Bug#496326: Take over the ITP

2009-06-30 Thread Filip Chabik
I'd love to take over this ITP bug. There's Gwibber package for Debian
already in mentors repository [1].

Bug#534507: ITP: kalternatives -- graphical alternatives system configuration tool

Few days ago, I had a nice talk with Guillem, and he told me that dpkg
developers are working for cleaning up update-alternatives' code, and planning
to convert it to C (along with provide a dpkg library); since the previous are
either happening or planned to be soon, I will avoid to rewrite the parser
twice, but wait for the dpkg library and help testing it, which is what
kalternatives will use (when it is ready, of course).

Would it be acceptable for now?

Bug#533450: ITP: xserver-xorg-video-psb -- Xorg Graphics driver for Intel Poulsbo chipset (GMA 500)

2009-06-30 Thread Scott Gilliland
Kushal,

I started with a Lenny install, and got it up-to-date.

I then added an /etc/apt/sources.list.d/intrepid.list which includes all of
intrepid and intrepid's PPA repositories:

---
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mobile/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main multiverse
universe restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ intrepid main restricted universe
multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ intrepid-security main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ intrepid-updates main restricted
universe multiverse

(plus the deb-src entries, which are not needed)
---

I then used apt-pinning (man apt_preferences for more info) by setting up
my /etc/apt/preferences

---
Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian,a=stable
Pin-Priority: 900

Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian,a=testing
Pin-Priority: 400

Package: *
Pin: release a=intrepid
Pin-Priority: 400

Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian,a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 300

Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian
Pin-Priority: -1
---

This makes apt prefer debian stable when it can, but will allow debian
testing, ubuntu intrepid, and debian unstable if needed.

Then I installed ubuntu's packages for the chipset:
libgl1-mesa-dri-psb
libdrm-poulsbo1
psb-firmware
psb-modules
xpsb-glx
xserver-xorg-video-psb

The big catch was that installing xserver-xorg-video-psb required installing
all of xorg from the ubuntu repositories. Thus, I have a debian lenny system,
ubuntu intrepid's xorg (and some libs), and ubuntu intrepid PPA's
xorg-video-psb

Most of the needed packages seem to be easy enough to get moves over to
debian, but what we really seem to need is xserver-xorg-video-psb to be built
against debian's xorg.

Also, I advise using a tool like aptitude to line up package changes; using
apt straight may be a bit tedious.

Good luck,
Scott Gilliland

Yes, it seems that if I try to install Xorg from Lenny it, it tries to remove
the psb packages and vice versa. I don't know enough about Xorg system, but I
am ready to spare some time to get the psb packages working in Debian. If there
is some sort of similar example from the past on how to port packages from
Ubuntu to Debian, I can give it a shot.

Description : netfilter/iptables module to identify peer-to-peer
(P2P) traffic

From the web page:

The goal of the IPP2P project is to identify peer-to-peer (P2P) data
in IP traffic. For this purpose we extended the iptables/netfilter
architecture by a new matching module. Thereby IPP2P integrates itself
easily into existing Linux firewalls and it's functionality can be
used by adding appropriate filter rules.
IPP2P uses suitable search patterns to identify P2P traffic thus
allowing the reliable identifcation of traffic belonging to many P2P
networks. Once identified one may handle P2P traffic in different ways
- dropping such traffic, putting into low priority classes or shaping
to a given bandwidth limit is possible. Reducing costs, freeing
network ressources and therefore improving network performance is
often the result of using IPP2P.

I am closing this bug since ipp2p is included in xtables-addons (that is
available on Debian).

Thank you.

Nelson

Bug#529695: O: abcde -- A Better CD Encoder

2009-06-30 Thread Colin Tuckley
I spotted this bug while looking through the wnpp lists.

The package certainly looks very un-maintained with approx 70 bugs.

I'm interested in adopting it.

I took a look at upstream which now seems to be a project on code.google.com
run by "djmooch" and which is active with a new version available.

There is a changelog update in the upstream svn repro for a Debian version:

abcde (2.3.99.7-1) unstable; urgency=low
Jesus Climent Sun, 22 Feb 2009 13:30:02 +

However it looks like this never got uploaded or maybe it was rejected for
some reason.

Looking in db.d.o for Jesus Climent, he hasn't been seen since Sept 2008,
his web site http://www.pumuki.org/ seems to be dead and Mario said he isn't
answering email.

I will try emailing him and will also ask upstream if they have had any
contact with him but it does look like he's MIA.

Colin

Bug#535224: ITP: libnetdude -- framework to netdude program

2009-06-30 Thread Joao Eriberto Mota Filho
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Joao Eriberto Mota Filho

* Package name: libnetdude
  Version : 0.11
  Upstream Author : Christian Kreibich
* URL : http://netdude.sourceforge.net
* License : specific
Description : framework to netdude program

libnetdude is the base of the netdude program. It is the core of the framework
and the place where the packet manipulations are performed. It allows you to
implement trace file manipulations at a much higher level of abstraction than
code written directly on top of the pcap library. It also provides a
command-line interface that directly lets you script all packet-mangling
capabilities provided by the set of plugins you have installed. Libnetdude's
 features include:

 * Convenient abstractions for trace files, trace parts & areas, packets,
   filters, and packet iterators.
 * Ability to edit arbitrarily large traces (subject to the large-file size
limit on your OS). Traces are navigated using timestamps and fractional
   offsets.
 * Ability to insert and delete packets.
 * Flexible plugin architecture: Protocol plugins allow interpretation of
arbitrary protocol data. Feature plugins provide helpful building blocks
(like anonymizers, statistical analyzers, demultiplexers, etc.) in a reusable
   fashion.
 * Structured packet data. Raw packet data is interpreted as much as the
installed protocol plugins permit it to. No need to write your own protocol
   analyzer any more.
 * Familiar tcpdump output: libnetdude can associate a tcpdump process with each
trace file, providing tcpdump's familiar output for individual packets. The
GUI application is making extensive use of this.

Bug#463807: RFH: wxwidgets2.8 -- help for wxwidgets2.8 is appreciated

2009-06-30 Thread Ryan Niebur
I will help with this, in hopes that a new version will be more stable
and fix the libwx-perl FTBFS bugs. Padre upstream strongly recommends
(by not allowing installation with older versions, unless we patch the
build system, which is what we did) the next version of wxwidgets
after what we have, because the version we have is "buggy".

Despite my only exposure to wxwidgets being through the Perl bindings,
and only using them since last week, I will be willing to work on this
package in the long term to keep it in shape for Padre.

I can probably help with RC bug fixing, upgrading to new upstream
versions, reviewing and applying patches, fixing trivial bugs,
forwarding/triaging bugs, and keeping the packaging in good shape, but
probably won't be very helpful for anything that requires a lot of
knowledge of wxwidgets, C++, or Python, since I don't know these.

Adeodato, may I start working and commit to the Git repository?
