Hi Alexander, just a big THANK YOU for the ongoing work on the
chromium-browser packaging, of course that extends from you to all other
people who contributed. I'm eager to play with the browser and I thought
a supportive message would be better than nothing :-)

Do you have any ETA for when the package will be available in unstable?
Do you plan to ship it with squeeze?

Thanks again,
Cheers.

The procedure to use GMail is described at
/usr/share/doc/reportbug/README.Users , and that config works. If
you're not able to, then there's something blocking the connection.
Alternatively, use reportbug.debian.org as smarthost or configure a

But I won't do this alone and I want the package to be

Wow, I'm flattered :) If for any reason you didn't look at the README yet,
please do so, I have tried to describe lbzip2's design in it.

In the source you'll see longish proofs of under what circumstances to
signal / broadcast condition variables. I have tried to describe the
underlying theory here, with some lbzip2 specific comments at the end:

http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/9ynxv/utter_verbiage_how_to_design_condition_variables/

I experimented a little bit with lbzip2 and pv and it works fine. So, I
guess that there are no problems with the delegation that task to
another tool.

Thanks. With your approval then I close this bug.

Wrt. plzip, I humbly suggest that you resubmit your remarks to the

The upload will happen soon ... i am not sure it will go through NEW,
but the things I thought were issues seems to be not ... so we will
try as it is ...

Bug#563081: RFS: r5u87x

2010-01-29 Thread David Jurenka

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package r5u87x.

* Package name: r5u87x
  Version : 0.2.1+r63+dfsg1-1
Upstream Author : Alexander Hixon a...@alexhixon.com
* URL : http://www.bitbucket.org/ahixon/r5u87x/
* License : GPL-2+
  Section : contrib/misc

It builds these binary packages:
r5u87x - firmware loader for cameras based on Ricoh R5U87x chipsets

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 563081

My motivation for maintaining this package:
This firmware loader is currently the only way to make cameras based on
Ricoh R5U87x chipsets work under Linux. These cameras are used on
several Sony Vaio, HP Pavilion and Fujitsu Lifebook laptops. An RFP has
been open on Launchpad for more than two and a half years
(https://launchpad.net/bugs/120434).

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/contrib/r/r5u87x
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/contrib/r/r5u87x/r5u87x_0.2.1+r63+dfsg1-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.
Please CC me if you reply on-list.

Best regards,

David Jurenka

Bug#567552: ITP: python-html2text -- A Python Script which converts HTML to Markdown

2010-01-29 Thread Ben Finney
Stefano Rivera stef...@rivera.za.net writes:

 * Package name: python-html2text

Using the name ‘python-foo’ indicates that this is a package primarily
for use with Python. But the description you give strongly indicates
that is not the case: This is a program to be used from the command
line, and the user should not need to care that it's written in Python.

So I would suggest the name should not have the ‘python-’ prefix.

Since it converts the HTML to Markdown (and not to reStructuredText or
other text markup) would it be better named ‘html2mdwn’ or
‘html2markdown’? That makes it clearer what the package is for, and
doesn't imply that this is the *only* text markup format.

Description : A Python Script which converts HTML to Markdown

Please follow the Best Packaging Practices for the package synopsis
URL:http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.html#bpp-pkg-synopsis.
It should be a simple noun phrase, not start with the article “A”, and
should not have implementation details like the programming language
(since as discussed above the user doesn't interact with it as a Python
module).

I would suggest:

program for converting HTML to Markdown text

The implementation language (and many other details) can be communicated
by an appropriate debtag on the package, once it is in Debian.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the xpaint package.

Rationale:
- last maintainer upload 2005-09-15
- unhandled bugs, some even with patches, without maintainer feedback
- no reply to repeated maintainer mail pings

The package description is:
XPaint is suitable for producing simple graphics. It does offer some
advanced features such as image processing functions and gradient
 fill.
 .
In the C Script Editor of XPaint, the External editor in the File menu
 will invoke x-terminal-emulator -e sensible-editor.
 .
The gs-gpl package will be needed for PDF/PS reading, netpbm will be needed
for external conversion, lpr for printing.
 .
 Homepage: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sf-xpaint/

Recently several new upstream version have been released that are worth
checking. Please note that I as the previous Uploader/Sponsor for this
package don't intend to stay involved as my personal preferences have
shifted somewhat over the last few years ...

Cheers,
Flo
