numerical computation software.

Although users can use directly the pkg() command for installing the
octave-forge pkgs, the Debian Octave Group (DOG) [2] will provide them
as Debian packages. Preliminary versions of the packages can be found
in the DOG SVN repository [3]. The final versions of the packages
will be built using the octave-pkg-dev insfrastructure [4] [5].

Bug#522138: RFP: gears -- Gears (formally Google Gears)

2009-05-24 Thread Stefan Lesicnik
Hi guys,

I started working on packing Gears [0] a little while ago for Ubuntu, and I
think we have made some good progress.

Currently the package is in REVU [1] for Ubuntu. I would like to submit it
Debian, but we are currently waiting on mozilla-devscripts making it into
Debian (should be this week hopefully).
Once that is in, I will submit it to Debian.

I hope this isn't taking away from any work that was already done in Debian.
I did mail the original ITP owner, but got no response.

Bug#530409: ITP: libunwind -- efficient C call-chain interface

2009-05-24 Thread Monty Taylor
Package: wnpp
Owner: Monty Taylor mord...@inaugust.com
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libunwind
  Version : 0.99
  Upstream Author : David Mosberger dmosber...@gmail.com
* URL : http://www.nongnu.org/libunwind/index.html
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Efficient C call-chain interface

The primary goal of libunwind is to define a portable and efficient C
programming interface (API) to determine the call-chain of a program.
The API additionally provides the means to manipulate the preserved
(callee-saved) state of each call-frame and to resume execution at any
point in the call-chain (non-local goto). The API supports both local
(same-process) and remote (across-process) operation. As such, the API
is useful in a number of applications. Some examples include:

exception handling
The libunwind API makes it trivial to implement the
stack-manipulation aspects of exception handling.
debuggers
The libunwind API makes it trivial for debuggers to generate the
call-chain (backtrace) of the threads in a running program.
introspection
It is often useful for a running thread to determine its call-chain.
For example, this is useful to display error messages (to show how the
error came about) and for performance monitoring/analysis.
efficient setjmp()
With libunwind, it is possible to implement an extremely efficient
version of setjmp(). Effectively, the only context that needs to be
saved consists of the stack-pointer(s).

Bug#530427: ITP: libguestfs -- library for accessing and modifying guest disk images

2009-05-24 Thread Richard Jones
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Richard Jones rjo...@redhat.com

* Package name: libguestfs
  Version : 1.0.31
  Upstream Author : Richard W.M. Jones rjo...@redhat.com
* URL : http://et.redhat.com/~rjones/libguestfs/
* License : LGPL
  Programming Lang: C, Shell script, various others
  Description : library for accessing and modifying guest disk images

(Copied from the website, which best summarises this ...)

libguestfs is a library for accessing and modifying guest disk
images. Amongst the things this is good for: making batch
configuration changes to guests, viewing and editing files inside
guests, getting disk used/free statistics (see also: virt-df),
migrating between virtualization systems (see also: virt-p2v),
performing partial backups, performing partial guest clones,
cloning guests and changing registry/UUID/hostname info, and
much else besides.

libguestfs uses Linux kernel and qemu code, and can access any
type of guest filesystem that Linux and qemu can, including but
not limited to: ext2/3/4, btrfs, FAT and NTFS, LVM, many different
disk partition schemes, qcow, qcow2, vmdk.

libguestfs provides ways to enumerate guest storage (eg. partitions,
LVs, what filesystem is in each LV, etc.). It can also run commands
in the context of the guest. Also you can upload and download files
and directories.

libguestfs is a library that can be linked with C and C++ management
programs (or management programs written in OCaml, Perl, Python,
Ruby, Java or Haskell). You can also use it from shell scripts or
the command line.

  Description : Provide CSS based highlighting for source code and similar

 This is a syntax highlighting. It generates an HTML fragment by
 marking up the input string with span tags according the given rules.
Colouring
 or other highlighting is then controlled via CSS. Configuration for particular
source
 languages can be done by subclassing.
 .
 Compared to other source highlighting solutions, this one is light-weight, and
 suitable for use in perl programs.

This package will be maintained by the pkg-perl team.

This ITP is being filed to track a mass packaging of Perl packages needed for a
certain goal.
We are working on packaging dependencies for the new version of
libnet-amazon-s3-perl.

At a later time, I will add the proper information from the ITP template and CC
