Bug#434489: http://debian.physik.hu-berlin.de/

2009-03-04 Thread Kasper Peeters
Hi all,

I have meanwhile submitted packages for both modglue and cadabra to
the Ubuntu REVU site for approval. They are not yet through though,
and sit in a dormant state (it's incredibly hard to find sponsorship
for scientific software, I have to say). But if you are interested in
pushing the packaging for Debian, it is probably best to start from
those Ubuntu packages.

See http://revu.ubuntuwire.com for more details.

Let me know what you plan to do (I have more or less given up on ever
getting this into an official Debian repository).

Cheers,
Kasper

To package not the latest version available was a choice of the
maintainer, Jeffrey, because he wanted to push this version in, while
working "behind the curtains" to prepare newer versions.

I think you can change install.cmake so that

  SET(LIBDIR "lib[64]")

becomes

  SET(LIBDIR "lib[64]/cuneiform")

CMake sets rpath automatically in the executable so that the correct
libraries are used. As far as I understand, hiding private libraries
like this is a valid use of rpath in Debian.

Bug#456227: What is the status of sphinxsearch?

2009-03-04 Thread Micah Anderson

Hi all,

The last update to the Debian ITP bug (456227), and the Launchpad group
(https://code.launchpad.net/~pkg-sphinx) was in July of last year.

I'm wondering what the situation is with this effort? I'm sure everyone
is very busy, so I don't mean to be a pest, but I also wanted to point
out that the package was pretty much ready to go, just needing one or
two last tweaks to get it in place (although a RC for 0.9.9 was released
sometime last year now too).

Are folks still interested in getting sphinxsearch into debian and
ubuntu?

Bug#517999: RFS: gremind -- Simple reminder program for GNOME

2009-03-04 Thread Sebastian Krause
retitle 517999 RFS: gremind -- Simple reminder program for GNOME
thanks

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "gremind".

* Package name: gremind
  Version : 0.1.2-1
  Upstream Author : Sergio Perticone
* URL : http://perticone.homelinux.net/~sergio/c++/gremind/
* License : GPL
  Section : gnome

It builds these binary packages:
gremind- Simple reminder program for GNOME

gremind allows you to remind yourself of events and appointments and
notifies you a single or several (periodic) times.

It stays in the system tray and provides a graphical interface to
add and manage your events. Every time an event happens, it outputs
a notification in the system tray and optionally plays a sound.

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 517999

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/gremind
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/gremind/gremind_0.1.2-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Sebastian Krause

How is gremind different from tkremind? tkremind is a tk frontend to
'remind'. 'remind' can do all sorts of reminders, holiday skips ect.
while tkremind can pop up windows for timed reminders, play a sound and
be iconified.

Yes, unfortunately the upstream author hosts his website on a dial-up
connection and he has confirmed to me by email that there are currently
problems with the server, but it should be back up in a few days.
Meanwhile here is the Google Cache of the site:

Being a Tk application tkremind is naturally ugly. When I tried out
tkremind I didn't really like it. On the other hand, gremind rather uses
the gnomeish approach with a rather slick and intuitive interface. Its
simple interface and the fact that it's built upon GTK+ instead of Tk
might get some people to prefer it over tkremind. While the developer's
page is down, a screenshot is also available at the program's Freshmeat
page:
