how to turn on SHMConfig, as that
 is required for touchfreeze to operate correctly.
   * Add Vcs-Svn and Vcs-Browser fields to debian/control.

 Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the

 .
 Maven's primary goal is to allow a developer to comprehend the complete

 to deal with:
 .
* Making the build process easy
* Providing a uniform build system
* Providing quality project information
* Providing guidelines for best practices development
* Allowing transparent migration to new features
 .
 The Maven 2 Site Plugin is used to generate a site for the project. The
 generated site also includes the project's reports that were configured in the

  Description : LensCorrection editor plugin

Database of photographic lenses and their characteristics.

The lensfun library not only provides a way to read the database
and search for specific things in it, but also provides a set of
algorithms for correcting images based on detailed knowledge of
lens properties. Right now lensfun is designed to correct
distortion, transversal (also known as lateral) chromatic aberrations,
vignetting and colour contribution of the lens (e.g. when sometimes
people says one lens gives "yellowish" images and another, say, "bluish").

Description: talloc-based event  loop library

tevent is a simple library that can handle the main event loop for an
application. It supports three kinds of events: timed events, file
descriptors becoming readable or writable and signals.

Talloc is used for memory management, both internally and for private
data provided by users of the library.

This library is used by newer versions of libldb, which is already in
Debian.

And it never will, it is just plain impossible. Source it could hold, but
that's useless from a normal user perspective, so it is a completely useless
feature for Linux, and it can be unconditionally disabled on all WWAN modems
(not just "Option WWAN"), IMO.

That makes it the kernel's business. I am not against Debian adding these
userspace utilities, mind you (so I am not against your ITP), they will be
needed for at least one year...

That's the clinch, then. It only becomes usable after the cdrom emulator is
disabled, so the kernel driver is incomplete if it doesn't do it (again,
IMO).

This is a kernel deficiency, and it can and should be fixed (if it isn't
already by adding quirks to the option module or whatever).

This should also be fixed in the kernel, and appears to be a consequence of
the stuff above.

This is ALSO a kernel bug that needs to be fixed, unless "a hard disconnect"
is something that violates some spec, which I very much doubt, since SCSI is
supposed to support target-initiated disconnection.

Bug#516258: ITP: ozerocdoff -- temporarily disables ZeroCD

2009-02-21 Thread Julien Valroff
Hi Henrique,

Sorry for top-posting, I CC Aurélien and Didier as they are dealing with
usb-modeswitch which plays the same role as ozerocdoff hence leave your
full answer below.

Thanks for your help and explanations. I think we can work with both
Aurélien and Didier to fill these bugs. If we can avoid using userspace
utilities (be it rezero, oozerocdoff or usb-modeswitch), that would
indeed be great, but do you think kernel developers will agree to
completely de-activate CD emulation possibilities? Don't you think they
**might** have a use for Linux users in the future?

Again, many thanks!

Julien

Bug#516446: ITP: libtest-poe-server-tcp -- a POE Component providing TCP server services for test cases

2009-02-21 Thread Antonio Radici
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Antonio Radici

* Package name: libtest-poe-server-tcp
  Version : 0.18
  Upstream Author : Chris BinGOs Williams
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Test-POE-Server-TCP/
* License : GPL-1+ | Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : a POE Component providing TCP server services for test cases

Test::POE::Server::TCP provides a TCP server framework for inclusion in
client component test cases, instead of having to roll your own
.
Once registered with the component, a session will receive events related to
client connects, disconnects, input and flushed output. Each of these events
will refer to a unique client ID which may be used in communication with the
component when sending data to the client or disconnecting a client connection.

Bug#510476: LinuxCallRouter - New packages

Hello all,

as there is a new upstream version I thought it is worth another
announcement that debian packages for lcr are available at
http://www.dorchain.net/~joerg/code/debian/.

As I received no feedback from last time and my logs show only
some interested bots trying the packages, I still appreciate any
comments.

Bug#516456: O: gnome-pilot -- A GNOME applet for management of your Palm PDA

2009-02-21 Thread Felipe Roquette
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

I intend to orphan the gnome-pilot package.
There is a svn for future maintainers:
svn://svn.debian.org/collab-maint/ext-maint/gnome-pilot
It has been more then a year that I do not use my Palm V anymore.
Gnome Pilot 2.0.17 is out and it is a good idea to update the
gnome-pilot package.

The package description is:
 gnome-pilot is a GNOME applet with a daemon that monitors for
 connections from a PalmOS-based device. It features a conduit
 system, although it contains only basic conduits.
 .
 gnome-pilot-conduits is recommended for a full set of conduits.
 .
 pilot-link is used to make the connection to the device, and as
 such, this package should work with serial devices, USB devices
 given proper kernel support, and with XCopilot. See the package
 documentation or pilot-link's documentation for more information
 on configuring various types of interfaces.

Bug#515544: (no subject)

2009-02-21 Thread Daniel Moerner
retitle 515544 ITA: scheme48 -- A simple, modular, and lightweight Scheme
implementation
owner 515544 !
thanks

Hi Trent,

I am willing to adopt scheme48. I currently maintain ypsilon, an R6RS Scheme
interpreter that is waiting in NEW. Ypsilon only supports amd64 and x86; I
still use scheme48 on my powerpc and armel machines.

I do have a couple of questions about the package:

First, is there a reason why debian/scheme48.1 is shipped when doc/scheme48.man
is present in the source? doc/scheme48.man is set up as a template that can be
modified for each different binary.

Second, have:

 bugfix-wait-for-child-eats-100%-cpu.diff
 honor-destdir.diff

been forwarded upstream?

Third, is debian-user-name.diff needed? If this patch is necessary,
I plan to change it to give the hostname of the buildd used to build the
package, which is how emacs does it. What would be the name presented if
the patch wasn't applied?

Fourth, I presume that pkg-scheme48 is a dead group? I would have no issue
with starting a pkg-scheme group, or at least a way to coordinate scsh
with scheme48. I do plan to implement versioned releases of scheme48 so
it would be nice to have access to that group to edit policy.txt.

Thanks for orphaning a package that is not a mess. Have fun with Haskell!
(If I remember our IRC convo correctly...)

Bug#516488: RFH: kernel-patch-exec-shield -- protection against stack smashing and other attacks

2009-02-21 Thread Marcus Better
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

This kernel patch provides exec-shield, a security feature for the
Linux kernel on i386 (it is not relevant for x86_64). The patch is
present in Fedora kernels, which is also the upstream maintainer.

Since I hardly use i386 machines anymore, I need help with any of the
following:

  * Co-maintaining the package
  * Testing patches for new versions of the Debian kernel

The package is maintained in the collab-maint svn repository.

Bug#516501: RFH: libapache2-mod-python -- Python-embedding module for Apache 2

2009-02-21 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hello,
I'm hereby looking for a person to support DPMT[1] in maintaining
libapache2-mod-python. I did the latest team uploads, but I don't use it, so I'm
not the right person to maintain it.

[1] http://wiki.debian.org/Teams/PythonModulesTeam

The package has some bugs to triage, fix or else report upstream, other than
that it's not in a bad shape, but having someone that can cope with the package
in a good way is really needed.

A strict requirement is that the package needs to remain in the DPMT repository,
in reply we can offer sponsorship (I know the package so you can contact me for
any support/question) and mentoring.

Robert (the current co-maintainer) agreed to this RFH.

The package description is:
 The mod_python module supports web applications written in Python.
 Because the parser is embedded in the server as an Apache module, it
 will run much faster than traditional CGI.
 .
 This package is built for the current Python version.

Bug#372268: Valkyrie 1.4.0 out

Hi,

I wanted to give a try to Valkyrie. I was waiting for 1.4.0 since 1.3.0
did not support Valgrind 3.3.x.

I asked upstream this morning, and he has uploaded/updated it today.

For fun I have repackaged Valkyrie with debhelper (do not know anything
on cdbs). It looks like it works, but it still required a bit of cleaning.

A binary named "see" already exists (provided by mime-support). So you
will have to rename the binary. It would be nice to name the package
accordingly.

BTW, the URL you have provided isn't the software's homepage, but a
redirect to the actual homepage:

I wonder if this package should not be removed altogether:

 * It does work with the current stable kernel, see #510118 (eek)

 * Its functionality can be almost trivially reimplemented:

 import sys
 from pyinotify import WatchManager, Notifier, EventsCodes
 mask = EventsCodes.IN_MODIFY | EventsCodes.IN_DELETE | \
EventsCodes.IN_ATTRIB | EventsCodes.IN_CREATE

 def callback(x):
 # call program here
 pass

 wm = WatchManager()
 notifier = Notifier(wm, callback)
 wm.add_watch(sys.argv[1:], mask)
 while True:
 try:
 notifier.process_events()
 if notifier.check_events(timeout=None):
 notifier.read_events()
 except Exception:
 notifier.stop()
 break

   Just add a bunch of option handling and you're away.

 * The whole dnotify interface has been obsoleted by inotify since 2005

I believe this package should be removed from Debian:

 1) There has not been a sourceful upload of this package since January
2004 (and has been orphaned since October 2005).

This in itself would not be a strong argument, but in those five years
DC++ protocols and clients have moved on somewhat and dcgui cannot
connect to most hubs (and can connect to even fewer clients).

 2) It has an excellent (GTK-based) replacement, linuxdcpp.

 3) The UI is simply *awful*. Just run it and you'll see what I mean. Just,
wow.
