I intend to adopt this package. I will be preparing a new package
 correcting some bugs soon.

 Kind regards,

 Hi Ignace,

You are working on adopting the AllTray package for Debian, am I
understanding that correctly? Do you know if Debian has
distribution-local patches? If so, I'd like to take them and move
them upstream to the old-maintenance branch on Launchpad. I'd be
happy to help you with that.

Debian has no patches but Ubuntu has a few and they don't apply to version
0.70 without conflict (although they are still required, i.e they have not
been merged upstream AFAIK).

See http://packages.qa.debian.org/alltray and the ubuntu patch link on the
bottom right.

Cheers,

Thanks.

And for the future - well, assume its not always the same group of

transferring all the little details takes time, and you easily forget
something in the huge mass of details we have. So a little
hint will help to remember whoever is looking at it. (Also helps people
outside who take a random look at your package).

Fully ACK.

Perhaps we should extract the information given in #557199 and put
this into a template for future R packages, perhaps inside the
r-base-dev documentation. What do you think?

Thanks for your work

Usually it is the easier to get help the more interesting a package is.
I guess there are some DDs around who are interested but overworked.
Sponsering a prepared package is not as much work as doing it from
scratch - so changes might be not that bad.

Maybe they are overestimating the packaging effort, actually ?

Probably. I just rebuilded the Ubuntu package which shows four
easy to fix lintian problems, but installs and starts fine.

Gour, is there a direct link to his forum reply which we can
attach to the RFP against WNPP in Debian ?

 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/cobertura/cobertura_1.9.3+dfsg-1.dsc

Hi,

I've reviewed the package and have a few comments (some of which need changing,
others are a matter of style).

 - any reason you're not using dh --with ant or --with javahelper and are doing
 everything by hand?

 - the API doc in cobertura-doc should still be located in
/usr/share/doc/cobertura/api

 - Is cobertura really providing a library? If so, would it be better to split
out a libcobertura-java package for things to depend on. If not, do you need
the API and to have the jar in /usr/share/java?

 - is there any reason why you are depending on openjdk rather than
default-jdk? If not, you should depend on default-jdk. You should also
probably include the other virtual packages (java6-runtime etc)

 - ditto, you should build-dep on default-jdk

 - standards-version has just been changed to 3.8.4

 - there are still files in etc/dtds/ with the copyright notice:

!-- Portions (C) International Organization for Standardization 1986:^M
Permission to copy in any form is granted for use with^M conforming SGML
systems and applications as defined in^M ISO 8879, provided this notice is
included in all copies.^M

which it's not clear is DFSG-free (in particular it doesn't seem to provide
permission to distribute modified versions on derivative works)

 - (biggest issue here): Apache 1.1 licenced code seems not to be linkable with
   GPL-2+ licenced code:
   http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#GPLIncompatibleLicenses and
you have both in cobertura. You should probably raise this with upstream and
   see what they say.

 - cobertura-doc suggests cobertura-java, but the other package is just
cobertura

 git branch upstream
 git-buildpackage --git-ignore-new

I really look forward to any responses.

Description : tool to audit DNS signed zones according to local policy

OpenDNSSEC is a complete DNSSEC zone signing system which is very
easy to use with stability and security in mind. There are a lot of
details in signing zone files with DNSSEC and OpenDNSSEC covers most
 of it.
 .
This package contains OpenDNSSEC Auditor, which is a tool to check
whether DNSSEC signed zone complies to a local policy. It is issued
automatically (unless disabled) after each resigning of a zone
and will stop the signed zone file from being distributed if any
 error is found.

Description : Color management integration for the Gnome desktop
environment

GNOME Color Manager is a set of graphical utilities for color
management to be used in the GNOME desktop. With the help of
ArgyllCMS, it can create and apply display ICC color profiles.

This has at least two selling points: first, it replaces handmade
scripts to load ICC profiles at login time; second, it wraps ArgyllCMS
and hides the complexity of its command-line under one button (it
restricts the available options by doing so, but hopefully that's
temporary rather than permanent, since the app is rather new).

#debian-gnome (well, one person in there :-) tells me they're interested
in maintaining the package. I'll probably upload a first version to
experimental and see how it goes from there.

tintii takes full colour photos and filters them into black and white
with some select regions highlighted in colour; think Schindler's List's
little girl in red, or the dramatic style of Sin City. The technique is
known as colour popping or selective colouring - tintii makes it easy.

 Hey

I saw you submitted this :
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=497098 .
And it has not been updated for awhile.

 Did this get dropped?

 Regards

While the upstream project is now 389 Directory Server, and no longer
Fedora Directory Server, I would still like to see a package for it. I
know some work was done towards this, but unfortunately it seemed to bog
down really quickly. Upstream, I belive some work has been done to make
the Directory Server less specific in what libraries it requires, this
might make it easier to create a debian package for it.

Unfortunately, I do not really have time to help with this, which is why I
submitted a request for package rather than an intent to package.

Luke

Please follow the “best packaging practices” for any package synopsis

In this case, the synopsis should be a noun phrase; not a complete

written such that package-synopsis can be inserted into a sentence of
the form “package-name is a package-synopsis.”

I suggest:

I would be willing to completely move it into pkg-games domain
with me as an uploader and bring it in shape in the next week. However
 I have met some problems.

The package was imported into SVN including all the experimental
upload and the package in experimental still is considered unstable
upstream. However as all of it was imported I can't just branch it
away. Secondly Ubuntu ships the Version Upstream consideres unstable.

I can imagine now 2 possibilities: Either I go the way Ubuntu
goes, import the newest Release from Upstream/Unstable and just
continue from SVN or I start from new (possibly but not necessarily in
git -- no topgit this time, I promise ;)).

Any opinions, suggestions, whatever are welcome. If there are
none, I'll start to do the thing that seems most sensible to me at
 that point in time soon.

I think we should stick to the current stable SuperTux release for
Squeeze.

Right. The synopsis needs to be a lot more succinct.

 What about this?
lal is a dockable clock in a light weight window manager.

(Presumably, “dockable clock in a light weight window manager” would
be the synopsis.)

That's an improvement, but it doesn't read well to me. It sounds like
the package is a clock in a window manager; i.e. it is both clock
*and* window manager.

Do you need to qualify the window manager with “light weight”? I get
the impression that it should work in any window manager that supports
docking.

Is the term “applet” applicable? How about:

dockable clock applet for various window managers

Okay, then I would recommend not mentioning “dock” in the synopsis.

I just wanted to emphasize light weight somewhere because the code
base is VERY small. The code is only ~300 lines long iirc.

What about:

low-footprint clock applet for various window managers

An alternatives to “low-footprint” might be “low-resource”.

Please consider using the great cstream or pv tools in a pipeline
with lbzip2. (The Debian packages have the same names as the
 binaries.) For example:

Thank you very much for the hint of those pipe viewers (always nice to
have them in the toolkit).

If you find this answer unsatisfactory, please tell me. In that
case, I'll try to think about how to implement the feature *cleanly*
within lbzip2. (Please don't take this as a promise, though.)

I experimented a little bit with lbzip2 and pv and it works fine. So, I
guess that there are no problems with the delegation that task to
another tool.

Finally, I can't help but recommend a multi-threaded LZMA compressor
to you: you may want to check out plzip [0] [1] [2], originally
based on the lzlib-0.7 compression library [3] by Antonio Diaz Diaz,
and the compressor module of lbzip2-0.17 by yours truly.

Ah, thank you for that. I also didn't know about it. I was here waiting
for a multi-threaded version of xz to be implemented. I just took the
package created by Daniel Baumann (still sitting in NEW) and compiled it
here.

After the initial bare-bones, featureless implementation by me
(modestly called llzip at that time), plzip continues to be developed
/ maintained by Antonio Diaz Diaz exclusively. He just released 0.3 a
 few days ago [4].

That's the version that I'm using here. With it, the pv trick doesn't
work so well: it seems that plzip works here by outputting large chunks
of data at a time and having many large-spaced periods without any data
output, which means that, for a long time, the user doesn't see the
progress of the compression (well, I suspect that this happens when the
user has big amounts of RAM---in my case, I have an amd64 system with
2GB of RAM).

 Comparing, on my dual core,
(...)
(Needless to say, this was a completely non-tuned benchmark.)

Thanks. Here is the data that I got, in a completely non-scientific,
non-tuned benchmark, with stock software (sorry for the long lines):

,
| /tmp$ lbzip2 -9 debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso - | pv -c
debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso.bz2
| 158MB 0:01:11 [ 2.2MB/s] [ =
]
| /tmp$ plzip -9 debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso - | pv -c
debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso.lz
| 156MB 0:05:14 [ 506kB/s] [ =
]
| /tmp$ xz -9e debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso - | pv -c
debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso.xz
| 155MB 0:03:56 [ 669kB/s] [ =
]
`

Here, plzip uses both of my cores (a Pentium D 805, running sid/amd64),
and xz uses only one. Despite that, for that particular file (taken from
the daily builds of debian-installer, from 2010-01-27), xz offers a
smaller file in less time.

Is there anything that I may be doing wrong? (Well, I guess that this is
becoming off-topic as a message meant as a feature request of lbzip2). :-)

Here is the environment:

I'm including Daniel's ITP bug as a CC.
