Bug#471094: ITA: mantis

2009-10-19 Thread Patrick Schoenfeld
Hi,

 Hi Olivier and Patrick,

I'm interesting to ITA mantis cause I think it's a good application (I
used it from a very long time) and when I saw Patrick O request I feel
that it was important to continue with his hard work..

just saw your ITA on mantis. I'm happy to hear someone is interested in
taking it over. Feel free to work on it as you like. But don't expect me
to do something in the near future anyway ;)

Just some hints to get you started:
The current packaging is in git. The SVN repository is out-of-date
and has just been kept there, because debcheckout would otherwise
fail on non-sid/testing machines.

BTW, if you are asking for my personal skills, I'm a programmer and I'm
sure I would not have problems with the source code :-)

Cool. What I suggest to you is to work close with Gianluca Sforna,
who is working upstream and is also the package maintainer for Fedora.
He might have similar problems as you and it might be possible to
use synergy effects. Basically he is good to work with, so :)
You should subscribe to the mantisbt-dev list, because important
discussions are taking place there and it doesn't accept mails
from unsubscribed persons, unfortunately. Its also wise to get
an account for the bug tracker and ask the mantis developers to
get you developer access, because this way you can keep track
on not-yet-disclosed-security-bugs.

Have fun with the package.. best Regards,
Patrick

Hello,

I was thinking about using FormAlchemy in one of my project at work but
finally we end up using Toscawidgets. Therefore, it would be better if
someone else actually using FormAlchemy maintains it.

The package is already available in DPMT SVN repository[0], except that
the new upstream release has to be packaged. Moreover, initially, the
sources used to include Tempita Python module, but this is not the case
anymore[1]. Thus, the package is almost ready for upload.

Bug#409849: First rough draft of an afni Debian package

2009-10-19 Thread Michael Hanke
A first (very rough) draft of a Debian package for AFNI is now available
at:

  http://neuro.debian.net/pkgs/afni.html

It is not yet ready for Debian and is also lacking a lot of the
necessary documentation, but it should somewhat work.

Please install 'afni' and look at 'man afni'.

*ANY* comment or bugreport is very much appreciated. Please post to this
ITP bug.

This package is still a bit large, due to a lot of code duplication in
AFNI itself. I already got a patch that would help with it and I will be
looking into it over the next couple of days.

I would very much like to get recommendations for a sane default
configuration for AFNI on Debian.

I will push the AFNI packaging to git.debian.org shortly (will drop a
note here, when it is done).

There is also the need to package the AFNI atlas data. I have a draft
package already that I will also publish shortly. Just have to make sure
that I do not run into serious licensing trouble...

Stay tuned,

Michael

Bug#551629: ITP: ui-auto -- A set of shell tools to manage software project development

2009-10-19 Thread Stephan Sürken
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Stephan Sürken abs...@debian.org

* Package name: ui-auto
  Version : 1.1.9
Upstream Author : Stephan Sürken abs...@debian.org
* URL : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ui-auto/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Shell
Description : A set of shell tools to manage software project development

1. Release automation

First of all, there is support for automation of software
release around the 'ui-auto-release' tool; it currently (Oct
2009) supports the build systems autotools and cmake and the
version control systems cvs, svn and git. Its basic goal is to
automate the reoccurring administrative duties around software
releases (like NEWS/ChangeLog files, VC tagging, uploading,
...). It also has a non-interactive mode that makes it suitable
for automated snaphot builds from cron, and a special Debian
mode to automate Debian package builds.

Tools: ui-auto-release, ui-auto-ubs, ui-auto-uvc, ui-auto-release-multi

2. Development help

Secondly, there is also a set of tools to help develop from VC
checkouts (simply via environment variables). This is useful if
you develop on several projects at the same time having
inter-dependencies.

Tools: ui-auto-env, ui-auto-shell, ui-auto-update

3. cmake and autotools library

There is small library for autotools (m4 macros) and cmake
(tests) to avoid redundancies per project for ui-auto
project. Using any of these is totally optional, though.

  Programming Lang: Python and Javascript
Description : Python-to-Javascript compiler and AJAX-based Web Widget
library

Pyjamas is a port of Google's Web Toolkit to Python. It comprises a
stand-alone python-to-javascript compiler (pyjs.py) and a comprehensive
AJAX Widget library and API.

Pyjamas turns Web development into Desktop development. The Widget API
is very similar to that of pyqt4 and pygtk2, except that it is easier
to use, easier to develop custom widgets for, and is more powerful and
flexible.

The AJAX Widget library adapts itself to different platforms, and
supports IE6, IE7, Mozilla/Netscape, Firefox, Opera and Safari. All
the tricks that you'd normally be exposed to when doing AJAX and
Javascript programming are entirely taken care of, and hidden from
you, allowing you to concentrate on developing your application.

2009-10-19 Thread Eric Evans

retitle 510497 ITP: suds -- lightweight SOAP client for Python
owner 510497 eev...@debian.org
thanks

Package name: python-suds
Version : 0.3.6
Upstream Author : Jeff Ortel jor...@redhat.com
URL : https://fedorahosted.org/suds/
License : LGPL
Programming Lang: Python
Description : lightweight SOAP client for Python
Suds is a Python SOAP web services client library. It leverages Python
meta programming to provide an intuative API for consuming web services.
Objectification of types defined in the WSDL is provided without class
generation. Programmers rarely need to read the WSDL since services and
WSDL based objects can be easily inspected. Supports pluggable soap
 bindings.

This description is taken from the Fedora RPM and needs some work
(suggestions welcome).

Upstream Author : Robert Krimen rkri...@cpan.org
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Config-JFDI/
* License : Artistic | GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Perl module to load any configuration files
Config::JFDI scans a directory for files matching a certain name. If such a
file is found, and it matches an extension that Config::Any can read, then
the configuration from that file will be loaded. It also looks for special
files that end with a _local suffix, which take precedence over any other
configuration files. The precedence takes place by merging the local config
with the standard file using Hash::Merge::Simple (libhash-merge-simple-perl).
 .
Essentially, this is an implementation of Catalyst::Plugin::ConfigLoader that
 exists outside of Catalyst.

* Can I incorporate this program into Debian package?

Yes.
This Yes is NOT a special answer only for Debian.
My recognition on `free software' is not the permanently
constant notion. Therefore I won't define the fixed license
sentences at any moment of my life. All I can say now is I hope
the free software be; freely usable, freely (re-)distributable
without any charge for itself, freely modifiable unless the
original author(=me)'s copyrights are infringed or neglected,
absolutely not responsible to any result from itself. If there
is A license clauses which implies these points above in some

Bug#409849: First rough draft of an afni Debian package

2009-10-19 Thread Judd Storrs
Excellent work! I have two updates.

The first adds an afni-dev package to include headers needed to use libmri
etc as well as to compile AFNI plugins. I wasn't sure where these should
go--this places them inside /usr/include/afni.

The second patch allows either openmotif or lesstif to be used.

Again, wonderful work!

--judd

On Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 11:42 AM, Michael Hanke michael.ha...@gmail.comwrote:

 Stay tuned,

 Michael

Fair enough. As stated before, the only blocker now is an exhaustive
dfsg-compliance and copyright attributions audit.
If one or two people are up for a little bug squashing party, we should be
able to get past it.

is ready if it can help. It would be great to include Distribute in the

Bug#551700: RFP: cups-bjnp -- CUPS backend for Canon printers using the BJNP (USB-over-IP) protocol

2009-10-19 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cups-bjnp
  Version : 0.5.4
Upstream Author : Louis Lagendijk llagend...@users.sourceforge.net
* URL : http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/cups-bjnp/
* License : CUPS License Agreement
  Programming Lang: C
Description : CUPS network printing for Canon printers using the BJNP
protocol
  Suggests: cups-driver-gutenprint

A CUPS backend for the proprietary Canon BJNP (USB over IP) protocol.
This allows printers such as the MX-850 to be used as network
printers.
.
This package does not contain drivers; an appropriate driver must be
found in another package. For example, the CUPS MX-850 works well with
the PIXMA 5300 driver from the cups-driver-gutenprint package.

[There may be a better way to organise the long description; look at
other similar packages such as foo2zjs for ideas.]
