Do you have a documentation about this "secure mode"?
What does it provide? How does it work?

Bug#433325: RFA: kbedic -- K Bulgarian/English Dictionary

Many thanks for your interest.

I would say yes; if the RFA bug is open, one can safely assume that.

Here are the Bulgarian-related packages in Debian:

bgoffice -- this is the most important one, needs lots of care
cbedic-- was renamed upstream to cbgoffice
kbedic-- was renamed upstream to kbgoffice
gbgoffice -- only this one is properly maintained, along with
 bgoffice-computer-terms

kbedic/cbedic need to renamed, made to work with dictionaries installed
in multiple paths (like gbgoffice), and moved to main (as
bgoffice-computer-terms is now in Debian). Note that at some point
kbedic should be ported to KDE4, as I anticipate KDE3 will be removed
from Debian, probably in squeeze+1. Upstream hasn't touched it for
years, AFAIK, although he's still reachable and probably willing to help
with small things.

Unfortunately I don't have spare time to lend a hand for the time being,
although I'd wish I could take over bgoffice and cbedic/cbgoffice.

If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to ask on
debian-addons-bg-maintain...@openfmi.net -- the folks who worked and/or
work on this stuff are there.

In fact, I do not use hg anymore (or very little). So I'm not really
interested in packaging this software anymore. Feel free to take over
this ITP if you want. I did not work on the packaging so you will have
to package it from scratch.

Windows has so many viruses, worms and trojans, is it really wise to

There is already a package for fop:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/fop

Maybe all you want is make it more suitable to be used by other packages?

Yes, natbraille will need fop.jar.

It really does not make any big difference whether you store user,
host or name databases in LDAP, Registry (binary files), text files in
/etc or whatever, it is just a storage, though being realized by
different means; if you put stuff in there, you will certainly need
some ways to clean it. AIX for instance uses LDAP-based Registry if I
remember correctly.

What really matters is what you put to run in kernel space. Having
that said, I don't think I will run such a "full-featured" kernel ever
;-)

Bug#543678: Woops!

2009-09-01 Thread Barak A. Pearlmutter
Woops! I didn't see your ITP: minidjvu until I'd packaged minidjvu
myself. Was about to dupload it, and push my repo into debian
git/collab-maint, when I noticed your ITP.

So instead I've pushed my debianized repo to
 git://github.com/barak/minidjvu.git
It is lintian clean etc, looks good to go.

At this point I see a couple options. I can:

 (a) throw away my debianized version and leave everything to you
 (b) give you what I've done (see above) but leave everything to you
 (c) dupload my version and be sole maintainer (i.e., yours is
 discarded)
 (d) dupload my version but assume you'll take over as maintainer
 (e) dupload my version with you listed as co-maintainer

I'm willing to do any of the above, or something else; your decision.

Cheers,

--Barak.

Description : the Ad-Hoc Configuration Protocol

AHCP is an autoconfiguration protocol for IPv6 and dual-stack
IPv6/IPv4 networks designed to be used in place of router discovery
and DHCP on networks where it is difficult or impossible to configure
a server within every link-layer broadcast domain, for example mobile
ad-hoc networks. AHCP will automatically configure the IPv6 prefix, an
IPv4 address for every host, the routing protocol, the DNS server and
the NTP server. It is currently able to configure hosts for static
routing, for use of the OLSR protocol, or for use of the Babel
protocol. AHCP is extensible, so adding support for other routing
 protocols should be easy.

This is a pressure sensitive Wacom table paint program. It comes
with a large brush collection including
charcoal and ink to emulate real media, but the highly configurable brush
engine allows you to experiment with your own brushes and with
 not-quite-natural painting.

Description: traceroute implementation using TCP packets
The more traditional traceroute(8) sends out either UDP or ICMP ECHO packets
with a TTL of one, and increments the TTL until the destination has been
reached. By printing the gateways that generate ICMP time exceeded messages
along the way, it is able to determine the path packets are taking to reach the
 destination.
 .
The problem is that with the widespread use of firewalls on the modern
Internet, many of the packets that traceroute(8) sends out end up being
filtered, making it impossible to completely trace the path to the destination.
However, in many cases, these firewalls will permit inbound TCP packets to
specific ports that hosts sitting behind the firewall are listening for
connections on. By sending out TCP SYN packets instead of UDP or ICMP ECHO
packets, tcptraceroute is able to bypass the most common firewall filters.

  Description : a loop-free distance-vector routing protocol

Babel is a distance-vector routing protocol for IPv6 and IPv4 with
fast convergence properties. It was designed to be robust and
efficient on both wireless mesh networks and classical wired networks.
Babel has extremely modest memory and CPU requirements. Unlike most
routing protocols, which route either IPv4 or IPv6 but not both at the
same time, Babel is a hybrid IPv6 and IPv4 protocol: a single update
packet can carry both IPv6 and IPv4 routes (this is similar to how
multi-protocol BGP works). This makes Babel particularly efficient on
 dual (IPv6 and IPv4) networks.

Bug#543678: Woops!

2009-09-01 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Barak A. Pearlmutter , 2009-09-01, 15:32:

Feel free to take over this ITP, I don't mind.

Here are some things that might be worth fixing before upload:

- Because upstream Makefile has CFLAGS hard-coded, your package seems to
violate Debian Policy 4.9.1.

- It would be very nice if a shared library were provided. (Of course,
this should be discussed with upstream.)

Good catch, thanks. Will fix.

Algorithm::IncludeExclude lets one define a tree of include/exclude rules

Bug#544615: ITP: ikarus -- Native code compiler for R6RS Scheme

2009-09-01 Thread Andreas Rottmann
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Rottmann

* Package name: ikarus
  Version : 0.0.3+bzr1851
  Upstream Author : Abdulaziz Ghuloum
* URL : http://ikarus-scheme.org/
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: Scheme, C
Description : Native code compiler for R6RS Scheme

Ikarus Scheme is an optimizing incremental native-code compiler
for Scheme as specified in the Revised^6 Report on the Algorithmic
 Language Scheme (R6RS).

I intend to package this from bzr (and for experimental) for the time
being, as the last release is quite old (February 2008), and the code
from bzr has many bug fixes and added features.

This package provides constraint routines for Data::FormValidator for dealing
with dates and times. It provides an easy mechanism for validating dates of
any format (using strptime(3)) and transforming those dates (as long as you
'untaint' the fields) into valid DateTime objects, or into strings that would
be properly formatted for various database engines.

Closing this bug without uploading because
Data::FormValidator::Constraints::DateTime is no longer required by

missing copyright information, so it is unacceptable for Debian in its
current state.

Package: wnpp

Hi,

this package is in good shape. I'm orphaning it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see

instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Some information about this package:

Description: remote incremental backup
rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another, possibly over a
network. The
target directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse
diffs are stored in a special subdirectory of that target directory, so
you can
still recover files lost some time ago. The idea is to combine the best
features of a mirror and an incremental backup. rdiff-backup also preserves
subdirectories, hard links, dev files, permissions, uid/gid ownership,
modification times, extended attributes, acls, and resource forks.
 .
Also, rdiff-backup can operate in a bandwidth efficient manner over a pipe,
like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup and ssh to securely back a
hard drive
up to a remote location, and only the differences will be transmitted.
Finally,
rdiff-backup is easy to use and settings have sensible defaults.

Bug#495105: ITP: scidavis

2009-09-01 Thread Adrian Glaubitz
Hello,

what is the current status of this ITP? Is it still active? I would
suggest taking the packages from Burkhard Bunk [1] who has created
Debian packages for Etch and Lenny to be provided on the upstream
website [2]. I will CC him this mail, maybe someone can sponsor his
packages in case he is not a Debian developer himself.

Bug#536320: adoption conky package

The RC bug was withdrawn. However, conky version 1.7.2 has now been
released. Please try to package it.

If you have no time to work on the package, I will re-title the bug to
RFA and do the basic packaging of 1.7.2 just to keep conky going in
Debian.

Bug#544637: ITP: joptsimple -- Command line parsing java library

2009-09-01 Thread Samuel Thibault
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Samuel Thibault

* Package name: joptsimple
  Version : 3.1
Upstream Author : Paul R. Holser
* URL : http://jopt-simple.sourceforge.net/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : Command line parsing java library

JOpt Simple is a Java library for parsing command line options, such as
those you might pass to an invocation of javac.

In the interest of striving for simplicity, as closely as possible JOpt
Simple attempts to honor the command line option syntaxes of POSIX
getopt() and GNU getopt_long() . It also aims to make option parser
configuration and retrieval of options and their arguments simple and
expressive, without being overly clever.

It is known to be simpler of use and cleaner than all other
alternatives.

please don't retitle it back to an RFA. if it comes to the point where
Nikolas is not going to be adopting it, set the owner back to me, I
will. However, I still think it would be much better if Nikolas adopts
it, since he's a conky developer.

Bug#544399: ITP: rakudo -- implementation of Perl 6 for Parrot

2009-09-01 Thread Allison Randal

Ryan Niebur wrote:

ya. preparing an experimental upload would be great. Do you want to
wait for the September release or package the SVN version?

Let's wait for the releases. Parrot and Rakudo are carefully sync'd at
release points, but there's no guarantee of compatibility at random
SVN/git revisions.

adding experimental to the sources.list and running "apt-get install
-t experimental rakudo" is easier than downloading .debs from alioth,
and it means that it's more official (because it's actually in Debian
repos). other than that, I don't see the difference.

I talked some with Patrick about plans for Rakudo releases. It sounds
like it'll be useful to have the 1.6 (maybe 1.8) and 2.3 releases of
Parrot in experimental. Rakudo packages could be in experimental around
Parrot 1.6, (maybe 1.8,) 2.0 (January), and 2.3 (April), then aim for
Rakudo in Debian unstable around Parrot 2.6 (July).
