Bug#512220: Upstream not active?

2009-03-23 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi all

I tried to contact upstream about the debian/ directory question but
didn't get any answer. I do not know if they are developing mumbles
actively.

The last checkin to svn at
https://mumbles.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mumbles/branches/backports0.4-branch
was on 2008-11-29 16:29:38 +0100 (Sat, 29 Nov 2008).

Bug#509951: media-applet packaging

2009-03-23 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi Hugo, and all others

Cc'ing Christian

Will notice you about the packaging of media-applet. I had not much
time last weeks for that, but I will try to do the packaging of
media-applet 0.4 until this weekend. vala 0.5.7 is in unstable which
seems to be a requirement for media-applet. So hopefully it is ready
to the end of week.

Well, I have only one box running oidentd, so I might be somewhat
interested in having it in a good shape in Debian, but prolly not as
the sole maintainer. Additionally I'm usually not behind NAT, so
wouldnt be able to test every possible configuration of it.

That said, if you want it - take it and I'll be happy to help you where
I can.

Thank you very much for your work in getting XBMC packaged for Debian.

Could you give a status update on your work? And even better could you
provide packages in a private repository for testing?

As you probably know there are also packages for Ubuntu available [1].
Do you guys work together to save work?

Thanks,

Paul

Bug#520900: ITP: flvmeta -- Metadata injector for FLV video files

2009-03-23 Thread Asbjørn Sloth Tønnesen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : flvmeta
Version : 1.0.7
Upstream Author : Marc Noirot
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/flvmeta/
* License : GPL
Description :
FLVmeta aims to be a replacement for tools such as flvtool2.

It is able to inject all known metadata tags into the onMetaData event,
as well as insert an onLastSecond event.

Since version 1.0.7, it is also able to fix very large FLV files with
invalid 24-bit timestamps to make proper use of 32-bit extended timestamps.

FLVmeta is written in portable C, it can therefore be compiled on a
variety of platforms, including Linux, Windows, and MacOSX. It is also
fast and has a very small memory footprint.

have we got an answer/statement to this yet?

Will it make sense to start packaging in pkg-multimedia git now?

Bug#520955: ITP: xserver-xorg-video-glamo -- X.Org X server -- SMedia Glamo display driver

2009-03-23 Thread Luca Capello
Package: wnpp
Owner: Luca Capello
Severity: wishlist
User: pkg-fso-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: package-creation

* Package name: xserver-xorg-video-glamo
  Version : MMDD.gitCOMMIT (read below)
Upstream Author : mainly Lars-Peter Clausen
* URL or Web page : http://git.openmoko.org/?p=xf86-video-glamo.git;a=summary
* License : multiple, mostly XFree86 (full texts below)
Description : X.Org X server -- SMedia Glamo display driver
This package provides the driver for the SMedia Glamo 3362 chipset,
mostly found on the Openmoko Neo FreeRunner (GTA02).
 .
More information about X.Org can be found at:
 http://www.X.org>
 http://xorg.freedesktop.org>
 http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg>
 .
This package is built from the X.Org xf86-video-glamo driver module.
=

NB, I cc:ed a lot of lists: please refrain to discuss non-Debian issues
on all of them. Except for general issues, pkg-fso-maint@ is the most
relevant one, which should always be cc:ed, TIA.

This driver is based on the XFree86 fbdev driver, then adapted to the
SMedia Glamo chipset, more information are available at

  http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Smedia_Glamo_3362

In my plan, this supersedes the Xglamo kdrive X11 server, which AFAIK is
not update anymore, ATM available in the pkg-fso repository at

  http://pkg-fso.alioth.debian.org

The xserver-xorg-video-glamo package as well will be maintained under
the pkg-fso umbrella, but I would like to work as close as possible with
the X Strike Force, to be sure the package conforms their standards. If
the X Strike Force would like to take care of the package, I would more
than glad to "offer" it to them...

In src/glamo-driver.c, GLAMO_VERSION is set to 1000: however, this
driver has not seen any public release yet, thus my intent to use the
date of the last Git commit plus the first 8 letters of the Git commit
itself as upstream version.

the driver doesn't come from X.Org, so this (and the links above) is
probably unnecessary. Also probably s/X.Org/Xorg/ in the short
description, since that is referring to a particular DDX.

I think it's better if the driver is maintained by people who use it, so
I'm happy to see the pkg-fso team take care of it :)
Feel free to ask on debian-x@ or #debian-x for any questions you have
though, or if you want us to look over the package before upload.

Cheers,

Bug#509063: Upstream bug about WPAD security issues

2009-03-23 Thread Andreas Rottmann

As I discovered that libsoup SVN trunk has libproxy as an optional build
dependency, I stumbled upon this ITP, and found out that upstream has
been made aware of this issue:

http://code.google.com/p/libproxy/issues/detail?id=21

Based on that bug, I assume that a future release release will offer
Debian these options:

1) Don't ship the offending plugin at all in a/the binary package, or
2) disable the use of the plugin via the default config file

I think admins should be free (and in general are, FWIW ;-)) to shoot
themselves and the users of the boxes they administer in the proverbial
foot, so I'd suggest going with (2).

However, I agree that until this "feature" can be reliably and
mandatorily disabled by the admin (and is disabled by a stock Debian
install), this package should not enter Debian.

Regards, Rotty

hmmm...I haven't noticed this, and I actually use a different provider
most of the time. Perhaps it is the date or geography? Anyway, I may
have somewhere, such as I will submit to sourceforge, which is very
slow -- perhaps debian has somewhere I could ftp it, the site is only a
few megs and all client side javascript?

I will add some kind of short web "intro to see" later this week,
trying to demonstrate how I envision it's use particularly under GNOME.
