There has been lots of activity upstream. There a couple of pretty
important usability issues that should be addressed soon: in particular
handling renames and deletes of mail messages, and a pernicious (for
notmuch) performance bug in xapian.

There is preliminary debian packaging of a git snapshot at
http://pivot.cs.unb.ca/git/?p=notmuch.git;a=summary

If either of you wants to take that and run with it, feel free.
There is not much too it, really.

I am currently working on the Debian packaging of Virtuoso and its
sesame interface depends on the availability of sesame in Debian.

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-virtuoso-maintainers

So, for the record, we're interested in this :)

Hi again

well it is possible to build without rawzor support so packaging is not
that impossible.

I've made few patches which fix various problems with build system (out
of tree build, linking of static libraries, support for disabling
rawzor support), you can find them in upstream bug tracker:

I think esmtp works well indeed. I have not yet taken the packaging,
but I will try to take care of it (as you have seen, I prepared 1.2
and was uploaded to unstable). If it is possible to you to still
continue maitnaining esmtp upstream as you mentioned, it would be
great. As you mentioned there are many alternatives around in
meantime, but to my knowledge esmtp is the only one having both 'user
configurable' and 'local delivery trhough a mda' (receiving mails to
root, from cronjobs).

On one side, I talked already to some of the people in Fedora which
maintained esmtp there, if they are interested. So far no one has
futher time to take over esmtp development.
On the other side, I also contacted Martin Lambers, the developer of
msmtp. He looked what is needed to implement the same for msmtp but
said to me, that at the moment, as there is much to do, he has not
time at the moment 'porting' this functionality from esmtp to msmtp.
But he will accept any patches to msmtp if someone would submit there.
So one other thing I can see here, is to try to find someone who is
interested in having this in msmtp and having also time and ressources
and in particular the skills to port that.

What I can propose, or what my contribution I can immagine, is to take
over the Debian packaging, and help trying where it is possible to me,
to have these in msmtp. But unfortunately I think I do not have the
skills to guarentee to be able to implement this for msmtp (which I
need, but Martin Lambers told me I'm not the only one ;-))

Many thanks for your reply,
Bests
Salvatore

Bug#545717: ITP: clamz -- Downloader for the Amazon.com MP3 music store

2010-01-05 Thread Stefan Schmidt
Hello.

On Tue, 2010-01-05 at 15:39, Felix Geyer wrote:
> Has the package been rejected from the NEW queue?

Yes.

> If so, for what reason?

One of the FTP assistents was of the opinion that it does not belong into main
but contrib as it is useful only to download non-free content. Refering to the
DFSG.

I asked him what parts of the DFSG he reads this from and my mentor and I also
pointed out that youtube-dl, lastfm and rhythmbox with his plugin for the
magnatune shop are also in main. Sadly we never heard back from him to claer up
what he was actually meaning.

It's not really a problem putting it into contrib but more the fact that it gets
rejected and a request to clarify gets ingnored which keeps me unmotivated to
fix this and re-upload.

If you are interesting in taking the package over and try your luck be my guest.
If not, this has to wait until I find some motivation again working on it.

regards
Stefan Schmidt

Okay, I found the src.zip, and that's great. I'll need to replace the
debian/ directory, but that's not a problem.

The libraries should be packaged separately - these will of course be
built from source in the other packages, but the hudson package won't
worry about them.

The build dependencies will be packaged separately as well.

I'd consider this very much a second-best solution - let's see how
much work it really is, first.

Just so you know, Hudson currently have 82 external library
dependencies. Some of the jar files are so-called "uberjar", which is a
rebundle of multiple libraries, so the complete list of dependencies
that need packaging are likely longer.

Those libraries often have their additional build-time dependencies in
turn, and every so often Hudson picks up a new version of those
dependencies. It's way too much work for us to package them all, and
keep doing it every time Hudson uses new dependencies.

I've attached the list of dependencies.

Is there any precedence of packaging Maven-built applications/libraries?
For build dependencies to be picked up locally, Maven needs some
additional plugins. Maybe those work have already been done.

Bug#559939: RFS: graphy

2010-01-05 Thread Miguel Landaeta
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "graphy".

* Package name: graphy
  Version : 1.0+dfsg-1
  Upstream Author : Google Inc.
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/graphy/
* License : Apache-2.0
  Section : python

It builds these binary packages:
python-graphy - chart generation library for Python

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 563849

My motivation for maintaining this package is:
I plan to package the utility namebench for Debian and this library
is the only Build-Depend not available currently in main. So, I would
like to maintain this library under the Python Modules Packaging Team.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/graphy
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/graphy/graphy_1.0+dfsg-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards,

Mmm, welcome to Debian. ;) I'm quite keen to see hudson packaged
properly, though. I'm planning to work with Debian's existing Java
packaging team.

Thanks, that looks very helpful. I'll review it properly tomorrow.

Yes, there is now a solution in Debian for packaging Maven stuff.

Bug#544934: RFA: mines.app -- Minesweeper for GNUstep

2010-01-05 Thread Luke Cycon
Hello,

Seen as mines provides so much entertainment to me when I'm bored, I
would be glad to adopt it to save it from removal.

Note: Would it be possible for someone from Debian-Games to sponsor my
uploads? (I'm not a DM or DD... yet (I am hoping to make DM soon))

Thanks!

P.S. Hope its not too late, it has been three weeks :S
