Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the otrs2 package. I will help with sponsoring
and comaintaining the package but it needs a new primary maintainer.

The package description is:
OTRS is an Open source Ticket Request System (also well known as
trouble ticket system) with many features to manage customer telephone
calls and e-mails. The system is built to allow your support, sales,
pre-sales, billing, internal IT, helpdesk, etc. department to react
quickly to inbound inquiries. For a detailed documentation see package
 otrs-doc-en or otrs-doc-de.
 .
This package ships version 2 of OTRS. Note that there is no fully
automatic upgrade path from version 1.3, please consult
/usr/share/doc/otrs2/README.Debian.gz for more information about that.

Cheers,
Torsten

Bug#436119: dict-gcide

2009-12-06 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Hi,

I've been using dict-gcide and like it a lot. Wasn't aware until now
that it was orphaned. dict-gcide and dict-wn alone are good enough
softwares to help with dictionary requirements. dict-wn is already
being well maintained by Andreas.
While I am not very well versed with packaging dictionary softwares, I
still would like to adopt this package because:

* I use this package and would like to continue using it.
* I want to learn packaging lexical databases

I am currently OOO on vacation and have limited access to email.
Meanwhile if anyone wants, please add me as the ITA for this package.

Request to Bob Hilliard: If you could share TOI plans for this
package, it would be easier for me to adopt it.

Regards,
Ritesh

Sorry, I forgot to mention it.
It's a dependency of iSpy [1]. The only one dependency which is not
included in Debian yet, so I'm trying to package it.
Further benefits? Upstream surely would be able to answer.
Whenever I got more info, I'd update descriptions.

  Description : simple web framework

Web::Simple provides a bare minimum system for writing web applications that
don't need a full-fledged web framework.

The philosophy of Web::Simple is to keep to an absolute bare minimum, for
everything. It is not designed to be used for large scale applications; the
Catalyst web framework already works very nicely for that and is a far more
mature, well supported piece of software.

However, if you have an application that only does a couple of things, and
want to not have to think about complexities of deployment, then Web::Simple
might be just the thing for you.

Bug#551763: License for FOCAL Interpreter

2009-12-06 Thread Daniel Moerner
Hi David,

I see that you've done the work to write an interpreter for the FOCAL
language. Recently, a request for this package was filed in Debian
GNU/Linux.[1] I'd be interested in packaging your interpreter for
distribution in Debian (and by extension, Ubuntu) because it seems like
a useful piece of history.

However, before doing that, I would need clarification on the license. I
don't see one in the source. Under what conditions is the distribution
of your interpreter permitted?

Some good choices for free licenses may be the GPL or the 3-clause BSD
license, depending on your taste. Normally, Public Domain is not as good
of a choice.[2]

Also, is there a versioning system you use for packaging? Or is this the
final version of FOCAL?

Thanks,
Daniel

Bug#559760: ITP: pesto -- is a library for Python web applications

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Marcelo Jorge Vieira (metal)

* Package name: pesto
  Version : 13
  Upstream Author : Oliver Cope
* URL : http://pesto.redgecko.org/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : is a library for Python web applications

Its aim is to make writing WSGI web applications easy and fun.
Pesto doesn’t constrain you – how you integrate with databases,
what templating system you use or how you prefer to lay out your
source files is up to you. Above all, pesto is small, well
documented and well tested.

Pesto makes it easy to:

  * Map any URI to any part of your application.
  * Produce unicode aware, standards compliant WSGI
applications.
  * Interrogate WSGI request information – form variables
and HTTP request headers.
  * Create and manipulate HTTP headers, redirects, cookies
etc.
  * Integrate with any other WSGI application or middleware,
giving you access to a vast and growing resource.

Bug#559761: ITP: release -- provides information about the current releases

2009-12-06 Thread Benjamin Drung
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Benjamin Drung

* Package name: release
  Version : 0.1 (native)
  Upstream Author : Benjamin Drung
* License : GPL v3+
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : provides information about the current releases

This package contains information about all releases of Debian and Ubuntu. The
release script will give you the codename for e.g. the latest stable release of
your distribution. To get information about a specific distribution there are
the debian-release and the ubuntu-release scripts.

It's based on the idea posted on the ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing list [1].
Comments, suggestions and feature requests are highly welcome.

For Debian I need some informations: Until when were following releases
supported: buzz, rex, bo, hamm, slink, and potato?

I am not so sure about the target user base. If that's just about
information for humans then we have already the "debian-history"
package.

So it does not make much sense as part of a stable release, because it
would not be updated (unless it's distributed via volatile archive or
sth. like that).

Regards,
Eduard.

The target user base are developers, but it could be extended to normal
users.

Yes, it needs to be updated from time to time (when a new release is
nominated). volatile is a good idea.

I have created the git repository and pushed a working version [1].
