Bug#522638: ITP: docsis -- Encode/Decode DOCSIS configuration files

2009-08-08 Thread Eduardo Ferro
Hi Francisco José.

Can you send me any details about the problems you have running the app in a
64b system. Is a compiling problem, or a problem executing the program.
Please send the info about the problem to this debian bug, and I'll try to
fix it asap.

BTW I contacted with the author, Cornel Ciocirlan, and he is developing for
a new version, with Docsis 3.0 support. He said that he will relase this new
version soon... I sent some patches and bugfixes for the new version.

Thanks in advance for the 64bit bug report.

Best regards

Oh yes, you're right, I didn't notice there were already preliminary
packages for new at-spi, since they are just released recently.
I'm terribly sorry to duplicate your jobs. I think I should close this

Sorry again, please ignore my reports. :)

Bug#540480: Review of the copyright file of game-music-emu_0.5.5-1.dsc.

2009-08-08 Thread Charles Plessy
user debian-le...@lists.debian.org
usertags 540480 one-copyright-review
thanks

Dear Sebastian,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of the NEW queue I
had a look at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the
following wiki page:

http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

I have found that the three following files have more a more permissive license
than the LGPL:

./demo/Wave_Writer.cpp
./player/Audio_Scope.cpp
./player/Music_Player.cpp

/* Copyright (C) 2005-2006 by Shay Green. Permission is hereby granted, free of
charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software module and associated
documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without
restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify,
merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and
to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the
following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice
shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. THE
SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR
COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER
IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN
CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE. */

This will probably be detected by our archive administrators. I do not know if
it will make them reject your package, but to play safe and save their time, do
not hesitate to reupload a corrected version. This will not make it move
backwards in the queue.

Have a nice day,

Dear Joshua and Gunnar,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of NEW I had a look
at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the following
wiki page: http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

Unfortunately, you missed the license of the documentation, which is
distributed under the Create Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license. It
has been written that this license is not compatible with the DFSG, so it may
be worthwile contacting the author and suggesting him to upgrade it to version
3.0, which is accepted by our archive administrators.

Description : C++ Standard Template Library (STL) for extra large datasets

Stxxl provides an STL replacement using an abstraction layer to
storage devices to allow for the optimal layout of data structures. This
allows for multi-terabyte datasets to be held and manipulated in standard
C++ data structures, whilst abstracting the complexity of managing this
behaviour efficiently. stxxl utilises multi-disk I/O to speed up
I/O bound calculations. STXXL has been developed at the University
 of Karlsruhe.

Bug#540247: abi-compliance-checker 1.1-1, manpage patches and tweaks

2009-08-08 Thread Paul Sladen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello Ryan et al,

I ended up packaging this aswell, but you bet me to a submission by a clear
18 hours.   I've cloned your git tree of the package and tweaked it;
I wonder if you'd be interested in reviewing/accepting the patches.

The main one is switching to a hand-written and formatted manpage which I
spent a little while writing and so would be interested to see integrated.
git shortlog of the changes I'm offering shows:

  .gitignore: *~
  set unreleased 1.1-2
  Include handwritten manpage
  Use install -T 0755 and dh_installdirs
debian/watch: Case insentisve match (MediaWiki CamelCasing)
  debian/copyright:
add email address for upstream maintainer
Copyedit Description: in control/break up paragraphs
expand RAS to Russian Academy of Sciences in manpage
  keep lintian happy
  debian/control: further grammar fix
debian/changelog: NMU as 1.1-1.1 if required

I've kept every little change as separate commits so you can pick and choose
easily; on the (small) off-chance that you're happy with the whole lot
as-is, the last commit is an NMU boilder plate, allowing it to be
signed+sponsored as-is---drop that if you need to cherry pick.

Libvncserver contains headers and static libraries to write your own
VNC server. In this package, x11vnc, a VNC server which uses your
current X11 session is provided.

With x11vnc you can export your currently running X11 session to any
VNC client. You do not have to launch another session as the regular VNC
server does. So it's very useful, if you want to move to another computer
without having to log out, or to help a distant colleague to solve a problem
with their desktop.

STXXL is an implementation of the C++ standard template library STL for
external memory (out-of-core) computations, i.e., STXXL implements
containers and algorithms that can process huge volumes of data that
only fit on disks. While the compatibility to the STL supports ease of
use and compatibility with existing applications, another design
priority is high performance.

There's no public release yet of 0.0.2 or whatever revision we're about to use.
I'd like to get the versioning done right first before I submit a package for

next time, please file an ITP *before* you start packaging, this is
the purpose of them -- to prevent duplicate work.

I'll look at the rest of your email later.

Cheers,

UMLet is a UML tool aimed at providing a fast way of drawing
UML diagrams. UML elements are modified using text input instead
of pop-up dialogs. Elements can be modified and used as
templates; this way, users can easily tailor UMLet to their
modeling needs. UMLet supports a variety of UML diagram types:
class diagrams, use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, state
diagrams, deployment diagrams, activity diagrams, etc.
 .
UMLet can only be used for drawing UML diagrams, it does not
support code export or the XMI format. UMLet allows to export
 diagrams as images or PDF.

Bug#540545: ITP: grads -- Grid Analysis and Display System for earth science data

2009-08-08 Thread Alastair McKinstry
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Alastair McKinstry

* Package name: grads
  Version : 2.0
Upstream Author : NASA Advanced Information Systems Research Program
* URL : http://www.iges.org/grads/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Grid Analysis and Display System for earth science data

The Grid Analysis and Display System (GrADS) is an interactive desktop tool
that is used for easy access, manipulation, and visualization of earth
science data. The format of the data may be either binary, GRIB, NetCDF, or
HDF-SDS (Scientific Data Sets). GrADS has been implemented worldwide on a
variety of commonly used operating systems and is freely distributed over the
Internet.

GrADS uses a 4-Dimensional data environment: longitude, latitude, vertical
level, and time. Data sets are placed within the 4-D space by use of a data
descriptor file. GrADS interprets station data as well as gridded data, and the
grids may be regular, non-linearly spaced, gaussian, or of variable
resolution. Data from different data sets may be graphically overlaid, with
correct spatial and time registration. Operations are executed
interactively by entering FORTRAN-like expressions at the command line. A rich
set of built-in functions are provided, but users may also add their own
functions as external routines written in any programming language.

Data may be displayed using a variety of graphical techniques: line and bar
graphs, scatter plots, smoothed contours, shaded contours, streamlines,
wind vectors, grid boxes, shaded grid boxes, and station model plots. Graphics
may be output in PostScript or image formats. GrADS provides
geophysically intuitive defaults, but the user has the option to control all
aspects of graphics output.

GrADS has a programmable interface (scripting language) that allows for
sophisticated analysis and display applications. Use scripts to display buttons
and dropmenus as well as graphics, and then take action based on user
point-and-clicks. GrADS can be run in batch mode, and the scripting language
facilitates using GrADS to do long overnight batch jobs.

Hi,
thanks for looking at this but debian/copyright lists this already. Just
take a look at the very bottom of the file, I say there the demo/* and
player/* are MIT/X11 licensed. Am I missing something here?

Description: YAML parser kit -- development files
Syck is a simple YAML parser kit.
 .
YAML(tm) (rhymes with 'camel') is a straightforward machine parsable
data serialization format designed for human readability and
interaction with scripting languages such as Perl and Python. YAML is
optimized for data serialization, formatted dumping, configuration
files, log files, Internet messaging and filtering. This specification
describes the YAML information model and serialization format. Together
with the Unicode standard for characters, it provides all the
information necessary to understand YAML Version 1.0 and construct
 computer programs to process it.
 .
The whole point of Syck is to make parsing and emitting YAML very
simple for scripting languages through C bindings. It doesn't strive
to be a pull parser or very extendible. It just is concerned with
loading a YAML document into a C structure which can be easily
translated into a scripting language's internal native data type.
 .
This package contains headers, and the static library to be included in
your programs or to build bindings from.

Hi!

It seems to me, that the project is upstream dead and has a realy low
popcon value. Maybe it should be removed?

Yours sincerely,

Description: Store and restore metadata from a filesystem
metastore is a tool to store the metadata of files/directories/links in
a file
tree to a separate file and to later compare and apply the stored
metadata to
 said file tree.
 .
The tool was written as a supplement to git which does not store all
metadata,
making it unsuitable for e.g. storing /etc in a repo. metastore could
also be
helpful if you want to create a tarball of a file tree and make sure that
"everything" (e.g. xattrs, mtime, owner, group) is stored along with
the files.

Description: tiny/turbo/throttling HTTP server
thttpd is a small, fast secure webserver. It features CGI support,
URL-traffic-based throttling and basic authentication. thttpd has a
very small
memory footprint as it only forks itself in order to execute CGI
scripts. It is
designed to be as fast as fully featured web-servers and it performs
extremely
 well under high load.
 .
This package contains the thttpd server. For thttpd support programs
see the
 thttpd-util package.

Description: library for assembly code compilation at runtime
GNU lightning is a library to aid in making portable programs that compile
assembly code at run time. It produces very fast code, making it ideal for
Just-In-Time compilers, and it abstracts over the target CPU, as it
exposes to
the clients a standardized RISC instruction set inspired by the MIPS
and SPARC
 chips.
 .
Lightning currently supports the i386, powerpc and sparc architectures.

Description: GNU Spell, a clone of Unix `spell'
GNU Spell is a spell checking program which prints each misspelled word
on a
line of its own. It is designed as a clone of the standard Unix `spell'
program, and implemented as a wrapper for Ispell. Spell accepts as its
arguments a list of files to read from. Within that list, the magical
file name
`-' causes Spell to read from standard input. In addition, when called
with no
file name arguments, Spell assumes that it should process standard input.

This is a bunch of utilities for virtualization hosts. All except
xenscreen are
using xenstore and thus are xen-specific.
 .
  * xenscreen - attach xen domain consoles to screen windows.
  * xenlog - Log xenstore activity to stdout.
  * xenstore - gtk xenstore browser.
  * xenwatch - list running domains with some properties, allow
connecting to
text and graphical (vnc) consoles.
