Description: LaTeX class for presentations
chaksem is a LaTeX2e class for slides. Based on seminar, it adds
support for running footers as well as itemised and numbered lists,
with a layout that fits nicely to the sans serif font used for text.
There is support for overlays, which includes the ability to accumulate
text and images on the slides for online presentations. Printable
lecture notes with collapsed overlays are also able to be generated from
 this class.

Description: development libraries and headers for GLUT
GLUT (as in ``gluttony'') is a window system independent toolkit for
writing OpenGL programs. It implements a simple windowing API, which
makes life considerably easier when learning about and exploring OpenGL
 programming.

GLUT is designed for constructing small to medium sized OpenGL programs,
however it is not a full-featured toolkit, so large applications requiring
sophisticated user interfaces are better off using native window system
 toolkits like GTK or Motif.

The GLE Tubing and Extrusion library is an extension to OpenGL for drawing
tubing and extrusions, including surfaces of revolution, sweeps, tubes,

is the most comprehensive documentation for LTSP, and currently generates a PDF
and HTML version, as well as a manpage for lts.conf, a commonly used LTSP

it seems important to have as a package, so the version of the documentation
that ships with a given Debian release will be able to document the versions of
LTSP shipped in that same release, as online documentation may diverge, which
can be confusing for users.

Bug#543413: RFA: apt-rpm

2009-08-24 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I haven't actively used this package in a great while, and bug #533164 looks
too complicated for me to spend time on now. Upstream has been issuing
development snapshots once in a while, but no stable release, so I don't know
where this is going. I think the package is still useful, although now with
yum the pressure to set up apt on rpm-based systems is decreased.

I am somehow also not happy with a situation where any given exim
installation would end linked dynamically (indirectly) against at least
two full blown ssl libraries (OpenSSL or GnuTLS for STARTTLS, polarssl
for DKIM).

On a sidenote, is the cause for this ITP just exim or is general
interest in this library?

> AFAICT pdkim "borrows" the code needed to implement DKIM (i.e. RSA, SHA-1

Afaiui this "gnulib style" usage of polarssl by picking a handful of
files is supported upstream.
http://polarssl.org/?page=features
| All symmetric and hashing algorithms are not coupled to any other file
| and can thus be easily integrated into existing projects.

> but I haven't checked whether Tom has made any modifications to it.

pdkim.(c|h) is new code, all the rest is basically unmodified from
polarssl (stripped out selftest, disabled #include "polarssl/config.h"
+ check for #if defined(POLARSSL_), except for rsa.(h|c).

The latter contains the two newly written functions
rsa_parse_public_key and rsa_parse_key which require asn1_get_tag and
asn1_get_mpi. Sadly these asn_... functions are not (yet?) part of
polarssl's public API. (They are part of x509parse.c). Which is why
Tom has copied their sourcecode into rsa.(h|c).

I agree that all this should at least be separared clearly (like
gnulib/) in the pdkim distributions, be it just for easy updates.

  Description : a loop-free distance-vector routing protocol

Babel is a distance-vector routing protocol for IPv6 and IPv4 with
fast convergence properties. It was designed to be robust and
efficient on both wireless mesh networks and classical wired networks.
Babel has extremely modest memory and CPU requirements. Unlike most
routing protocols, which route either IPv4 or IPv6 but not both at the
same time, Babel is a hybrid IPv6 and IPv4 protocol: a single update
packet can carry both IPv6 and IPv4 routes (this is similar to how
multi-protocol BGP works). This makes Babel particularly efficient on
 dual (IPv6 and IPv4) networks.

routing, for use of the OLSR protocol, or for use of the Babel
protocol. AHCP is extensible, so adding support for other routing

Cooka is a very simple image viewer written in C#
and compiled with Mono framework. The application is really essential:
it has a file system browser in order to select the folder containing
images to display;
a thumbs viewer useful to see a preview of the images within the
selected folder and some information
like image’s name, size and dimension; and finally a “view” area used to
display the selected image.
In order to handle images and to enhance image viewing, Cooka provides a
simple toolbar that
allows users perform some basic operation such as rotate, zoom, set as
background.

Bug#543166: ITP: atheist -- A general purpose command-line testing tool.

2009-08-24 Thread Cleto Martin Angelina
Atheist is a command-line based tool for program testing. It provides a
feature set unrivaled by any other program testing (not unit testing) tool
in Debian. With a wide and extensible library the user may prepare the test
environment, check conditions after or before tests, launch helper daemons,
execute tests remotely and much more. It is written in python and the main
idea is that programmers may test their programs in a black-box way. Test
specifications may be passed to atheist (or it looks for them in a concrete
directory) which executes all of them and shows detailed statistics at the
end of the execution.

The atheist API is composed by test entities that can be used by the user.
For instance, Condition objects represent any situation that must be occur
at a time and may be composed with other Conditions. A Test object has many
useful attributes like the command to execute, terminate signal expected,
pre and post conditions, maximum time of execution, become a test
'daemonizable'... With a few test files it is possible to create complex and
sophisticated program tests.

There is a manual written by using python-sphinx and it will be included in
the package.

I didn't know of vidir. It seems actually similar. However, vidir also
allows deletion of files and directories. immv is a safer alternative if
one really only wants to rename files.

Doesn't vidir from moreutils provide exactly the same functionality already?

Bug#509671: O: oidentd -- replacement ident daemon

2009-08-24 Thread Stefan Bauer
Hi,

i use oidentd for a bunch of bouncer users on my shells, so i want to
adopt it. Apparently there will be no newer versions as the last one
was from 2006 but the daemon is in a good shape, hence i want to take
it.

As i'm new to the debian package management i might need some assistance
if i step in problems.

Regards

Stefan

Owner: Marco Herrn

* Package name: immv

  Upstream Author : Marco Herrn
* URL : http://immv.berlios.de/

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Rename multiple files interactively

immv allows to rename multiple files at once by providing an editor with
the names of the given files. This allows to use sophisticated features of
this editor (for example vim) to efficiently rename a whole bunch of files.

Bug#543320: ITP: dnsruby -- a DNS client library

2009-08-24 Thread Ondřej Surý
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Ondřej Surý"

* Package name: dnsruby
  Version : 1.35
  Upstream Author : Alex D.
* URL : http://rubyforge.org/projects/dnsruby/
* License : Apache Software License
  Programming Lang: Ruby
Description : a DNS client library

Dnsruby is a pure Ruby DNS client library which implements a stub
resolver. It aims to comply with all DNS RFCs, including DNSSEC NSEC3
 support.
 .
Dnsruby presents a new API for DNS. It is based on Ruby's core resolv.rb
Resolv API, but has been much extended to provide a complete DNS
 implementation.
 .
Dnsruby runs a single I/O thread to handle all concurrent queries. It is
therefore suitable for high volume DNS applications.
