Bug#516659: ITP: w3bfukk0r -- scan webservers for hidden directories (forced browsing)

2009-02-23 Thread Joerg Jaspert
 * Package name: w3bfukk0r
   Version : 0.2
Upstream Author : Nico Golde and Andreas Krennmair
 * URL : http://www.ngolde.de/w3bfukk0r.html* License : MIT
   Programming Lang: C
Description : scan webservers for hidden directories (forced browsing)
w3bfukk0r is a forced browsing tool, it basically scans webservers
(HTTP/HTTPS) for a directory by using HTTP HEAD command and brute force
mechanism based on a word list.

This got rejected 2006 already, and as the name is still the same, it
will be again. Except, of course, you rename it :) :

Hi,

The name for this package is not acceptable, please either choose something
sensible for the name in Debian or see if upstream (one of whom I believe is
wannabe DD) to use something more sensible themselves.

Thanks.

Well, nobody is forcing you to join a team - you are perfectly free
to do so. But I feel some inconsitency in your reasoning: You do not
want the help of a team because you are not experienced? Especially
in this case I would recommend reading

   http://debian-science.alioth.debian.org/debian-science-policy.html

because it gives some reasonable framework and if it comes to seeking
a sponsor you are welcome to ask on debian-scie...@lists.debian.org.

Joining the Debian Science team means getting help in packaging scientific
software not adding another task to your shoulders. ;-)

Kind regards

The object produced by Data::Pageset can be used to create page navigation,
it inherits from Data::Page and has access to all methods from this object.

In addition it also provides methods for dealing with set of pages, so
that if there are too many pages you can easily break them into chunks for
 the user to browse through.

You can even choose to view page numbers in your set in a 'sliding' fassion.

The object can easily be passed to a templating system such as Template
Toolkit or be used within a script.

This package will be maintained by the pkg-perl team.

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:

 * maintainer seems not active
 * no upload maintainer since long

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, sending the following commands
to cont...@bugs.debian.org should do it (after replacing nn with
this bug's number):

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please

Thank you,

Peter Gordon
Yves Rizoud
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/
* License : GNU GPL 2
Description : Ultimate 256-color bitmap paint program
This is a bitmap paint program that allows you to draw in more than 60 video
resolutions (from 320x200 to 1024x768, including most of the standard Amiga
resolutions : 320x256, 320x512, 640x256, 640x512, etc... provided your videocard
knows how to handle them).

.
This program is dedicated to everybody who knows what a single pixel is. Its
layout is not very different from the famous Deluxe Paint or Brilliance, so it
will be quite easy to handle it if you know at least one of these programs. If you
aren't used to the art of drawing with up to 256 colors, it will be a little more
difficult for you, but you should give it a try (or more, because most of the
power of this program won't show up on the first try).

Nico Golde is a Debian Developer, and a member of the Testing Security
Team. I think this suggests two things.

First, this package may be related to security audits.

Second, there may be a reason it isn't already in Debian if he is the
upstream. Have you contacted him about this?

Since there are still a lot of people taking names a bit too
serious (the name is meant as a joke) another ITP for this
was already rejected some time ago as Joerg stated.

I tried to discuss this on -devel some time ago but there
was no useful reaction on this:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/11/msg00566.html

So if you want this in Debian you need to rename it.

Cheers
Nico

Quoting Soeren Sonnenburg so...@debian.org:

Sure, but you should carefully check whether licenses (coinor uses CLP)

an exception in case there is a problem...

 Soeren

Well, I'm clearly no license-expert, so feel free to prove me
wrong, but I don't think we have a license issue here: currently
coq and csdp form two separate and autonomous processes. Simply,
coq may submit a problem to csdp (by mean of a pipe or whatever)
and digest the output of csdp about this particular problem. In
addition, coq is clearly usable even without csdp being installed
on the system: in this case, the proof method that uses cdsp as
oracle will not be available, but coq provides many other proof
methods (they may be slower and/or more painful, but they work).

Best,

Pierre

Bug#516750: ITP: rsplib -- Implementation of the IETF's Reliable Server Pooling (RSerPool) standard defined in RFCs 5351 to 5356.

  Programming Lang: C, C++
Description : Implementation of the IETF's Reliable Server Pooling
(RSerPool) standard defined in RFCs 5351 to 5356.

RSPLIB is the Open Source implementation (GPLv3) of the IETF's standard for
Reliable Server Pooling (RSerPool). RSerPool is a framework for server pool
management and access. It is an IETF standard, which has been developed by
the IETF RSerPool Working Group and documented in RFC 5351 to RFC 5356. From
the programmer's perspective, a pool is mainly seen as a highly available
server. RSerPool realizes a Session Layer in the OSI model. The API to
access this Session Layer is very similar to TCP/IP socket programming, so
using RSerPool functionalities in own programs is quite easy. If you are
looking for a simple-to-use workload distribution system including failover
capabilities, but without the overhead and configuration effort of GRID
computing, RSPLIB is probably what you are looking for! A lot of documents
on RSerPool and RSPLIB can be found on the project homepage at:
http://tdrwww.iem.uni-due.de/dreibholz/rserpool/ .

RSPLIB is already included in Ubuntu Intrepid and Jaunty. Therefore, I
would like to add it to Debian, too.

This is a nit, but it' seems inappropriate to refer to rsrvpool as a

experimental because of serious concerns raised at the IESG level.

It would be better to describe it as the reliable server pool

Description: The libotf libraries and debugging symbols
The libotf library provides the following facilities:
  - Read Open Type Layout Tables from OTF file. Currently these
tables are supported; head, name, cmap, GDEF, GSUB, and GPOS.
  - Convert a Unicode character sequence to a glyph code sequence by
using the above tables.
 .
The combination of libotf and the FreeType library (Ver.2) realizes
CTL (complex text layout) by OpenType fonts.
 .
This package contains unstripped shared libraries. it is provided
primarily to provide a backtrace with names in a debugger, this makes
it somewhat easier to interpret core dumps. The libraries are installed
in /usr/lib/debug and can be used by placing that directory in
 LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Most people will not need this package.

Bug#516545: ITP: eprover -- The Equational Theorem Prover E

2009-02-23 Thread Petr Pudlak (Debian)
  Hi,

as I was suggested, I'm looking for a sponsor for the eprover package, who
would help me with publishing the package. (http://bugs.debian.org/516545). I
believe that Debian Science would be a proper place for it. As advised, I
obtained a more proper description:

Description: Theorem prover for first-order logic with equality
E is a fully automatic theorem prover for full first-order logic with
equality. It accepts a mathematical specification and, optionally, a
hypothesis, and tries to prove the hypothesis and/or find a
saturation representing a (counter-)model for the specification.
 .
E is based on a purely equational problem representation and
implements a variant of the superposition calculus. Proof search can
be guided with a multitude of options or a powerful automatic
configuration mode. The system can process input in a number of
different formats, including the standard TPTP-2 and TPTP-3
formats. It can generate proof objects in PCL2 or TPTP-3/TSTP
 format.
 .
E is considered one of the most powerful and friendly automated
theorem provers for first-order logic. It has consistently been among
the top system in the major categories of the CASC system competition,
and usually been the strongest free software system.

My packages can be found at https://petr.pudlak.name/deb/
Lintian doesn't complain.

I must admit that some maintainers at the debian-mentors list weren't
too happy with the man pages. At this point they are more or less
just created using help2man and probably I can't do better in near future.
(See the discussion at
 http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2009/02/threads.html#00211 )
However, the package includes more thorough PDF documentation
from the upstream author.

Thanks for help,
  Petr

E is an automated equational theorem prover. That means it is a program

I request assistance with maintaining the spamassassin package. I've
been fairly slow to respond to bug reports and packaging issues, and I
don't forsee this getting any better in the forseeable future.

The Debian packaging efforts are coordinated in the collab-maint
Alioth project Subversion tree. (See
http://wiki.debian.org/Alioth/PackagingProject.) Discussion can be
done throught the PTS. Be sure to read the documentation on
svn-buildpackage and dpatch.

If you're interested, please jump right in. Take a look at the bug
list, and help forward bugs upstream
(http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org), close bugs, or fix bugs as
necessary. All Debian developers have access to the collab-maint tree
to make changes directly (if you're not a DD, contact me). I'm happy
to add interested people to the Uploaders: field once I start seeing
some contributions.

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or
concerns. Thanks in advance!
