This package contains a squid proxy configuration that is optimized for
downloading deb packages. It defaults to a different cache directory and port
than the regular squid cache.

It's already available in Ubuntu (along with squid-deb-proxy-client built from
the same source), so porting it to Debian would just involve updating

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-03-16 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Hi André,

Sorry about the delay, I've been trying to get X working in a chroot but
a known bug is making the keyboard and mouse not work... Copying my sid
chroot into its own partition now to try to boot and test there.

On Thu, 2010-03-11 at 17:23 +0100, Andre Espaze wrote:
The last working version was actually the -4:

   c56f196854092f0dc0d222de71de1a4532f214ec
Release 5.1.3-4 Look ma, it builds!

That's what I thought. I tried that one today (backported to Ubuntu
Karmic), and it didn't work. I guess I'll have to bring X up in the
chroot to check it there, then start the bisect process.
It still does not work but I wanted to let you know where I am.
 I have worked at revision:
 862cebe157a4ce50984d6fc15758da7d3ca96e2a
 Thu Mar 4 20:29:30 2010
By applying the following patches on the KERNEL module:
 kernel-safe-include.patch
 kernel-mpi-includes.patch
 kernel-mpi-libs.patch
 kernel-hdf5-needs-mpi.patch
 kernel-remove-mpi-undefs.patch
 and:
 gui-mpich-mpi.patch
on the GUI one, it works when installing it by hand in a local
directory (I have used ~/sroot/). However it does not work when
following the debian/rules install path. I thought that lines 206
and 207 of debian/rules where the problem:

 mv debian/tmp/usr/bin/*.py \
 $(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/lib/python2.5/*-packages/salome/
 chmod -x $(CURDIR)/debian/tmp/usr/lib/python2.5/*-packages/salome/*

but it is not enough to make it works.

I thought that might be an issue too. You might also try commenting the
lines which delete the .pyc (and maybe .pyo) files from /usr/bin.
Together they are supposed to make the package more efficient by
shipping just .py files and having them compile at install time, but it
seems like it will take some time to let Salomé know that those files
are not in /usr/bin.

 For all the processing at
line 200, I do not understand where the files are. By running for
 example:

 find /usr/ -name config_appli.xml

I do not find anything however I can find this file in my local ~/sroot
directory. However I may have messed the install process, I am running
 a new build now.

Then I guess that we need to build Salome with hdf5 including mpi
because we can not force the user to use libhdf5-serial when he will
want to install Salome. Dealing with patches make the debuging harder
for getting a first running version but I think that you have solved the
problem. I have tried with and without hdf5 and I get the same behavior
 for the KERNEL part.

Indeed. I am still waiting for the HDF5/GIS team to fix bug 510057
which has had a patch for six weeks now, so we can upload the new MED
and not have to use out-of-archive packages...

I keep you in touch once my new version is running, I am getting
more confortable with the Debian packaging tools.

Thanks, I'll let you know if I can test the unstable packages, so we can
start a git bisect.

-Adam

Description : A Haskell library for type-level programming

A haskell library for performing computations on the type-level. Type-level
functions are implemented using functional dependencies of multi parameter
type classes. To date, Booleans and Numerals (Naturals and Positives) are
supported. With regard to Numerals, there is support for common arithmetic
operations (addition, substraction, multiplication, division, exponientation,
logarithm, maximum, comparison, GCD) over natural numbers (using a decimal
representation to make compile-time errors friendlier). Although making use
of type-level computations might seem devious and obfuscated at first sight,
it is indeed useful in practice to implement lightweight dependent types
such as number-parameterized types (e.g. an array type parameterized by the
array's size or a modular group type Zn parameterized by the modulus).

Bug#494928: how is this coming about?

2010-03-16 Thread Andres Cimmarusti
I would really like to see sflphone in debian before the squeeze freeze. How
is this going? how is the situation with pjsip going? I saw some old posts
online about being nearly done (nearly a year ago..) -
http://lists.pjsip.org/pipermail/pjsip_lists.pjsip.org/2009-April/007041.html

Thanks for the effort. I'm only learning about packaging properly for debian
right now, but if you need any help I offer it.

The xrc and rc programs available in:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/lirc/xrc-0.6.2.tar.gz
are very useful to complete lirc functionality and be able to send IR to
consumer devices yet I can't see them packaged anywhere.

Just packaging rc would keep me happy as I don't really care about X but
I guess some people do so perhaps you could add xrc to lirc-x too?

Bug#392333: [Fwd: Re: Bug#392333: AW: [Fwd: ITP: irrtoolset -- policy analysis tools to operate with routing policies in RPSL format]]

2010-03-16 Thread Faidon Liambotis
Jan, hi,

[ Cc'ing the ITP ]

Jan Wagner wrote:
I agree with you, that maintaining the package isn't a big trick. From the
last releases, the biggest issue was the review of the copyright/license
changes and probably maintaining additional patches.
I'm not sure if you follow upstream's list so I'll repeat some stuff anyway.

Some months ago I contacted some of the original authors about the
licensing mess. The main author, Cengiz Alaettinoglu, who did the work
for ISI/USC back then but has since left, promptly replied and was able
to reach some of his old colleagues who convinced USC's management to a
relicensing.

All in all, we had a happy ending and all of the weird non-free
licensing, including the stuff that had IBM copyrights(!) have been
cleared and the license has been replaced by a standard MIT one!

Nick and Shane were aware of this and were holding off the 5.0.0 release
(the cruft-cleanout one) so that it can be released with the new
license. 4.8.6 (= MIT-licensed 4.8.5) was released today, so 5.0.0 will
soon follow.

However, there are also some bad news: the project has been pronounced
dead at the last RIPE summit by Nick. He has worked on it for over a
year and decided that the software is broken beyond repair -- he's the
one that cleaned up all the cruft. I objected and several others were
not very happy about it; if you're not subscribed, have a look at the
archives for the discussion that followed.

I'm not sure how to proceed. I think the best course would be to wait a
bit and see before uploading to Debian.

Regards,
Faidon

Bug#544338: tahoe and zfec

2010-03-16 Thread micah anderson

Hi!

mascell...@poisson.phc.unipi.it wrote:
I'm interested in packaging tahoe-lafs and zfec for Debian. You opened
the ITP bugs for these two packages, but they seem to be quite inactive.
Are you still working on it?

Thanks for writing about this. I have wanted to work on this, but have
not been able to find the time. I have added Jacob to the CC list,
because I have been speaking with him about working on these packages as
well.

If not, I'd like to acquire the ownership of the bugs and go on for it.
I'd start from the Ubuntu packages, trying to make them suitable for Debian.

Sure, I only care that they get packaged!

I never worked on Python packages, so this could take some time. Also,
I surely won't be able to work on it for at least the next week. Of
course I'm totally open to co-maintain these packages with others: for
instance, I'm not a DD (although I just started the NM process), so
Micah could help in getting the packages into the archive! My
preferred VCS is GIT, and I already maintain many packages on it.

I know that Jacob is also interested in working on it too, so perhaps
you can collaborate?

I would be happy to help by sponsoring/reviewing your packages!

Micah
