Bug#477806: ITP: djbfft -- extremely fast library for floating-point convolution

2009-12-02 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Am 02.12.2009 03:53, schrieb Dmitrijs Ledkovs:

So are you going to upload gjbfft to debian?

No, not really. I have prepared packages in our SVN repo [1], but I
think it's unreasonable to upload just another library package to
Debian for the sole purpose of fixing a warning in another library.

[1] http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-multimedia/unstable/djbfft/

Because a52dec is out of sync in Ubuntu. We have applied a patch which
simply removes the silly warning No accelerated IMDCT transform
found #441693

So do you want help with gjbfft? Or is there really no point in having
it in the archive.
Or would you consider applying patch to a52dec to remove the warning?

I'd favour actually fixing it, though. Simply removing a warning is
not a method I would consider valid to get rid of it.

BTW do you want help with a52dec? Eg. fix lintian warnings, libtoolize
and convert to DEB5, DEB3, quilt, dh7 or CDBS etc

Well, at the moment I am the only (active) maintainer for a52dec in
Debian, but my interest in the package could be more vivid, I admit.
I'd highly appreciate if you could help out a bit and bring the
package to the newest packaging standards.

Cause I have a little bit of time to do this. (I'll send git format-patches)

That sounds perfect, because the packaging is actually tracked in our
GIT repository at [2] now. To work on the package I highly recommend
you to apply as a member of the pkg-multimedia team on Alioth.

Cheers,
Fabian

Bug#559152: RFP: python-execnet -- perform zero-install bootstrapping into other interpreters

2009-12-02 Thread Adam Schmalhofer
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python-execnet
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : Holger Krekel hol...@merlinux.eu
* URL : http://codespeak.net/execnet/
* License : GPL/MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : perform zero-install bootstrapping into other interpreters
 The execnet package allows to:
 * instantiate local/remote Python Interpreters
 * send code for execution to one or many Interpreters
 * send and receive data through channels
 execnet performs zero-install bootstrapping into other interpreters; package
 installation is only required at the initiating side. execnet enables
 interoperation between CPython 2.4-3.1, Jython 2.5.1, PyPy 1.1 and IronPython
 and works well on Windows, Linux and OSX systems.

python-execnet was part of python-codespeak-lib (and with it debian) before
1.1.0. Then it got split out into its own lib, so it could be used by others.
codespeak-lib (py.test) needs execnet for --looponfailing and distributed
testing. However Chris Lamb (DD of codespeak-lib) isn't interested in packaging
it himself, as he doesn't use execnet (see #559042).

If somebody sponsors me, I'll be willing to package it myself.

Yes, which is why the stack has a sensible division into layers, with no

I think that's unwise given that fd.o is the focal point for most of the

It is a fork of jmathtex. Calixte, who is the author of the fork, contacted
jmathtex before forking and they say
they were just interested by minor changes in the library.
Now, jlatexmath is far more interesting and supports much more of

Bug#554868: Re : Re: Bug#554868: ITP: libjlatexmath-java -- Implementation of LaTeX math mode wrote in Java.

2009-12-02 Thread Calixte.Denizet
Hi,

jlatexmath is different of jmathtex. As said on the project web site, jmathtex
is not an implementation of latex, it provides a way to display mathematical
formulas using a latex syntax (the set of available commands are relatively
small) or mathml syntax.
The aim of jlatexmath is to provide an implementation of latex (only for math
formulas). I suppress all the mathml support, the most of latex commands (and
packages as amsmath too) are available (~800) and add mechanism to write new
macros (in latex or in java). And now, jlatexmath can be used to export in pdf.

Best regards,

Calixte

  Hi,

  How does libjlatexmath relate to jmathtex[1], which is already
 packaged for Debian[2]? Might it be interesting to merge both
 (upstream) projects?
 It is a fork of jmathtex. Calixte, who is the author of the fork,
 contacted jmathtex before forking and they say
 they were just interested by minor changes in the library.
 Now, jlatexmath is far more interesting and supports much more of
 LaTeX !

Bug#506988: ITP: libbnd-java/bnd -- create and diagnose OSGi R4 bundles

2009-12-02 Thread Ludovic Claude
Hello Damien,

I recently changed countries, now I'm back in Paris. I had no time to
work on any project, but I'm planning to start again soon - maybe this
week end. For BND, yes I was working with Peter Kriens, the author of
BND, and I was trying to make build packaging of this library easier
as well as removing non DFSG code from the library.

Ludovic

 Hi

 Hi Niels,

 How is it going with this package? Do you need a hand?

 I've not worked recently on it (just commited some startup script and various

 The package got REJECTED by Torsten Werner ftpmas...@debian.org on
 14/09/2009 with the following reason :
 bnd_0.0.337.1-2_amd64.changes REJECTED

 We believe that the Filter.java file is not DFSG free but the maintainer
 together with the upstream author are working on it.

 the maintainer being Ludovic Claude in this case, I haven't much news...
 Ludovic ?

 Cheers,

Bug#559245: RFP: cvc3 -- automatic theorem prover for Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) problems.

2009-12-02 Thread Ivan Jager
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cvc3
  Version : 2.2
  Upstream Author : Clark Barrett barr...@cs.nyu.edu, Cesare Tinelli
tine...@cs.uiowa.edu
* URL : http://www.cs.nyu.edu/acsys/cvc3/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : CVC3 is an automatic theorem prover for Satisfiability
Modulo Theories (SMT) problems.

From the web page:
CVC3 is an automatic theorem prover for Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT)
problems. It can be used to prove the validity (or, dually, the satisfiability)
of first-order formulas in a large number of built-in logical theories and
their combination.

CVC3 is the last offspring of a series of popular SMT provers, which originated
at Stanford University with the SVC system. In particular, it builds on the
code base of CVC Lite, its most recent predecessor. Its high level design
follows that of the Sammy prover.

CVC3 works with a version of first-order logic with polymorphic types and has a
wide variety of features including:

* several built-in base theories: rational and integer linear arithmetic,
arrays, tuples, records, inductive data types, bit vectors, and equality over
uninterpreted function symbols;
* support for quantifiers;
* an interactive text-based interface;
* a rich C and C++ API for embedding in other systems;
* proof and model generation abilities;
* predicate subtyping;
